What's the deal with getting a colon cleanse? Would it be worth the money or is just a fad?
I heard that the average person has anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds of fecal matter build up inside their colon! (YUCK) and that a colon cleansing can get rid of that. Is that true or just junk science?
Also, if a colon cleansing is worth the money, do you have to go to a doctor to get one done or can you buy something at a drug store or health food store and do it yourself?
Thanks for any help and / or advice.

It’s junk science. A "colon cleanse" is nothing but an enema. It might wash out everything, but within a few days (assume you keep eating), you’ll replace all of it.
You’d be better off to learn and follow a healthy diet, set up a regular program of exercise, and get a physical once a year, just like your doctor has been telling you. That’s boring and dull, but it works better in the long run.
Yes, it’s definitely worth it. I’m 15, so I don’t need to worry about it, but they found in John wayne’s colon 40 pounds of crap XD that’s gross.
But once you’re around 40 is when you should have one done. And I’m pretty sure you need to schedule an appointment with a doctor to have one done.
Definitely junk science. You can’t "clean" your colon in one large swoop. You have to live a healthy lifestyle, eat a lot of fiber, drink a lot of water etc.
That’s one of those fads that goes around every once in a while. Thing is, there’s lots of beneficial bacteria in the colon that’s there to help in the digestive process. Over-cleaning it will do more harm than good. Best way to maintain its health is to eat lots of food with fiber–whole grains, veggies, fruit. Helps to keep stuff moving the natural way.
It is BS and a way to make $$. There is no truth to the idea people have that much waste inside them– sure a few might who have slow digestive systems, but if you take a dump a day, figure you have two days to digest, then that would equal only 3 trips to the toilet, sure not 15 or even 5 pounds! If you get a colonoscopy, to have your colon viewed for possible colon cancer, as older people do, you take a laxative to get rid of everything– and it certainly is not 5 or more pounds of crap.
I do this before I am about to have sex with a boy. I purchase a douche and clean my butt out — removing all that fecal waste your talking about above. I haven’t tried enemas yet but do plan to whenever I have sex if I ever will again. I love cleaning myself out because it feels good and fun and I always feel refreshed when I am done.
Why do you keep referring to it as a colon cleanser though. Why don’t you just say cleaning the rectum or butt or are you just trying to sound educated. (Just asking).
When it comes to the matter of is colon cleansing worth it, it absolutely is and you will notice the improvement in your health almost immediately.
This is probably one of the first questions you ask yourself when you come across information on colon cleansing. Do I need a colon cleanse? The simple answer is Yes. I think everyone can and should be doing colon cleanses on a regular basis. Colon cleansing is just one of those things that is good for your overall health. Your body gets a chance to refresh and renew the insides of the intestines, which ultimately helps the body get rid of toxins.
As a general rule think about cleansing the colon about twice a year. This keeps the body ahead of any possible troubles and also gives the body a chance to detoxify from any inhaled or consumed toxins that you have no chance to avoid.
