I used a colon cleanse in the form of a fiber powder. To tell you the truth what it did do was make me go to the bathroom in the morning and it made me empty my entire system. You have to be careful if you are giong to use a colon cleanse because it cleanses you of everything. All nourishment and good bacteria as well as the bad. Its necessary to replenish your system so your immune system continues to work properly. Overall it should be done periodically.
i have VERY much experience with this subject.. i just had a surgery called a Cecostomy its a tiny surgery where they put a tube in into your colon and on the out side of your skin it connects to a "button" that opens and every other night i drain my colon with an IV drip that connects to the button. i was sick for 2 1/2 years being constipated for 2 weeks not going at all and then having severe diarrhea and i had major break outs on my face back and chest but since my surgery i have not had any of my symptoms i had before. i feel great. before my surgery i would be so worried to even go out with friends or even going to my classes in college. now i know that i am completely in control with my life and with my bathroom situation. i can finally be independent to those that say it is unhealthy to cleans your colen too often…there is no such thing as too often….
I’ve had several colonoscopies and therefore have had to "cleanse my colon" before each one. None of then had any noticeable effect on my health or sense of well being. To indulge in colon cleansing under the guise of it being "healthful" is stupid and a total waste of time and money. If you like the feeling it gives for whatever reason – so be it and cleanse to your heart’s content – just don’t get or spread the idea that it is "good" for you. You are much better following the dietary guidelines discussed by the first poster.
Colon cleansing really does nothing. Instead, drink plenty of water, eat lots of fiber, and get enough exercise.
I totally disagree with the 1st person’s answer! I got a severe case of Food Poisoning and was very sick for months. After that I struggled with irritable bowl. My husband picked up parasites when we went to Mexico also, so I started looking for a colon cleanse. We used Nature’s Medicine Corporation’s, Internal Sweep. It helped us tremendously! I no longer struggle with irritable bowel and it took care of my husbands parasites. We do it once a year and notice a difference in our health. Good luck! Cindy
It’s a waste of time and money. It won’t prevent colon cancer – or any other diseases for that matter. In fact, colon cleansing may even hurt you.
If you want to prevent colon cancer and find it early, do it the old-fashioned way:
* Get regular colon cancer screenings.
# Eat a diet rich in fiber and low in fat. Studies show that people who eat a high-fiber, low-fat diet are less likely to develop colon cancer. A diet low in vitamin D may also increase the risk.
# Get regular exercise.
# Don’t smoke. Some evidence suggests that smoking may increase the risk of colon cancer.
