What is the best way to manage irritable bowel syndrome?
I have been newly diagnosed. Can this condition ever be cured? How do you manage diarrhea- if you suffer from it. Any help and advice would be very welcome.

it’s hard to figure out what works for you.
IBS is tricky that way,
but one thing that has helped me is
to avoid cruciferous vegetables:
onions
garlic
broccoli
etc.
Stay away from spicy and acidic foods. Tomatoes are very acidic and can cause an attack. I don’t believe it is curable, but it gets easier when you figure out what foods you can eat without triggering an attack.
Steer clear of baked beans, coffee and lots of other known triggers.
Type in "foods to avoid with IBS" in the search engine
You will have good days and bad days and when the pain is happening try and read or play on the computer or anything else that you prefer to distract yourself from the pain.
Try different sorts of tablets, I prefer Colpermin.
Good luck with it and I wish you many pain-free days <3
you need a lowfat dite
From what I’ve heard there isn’t a cure.
Diarrhea? I take an anti-diarrheal, or I simple wait and get it all out. It never lasts for more than a few hours.
Don’t skimp on your fruits and vegetables, or your grains. If you eat healthy, it will help keep your body better balanced.
I suppose you could try things like Activia. I tried it once, but hated the taste, so never ate it again.
This may sound like a joke but it’s not. Recent research has found that one of the reasons that so many people have started developing IBS and other digestive disorders is that we have become too hygienic. The normal intestinal tract contains many forms of bacteria. Over time, the intestines learn to live with these bacteria and indeed some of them are needed to break down food. But because our lives are too sanitary, our digestive systems have not been exposed to normal bacterial environments. As a result, they have become sensitive and fussy. One study from Tufts University suggests that the best thing we can do to relieve IBS is to walk around in our backyards without our shoes once a week. I do and it seems to help.
