upper GI with small bowel follow through in pediactric patients?
my seven yr old son is having to go thru an upper gi and small bowel follow thru due to three weeks of sudden stomach cramps and vomiting with sudden trips to the bathroom for diarrhea. how is this done in pediatric patients and how should he feel after wards.
thank you

if he is having a barium enema or swallow make sure that he is given milk of magnesia and plenty of water to flush out the barium or it will set up like concrete. might feel constipated and very full. it is just x rays they take. I am assuming you are talking about the traditional upper gi and not endoscopy. If it is endoscopy they he’ll probably just have a sore throat for a few days when he wakes up.
