Why do I get rectal pain when I am on my period?
For the past year or so, I get intense pain whenever I am on my period. The pain is definetely coming from my rectum area. It is a sharp pain and I can feel my feces trying to pass through. I do not have the urge to go when this happens. I think it is the feces passing from the large intestine to the colon, but I can't be sure. What is causing this? Should I see my doctor? Could it be IBS or endometriosis? The pain is getting worse and when I get it, I just feel like keeling over and falling on the floor because it hurts so bad.

The pain can be from a number of sources but is probably related to the fact that you have nerve bundles that are in the same area that are being stimulated. You need to see your OB/GYN and talkt to them about this. It can be as simple as a atilted uterus or as problmatic as endometriousis or even GI problems. You need a thorough exam and diagnostic testing to pinpoint the cause and receive treatment appropriately.
Are you sure you are putting your tampon in the right spot?
All kidding aside, you should probably go speak with your gynecologist and get yourself checked out.
Well, it could be a number of things. The only way to know is with a proper interrogatory, performing certain tests, and a physical examination. In this country, the only ones authorized to do that without going to the tank ( I think here they call it the slammer ) are doctors with license. Find a good one and go to see him
if i felt that way i would go to the dr. before i did anything else and make sure its not colon problems it is easy to get colon cancer, go to the dr. asap.
My dad is a doctor and he gets these complains by many female patients. His diagnosis is usually severe constipation, the fact that you may go to the bathroom every day really doesn't matter, you can still be constipated. You feel the pain when on your period because your ovaries and uterus get bloated and sore while you're on the rag, this bloating increases the pressure against your colon and rectum, making you feel pain.
Usually he advices to drink a full glass of water every 2 hours to irrigate your body ( constipation also comes from dehydration) eat yogurt regularly, take vitamin E ( 800 iu) daily and eat small portions of food while your on your period. On very severe cases he advices to take an enema the day before you expect your period so that your colon and rectum are quite empty and don't bother you while on the rag.
