My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer in August 2004. He had surgery in October 2004. He followed up and had good CAT scans and colonoscomies (sp). Everything always looked fine. He had a hernia from the surgery and had surgery on it November 2007. It was rough and he had some complications. Today I found out that he was up all night throwing up. He went to the doctor and they said they thought it was a virus. They did an Xray and didn’t see anything unusual but went ahead and sent it to a radiologist. He was throwing up and had diarrahea which were a few of his cancer symptoms. I’m freaking about a bit because although it may be a virus I’m worried it may be cancer or hernia related. Any advice or info? Thanks!
I’m 23 years old, no family history of colon cancer, non smoker.
About a year ago I was very constipated and had trouble passing a larger stool. After, I developed what I though were hemorrhoids or a fissure. I would go to the bathroom and feel a very quick sharp pain followed by a tiny bit of blood on the tissue when I would wipe.
This happened on and off for quite some time but has not happened in the last few months.
About 3 weeks ago I started noticing my stools have been much looser than normal. The amount has not increased. I go once a day and it’s basically really soft and breaks into maybe 5-7 pieces in the water. They are usually soft but not that soft.
I went to the doctor. She did a rectal exam as well as a FOBT test (tested stool for blood). The FOBT was negative and my rectal exam checked out fine.
She said she though it might be a mild virus or IBS and is having me change my diet a little. I did but it hasn’t helped much. Although I’ve been very worried this past week.
I’v been reading so much into this. About people being misdiagnosed, the FOBT being wrong, people getting this cancer young. It’s really got me TERRIFIED.
Do you think this is cancer or not? I have no other symptoms.
If we had cars that plugged into the walls because they ran on batteries, we wouldn’t have to buy gas anymore, but our electric bills would go up. We’d have to start at the big boys, the power companies. We have to come up with a clean, abundant, and reliable source of energy for these major power companies to use. We must stop using fossil fuels before it’s too late. We are sucking the earth dry of its intestines, causing the skin to move in pain. Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, and all other natural disasters will increase as we keep polluting our air and draining the earth of its resources. Lets not be the virus on this planet, but the flavor of the earth.
