What are the main causes of rectal bleeding in people under the age of 18?
Let’s say a teenager (about 17) is having rectal bleeding every time she makes a bowel movement. What would the cause of this be? Is this serious? Should she see a doctor about this? No pain. No discomfort. Simply alarming.

Anal penetration.
Hemorrhoids See your doctor immediately
What the first answer said.
1. Poor Diet, one low in fiber.
2. Anal sex – silly teenagers don’t understand lubrication.
hemorroids, more than likely, or a small cut/tear in your rectum.
It should clear up in a few days, if not see a doctor. It can look like an alarming amount of blood, but that’s probably all it is.
It could be many things. Spotting in your stools is always an indicator that you should seek the advice of your physician on. You should not be seeing blood in your stool. It could be a Hernia, or a Hemorrhoid, or it could be something bigger. Go see your physician and see what he thinks, it’s in your best interest.
it could be irritable bowel or constipation. but you say it causes you no pain?. you should see a doctor because it can be infection or lead to prostate cancer
How much blood are we talking about? If it’s bright red that means that the bleeding is external and could be due to anal fissures or hemorrhoids. If the bleeding is dark, that would mean it’s internal, which you should go to the doctor. Either way it couldn’t hurt to see the doctor…
dehydration, low fibre intake,
need to up the water and increase your fibre so you get softer stools, if there hard then they will cut you on exit.
Best to see a doctor – a physical examination would clear up any doubts.
