what could be cause of small amount of blood after my cat has bowel movement?
My 10 month old Persian Exotic has a touch of blood on his anus or sometimes slight bloody mucous in his litter box after a bowel movement. He has his shots, is very active, very healthy ( definitely NOT underweight), eats normal, drinks water normal.
He does not have loose bowels or hard ( constipated). No straining involved.
Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause?

I had a similar problem with my new cat last week. It could be parasites, infection, cancer or something else. My cat just had an infection and the vet gave us some medicine and now’s she’s back to normal.
Here’s a site to check out:
parasites (worms) can cause this…maybe you should take your cat, a stool sample and the blood into your vet and have it analyzed and treated
If could be anything. FIRST THING go to the vet. Blood in urine or feces is never okay, get to the vet ASAP.
Edit: Maybe it is nothing…..but if its not you don’t want to wait I wouldnt suggest that.
He might’ve eaten something that is irritating his bowels, thus the bloody stool and anus. I wouldn’t worry about it unless it happens for more than 2 days or his behavior drastically changes, he refuses to eat, or doesn’t make a bowel movement.
The first question is how often do you see blood? The second question is how much?
A tiny smear of blood in essentially a rare occurrence can suggest stress. And yes, a cat can get stressed, which for many cat "servants" is a foreign concept.
But more blood and more often merits at least a call to your vet.
