Weight GAIN during a detox cleanse?
I am getting ready to start the Renew Cleanse Smart 30 day program. In order to prepare myself, I’ve been doing some preliminary things for the past 2 weeks to help my mind and body for a smoother start (Epsom salt baths, dry skin brushing, Castor oil packs, yoga, extra fiber, etc). During the past 2 weeks, I’ve noticed that my weight has consistantly gone down a little bit. However, today I weighed myself and I’ve gained 3 pounds in 3 days. What could be the cause of this? I’m eating healthy and have not been consuming extra calories this week. I’m having regular bowel movements so I don’t think it’s constipation that is causing the extra weight. This is my first cleanse though so I don’t know if this is normal to lose and gain along the way.

My guess is you are retaining water so maybe you are bloated or your body feels dehydrated and is holding on to water to compensate. Try 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight if you’re not active (that’s ten eight-ounce glasses if you weigh 160 pounds), and 2/3 ounce per pound if you’re athletic (13 to 14 glasses a day, at the same weight).
Your body is following your mind’s signals that you are going to be on a different intake while you’re cleansing/detoxifying. It is storing calories for that time. Also, you may be retaining some water if the epsom salts have dehydrated you.
