Why do they say colon cancer is a very slow progessive disease.?
I am trying to get the courage up to make appt. for colonoscopy, my nerves have the best of me right now and I am so scared they are going to tell me I have let it go for too long. I am 33. need words of encouragement or something. I know no one on here can tell me whats wrong, but I need some help. I have heard that people who let rectal bleeding go for years are the ones who generally have colon cancer. i have had blood in stool for nearly year and a half. I have gone to rectal dr, he said my rectum looked completely normal, but that doesn’t mean I have nothing serious. I am so frightened that It is consuming me.
Thank you all. Its sad i get nervous everytime I have to go to bathroom, because I just know the blood is goin to be there. Its covered, even with just a small bowel movement.

I’m in stage 3 right now, and there were a lot of symptoms I just ignored at least since last summer, thinking they were just temporary (I finally got diagnosed last September). Don’t get scared. I’m 46, and they thought I was young. There are all types of things it could be besides colon cancer, such as gastroenteritis (inflammation of the colon). The colonoscopy will be able to tell for sure what it is, so you will know for sure. Even if it is colon cancer, it’s one of the most curable types of cancer. Stage 0 just means you have a pre-cancerour polyp they can take out when they do the colonoscopy. Stage 1 means there is a cancerous polyp, but it hasn’t invaded the colon wall, just the lining, and they can take it out with surgery. Even here you have over a 95% chance of being cured. At stage 2, it has invaded the colon wall, but it hasn’t gone any further. They’ll do surgery again, and some doctors recommend chemo, but not all, and you still have over an 80% cure rate. I have stage 3, and after the surgery alone I still had a 60% cure rate, and with chemo it’s more like 75-78%. That’s a lot better odds than most other types, and like I said, the chances are pretty good that it’s something else at your age.
I know you’re afraid, but if you think you have the disease, wouldn’t you rather get help now instead of waiting until it’s too late to be helped? Your family and friends deserve to have you around. Even more than that, you deserve to stick around so get this checked out as soon as possible. Stuff like this shouldn’t be taken lightly, so please put some pep in your step & get check out. Best wishes & I’ll keep you in my prayers!
don’t worry about it too much. the person doing the test knocks you out so you don’t feel anything. and GET THE TEST DONE! it’s good for you. i know i’ve been through hell and back and i have come out ok.
I have had 3 colon surgeries to correct my medical problems. Basically I am fine now with a few side effects from the surgeries. I was also afraid of a colonoscopy but I found out it was one of the easiest procedures I have ever had done. You go in and are put to sleep for a short period and when you wake up the test is done and they tell you the results. Go get it done as soon as possible because time counts with any type of colon problems.
Although its possible, 33 would be VERY young for colon cancer.
I WANT U to FULLY Understand that ANXIETY is more than JUST a word.
Let me fully explain THAT in relation to your question.
DID U KNOW: that Anxiety (=just a word?? or maybe just a little more than a word??)
Did u know that Anxiety CAN rot your teeth?
Did u know that Anxiety can give U symptoms of Liver Cirrhosis.?
Did U know that Anxiety CAN give U Dandruff, caused by Dermatitis caused in turn by the Anxiety?
Did U know that U can develop whats called a Neurological Dermatitis that causes a burning, chronic
itch that drives u mad on the legs, feet, ankles, arms etc.?
Did U know that (as a woman) IF U constantly worry about being pregnant, desperately trying to get
pregnant, that Anxiety CAN cause a Phantom Pregnancy.?
Did U know, If a woman, that if on a contraceptive and then your period comes late or doesn’t come
at all, OR, just comes as little spots and even sometimes discolored..because u worried so
constantly, so intensely, that Anxiety is the cause?
Did u know that Anxiety can play TRICKS with your vision, causes blurring, seeing "things" that arnt
there to the corner of the eyes..even dashes of flashes etc.?
Did U know that with what U "THINK" u have and constantly keeping the thought in mind that
"something" is so wrong..that eventually that "something" does turn out to be something wrong?
BUT, and I say, BUT..the ‘something" that turns out to be wrong. is phantom. (in the mind)
Did U know that most Anxiety sufferers (includes bipolars also) ARE born Hypochondriacs??
AND, now this is one u probably do know>> even though I say DID U Know?
That Anxiety sufferers very often go from doctor to doctor..do NOT believe what the
doctor said..do not listen as they should..and seem to pick up on everything a person might say, that they thEN interpret as negative.
DID U KNOW that even IF U have Anxiety and have been diagnosed with it and perhaps "sometimes" U MIGHT think your going MAD..Out of your mind??
U arnt..U arnt at all. Anxiety does NOT, repeat does NOT mean U have a MENTAL Illness.
It is simply..yes SIMPLY, causeD by a lack of the brain chemical called Serotonin, which causes the brain to give INCORRECT, Phantom, signals to various parts of the body which U do actually feel, as IF they are actually very real,,but they are NOT..they are in m medical science FALSE, Phantom. I FULLY Realise that is SO difficult to understand ..to believe.
remember> THIS ..no matter how bad the feelings get..no matter if u think they will kill u..they wont. They definitely wont..and they will pass..they WILL.
NOW. believe me, I am NOT attempting to be be cruel..unkind in wording,,seeming to be critical in any way..I WANT to HELP.
And, believe me.."Just Me"…I will.
