I had rectal surgery for an anal fissure, and hemorhoids, and he also cut my sphincter muscle to relieve pressure to avoid future problems. I have always had IBS (constant diarrhea) and have never been truly constipated a day in my life. After the surgery, it was EXTREMELY painful to eliminate and the pain pills gave me extreme constipation. It is now 9 days after surgery and I am still experiencing a lot of pain due to the straining from trying to eliminate. I can’t laugh, cough, or sneeze without having leakage, and i constantly have this major urge to go, yet when I try, the pain from pushing is unbearable and nothing really comes out. However, I can feel the hard mass when I wipe and when I am not going to the bathroom, I have this constant feeling of pressure in my rectum. I’m planning on calling the dr tomorrow but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help relieve some of my symptoms now. Thank you for your help

I used to poop whenever I felt like it or whenever I got the "urge" to. Then I did not have a bowel movement for five days(I ate a lot of peanut butter and jelly, cheese. After using Fleet enemas, Miralax, prune juice, and eight cups of water combined with a modified diet, I begin to have bowel movements(usually daily) but only in the afternoon and usually once. The thing is that I have to sit on the toilet and wait. No urge to defecate. I’m urinating frequently too.

Has my colon became inactive? I’m a 16 year old male. I took Miralax for only two days and used two Fleet enemas, a week apart. I have that extremely uncomfortable bloating. I have shortness of breath. I have done a sonogram which only revealed mild hydronephrosis in my left kidney.

2 days ago I had a really bad pain above my pubic area. Very sharp pains I have never felt before. I panicked a little making my blood pressure rise and heart rate. I went to the ER but as soon as I got there pain subsided. A chest X ray and stomach to Lower waist X-ray was done. Doctor tells me I am backed up. I felt embarrassed because I didn’t realized the pain was due to that. I was given a prescription magnesium citrate but pharmacy was closed so I bought over the counter Milk of magnesia. I took 4 teaspoons about 2 hours ago and still nothing. The top of my stomach looks bloated but not hard to touch. I have been eating like normal breakfast and dinner. I am worried because I don’t keep track of when I go. I don’t even have the urge to go either, now I am also worried if I eat the more bowels will be backed up. I 42 years old and have never cleansed my system or taken magnesium citrate. I know it’s important to go after every meal but my system is usually 2-3 days. Any advice is helpful since I am so worried. Thanks
I hear noises in my stomach it’s crazy and the thought of colon cancer just gave me a wake up call. My mom used to always tell me to cleanse my system once in a while but never did. I remember having the urge to go at one point before the sharp pain came but the urge just went away. Thanks for the comments very helpful and definitely getting the magnesium citrate.

I am doing a 30 day juicing cleanse/diet.. ITS SOOOO HARD! i have been doing very well however i was wondering if i could have chicken broth as a suppliment? and if not why. Its only been 5 days since i started and the hunger isnt that bad. it comes and goes in waves.. but i have 4 kids that i have to feed and the temptation is so strong. I think having a cup of chicken broth would help me get through that urge to tast food again. or atleast add some virity to my tounge.. if you have any info or advice i would really appreciate it. also after five days juicing should i be having a bowel movement. because i havent since the first day. thanks again so much!!

I am a 29 year old overweight male. I’ve always had the ability to have a healthy, good sized bathroom break. For about the last week or so, I’ve been eating normally, but I’ve only really had explosive diarrhea, or watery bowel movements with a little bit of soft feces, and a liquid floating on top. The last time I tried to go I ended up passing a small piece of what looked like those sales pictures you see for colon cleanse products. It looked like tripe (cow stomach) you see on the grocery store shelves. I haven’t had the urge to go at all in the past 2 days, but I made myself try to a few minutes ago. After straining almost to the point of passing out, I passed a small, hard grey/green colored clay-like stool.

I’m worried I may be developing, or already have a bowel obstruction, and the diarrhea is squeezing past that. From what I’ve read it could also be IBS (which I am not diagnosed with yet). I am able to pass gas (and a lot of it), but that seems to be all I’m passing lately. Should I worry? To go from one extreme (diarrhea) to the other (severe constipation) doesn’t seem right.

I also have mild stinging pains radiating around my stomach, similar to what I would have before/after having a bout of diarrhea, but nothing seems to want to come out.
I’m freaking out about this and cant even sleep or calm down, so any help would be appreciated. I will call a doctor when they open but until then, I’ll be worrying my butt off.

please help me. ill give you a list of my symptoms, and you tell me what you think. people with irritable bowels syndrome, people who have had or still have colorectal cancer, or any one who has had any similar symptoms……please help.

Symptoms:

1. on many many occasions, i have had flat stools. it comes and it goes…more often it comes.
2. very rarely, i get some mucus when i wipe.
i get a feeling of incomplete evacuations after having a bowel movement. the feeling of still wanting to go remains for some time after the bowel movement. it subsides with time.
3. i tend to go to the bathroom several times per day.
stool is generally formed (solid), but at times it is lose (not quite diarrhea).
4. a feeling of something in the last part of the large intestine…..rectum. like a presence.
5. sudden rectal pain, and discomfort. the pain is not really intense, but it is discomforting.
6. burning sensation in rectum.
7. constipation. i feel the urge to have a bowel movement, but it is hard to pass any stool.
8. some what more gassy that normal.

most of these symptoms are present at one time. other times, i have one or two of them. also, there has been times, just recently, where i get almost all of them at once.

my biggest fear is colorectal cancer.
my questions to those that have had colorectal cancer and survived, and to those who presently have colorectal cancer are:
1. what were/are your symptoms, and do they match mine?
2. when did you first notice any kind of symptoms, and what were they?
3. how did you manage your life during and after?
4. how were you treated?
did you get a colostomy bag, and how did you deal with it?
5. how is your life now?

im getting a barium enema x-ray on friday. by the way, im a 25 year old hispanic male. am i too young?

give me as much info as you can. i want to be well informed.

I’m 27 year old who drives truck for a living. I am a healthy person and I work really hard for my family, anyways a little over 3 year ago I had some rectal bleeding, there was no pain and it was bright red and lasted only a few days. it happened again a year later with the same symptoms. I over looked all this as there was no pain and it went away after a few days. but now that it has happened again I’m not going to over look it, last week I had sever abdominal pain that lasted about ten minutes and then I had the sudden urge to use the restroom and had diarrhea but with no blood(not sure if it’s related to the bleeding or not) that night I ate habanero peppers with my meal and the following day had bright red blood come out, this lasted for 3 days and the blood was mainly on the toilet paper and in the toilet staining it red but also has been on the stool. it went away for a day but then reappeared today. I do plan on seeing a doctor as soon as I’m back in town although I have no health insurance and I’m not really sure where to start either (I want to go to the main guy who will help me asap) should I go to the ER? will they beable to determine anything there?

I just wanted to know if anyone has had these problems and what they might be? where to go? and could the ER determine anything at the hopital? or would they have to send me somewhere else?
I’m always working and have little time to run around thats all I know there is a long list of things it could be but I’m just looking for some advice here. thank you.

For the last year, I have like 3-4 bowel movements per day, but they all seem unfinished, like I still feel like I have more in me, but it doesn’t come out, until I get the urge a few hours later. Yesterday I took a bunch of colon cleanse, and so far I am having a bowel movement every 5 or 6 hours, but not dhiarrea, and it still feels unfinished. I thought with colon cleansers you just have one big dhiarrea movement, but that’s not the case with me. If my system is clogged, what do I do to fix it? Do enemas work? Thank you for your time.

So what can cause sever pain in the rectal region without having any bowel issues or cramps. I have had cramps, constipation, and I know what the urge to go feels like. This was something different. It has happened twice in the past two weeks. Both times the pain lasted a half an hour and both times was in the morning. I woke up from the pain. Also, it has happened in the past but during the middle of the night. I just woke up in horrible uncomfortable pain. AND NO I"M NOT GAY!! SAVE YOUR IDIOTIC COMMENTS FOR SOMEONE ELSE!!!

By the way I eat fairly healthy and use the bathroom regularly with little issues.

I am 20 year old male and sometimes when i get the urge of getting a bowel movement, I sometimes get a sort of spasm like sensation coming from my rectal area…its not exactly a pain, but its a sensation that feels like its sucking in and like a needle prick like at the same time from within…the spasm lasts only like 3 seconds and once i defecate everything is fine.. Is this cause of concern or Is this just normal nerve response from the urge to defecate ?

Or would I need a picture of a donkey’s nut sack to aid in my urge to reach in and fix it?

For the past year or so, I get intense pain whenever I am on my period. The pain is definetely coming from my rectum area. It is a sharp pain and I can feel my feces trying to pass through. I do not have the urge to go when this happens. I think it is the feces passing from the large intestine to the colon, but I can't be sure. What is causing this? Should I see my doctor? Could it be IBS or endometriosis? The pain is getting worse and when I get it, I just feel like keeling over and falling on the floor because it hurts so bad.
