Hello,
I do hope someone can answer some of my questions about mostly "handling" the chemo drug my kitty is starting. He has been diagnosed with GI Lymphoma in small intestines. It’s small cell/low grade. He will be on .5ml Chlorambucil (oral liquid) once daily for 4 days every 3 weeks with .5ml (20mg) Prednisolone (oral liquid) once day, every day. He’s also hyperthyroid (on thyroid med) and has stomatitis (was taking small dose Prednisolone for this).

I’ve read so much about Chlorambucil and to make sure you wear gloves while handling not to mention while cleaning out litter boxes. I have 6 other kitties (ages 1 1/2yrs to 14yrs) in the household as well. Another is hyperthyroid too. Others have no health concerns (knock-on-wood).
My questions are:
Is this just a precaution while handling this drug?
Has anyone else gone to the extreme of isolating their chemo kitty from other kitties in the household?
Throw out their litter boxes after he uses it, replace with new ones?
Will my other kitties be "safe" around him and the litter box he uses?
How should I clean a mess (throw-up, pee etc) should he accidently.
Should I be so paranoid with this chemo drug?

I’ve asked many vets and they don’t seem to be concerned that it will affect any of the other kitties and never mentioned having to wear "gloves" while administering. I’m getting really nervous. Any info would be so deeply appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Thank you for your answer. That was very helpful and is what I’ve been reading while searching the internet as well.

I’ve cleansed my colon with hydrotherapy now I need to do my small intestines

Hi i have recently been diagnosed with crohn’s disease it affects my colon and small intestines , but latly i am having a flar up and i have been getting painful Mouth ulcers do you think this could be related to the crohn’s disease evan if it only affects these 2 areas ?

I have heard of someone that had his small intestines taken out. He then had these tubes put inside him and had a bag that his crap went into. How would he clean the tubes that were surgically put in? Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I have a jack russell terrier pug mix. We had her to the vet the end of February to get her vaccines and then took her 3 days later to get her teeth cleaned. They ended up pulling one of her teeth but they gave her an antibiotic so she wouldn’t get an infection. She was pretty groggy they day of the cleaning and most of the following day. Then she started throwing up her food and drink. We took her back to the vet and they gave us Centrine to settle her stomach down and the vet told us to put her on a white rice and chicken diet (blan). She started eating and drinking again and was able to keep her food down but she started throwing up this mucus. But she doesn’t do this everyday some days she acts completely normal and the next she is back to throwing up. So we took her back to the vet and got xrays done to make sure that she didn’t have a blockage and the only thing the vet found from the xray was she had a gas build up in her small intestines. So he said she had acid reflux and to give her a 1/2 tablet of Pepcid and 1 tablespoon yogurt before bed. So we did this and she took the 1/2 tablet of Pepcid but wouldn’t touch her food or drink. Then we gave her the tablespoon of yogurt before bed and she threw up about a half hour later. Called the vet the next morning and he told us to stop the Pepcid and the yogurt that he thinks instead of her throwing up and heaving that she is coughing up this mucus. He then said she might have a little bit of a sinus drip and just to continue on with the Centrine. She went Wednesday, Thursday and Friday no problems back to her full of energy self. Then this morning when I woke I seen 7 piles of this mucus she has been throwing up. She is on the way to the vet again but has anything similar happen to anyone else?

We have another dog and he is fine no problems with him but he is much bigger then she is. She is only a little over 4 years old and has never had any health problems before. She weighs about 17 pounds. The vet said no infection from where the tooth was pulled either. Just curious to see if anyone else had a problem similar to this.

Small bowel inflammation, infection?
For a week and a half, I’ve been having really bad heartburn which turned into extreme pain across my midsection WITH heartburn. I started taking protonix prescribed by my doctor when it was at first heartburn, but when the pain became severe in my abdomen, I had an upper GI test done which revealed my small intestines were inflamed, then was hospitalized (by a crappy hospital that wanted me to have a ct scan, made me drink the contrast then three hours later realized the barium I had from the upper GI in my system so a ct scan wouldn’t be possible). I have to wait until Monday to have a ct scan but when I got home from the hospital today, I had bright yellow diarrhea … could that be from either of the things I drank, or might it be small bowel bacterial overgrowth (of which yellow diarrhea is a symptom) ? The doctor only said my stool would be white-ish from the barium, nothing about yellow. Also, now I’m pretty painfully constipated, which is probably from the barium.

I’m nervous about getting another IV and drinking more of the nasty contrast on Monday, especially when it might be an infection, which a ct scan wouldn’t find. But what does this sound like?
Do you know how a bacterial infection is tested? Everybody kept ignoring me when I asked.

i want to try it to clean my small intestines out but i dont know if its too much a risk to my health.

a little gurl was sitting in the pool and she was sitting on those suckers that clean the pool and it was sucking so hard that she got stuck ant it sucked out her small intestines sucked out. Then she got loose and got out of the pool and took 2 steps and collapsed

After having a colonoscopy, the surgeon informed my family that I still had bowel in my small intestines, how in the world could that be after taking 4 dokolax pills with a large glass of water and taking 64 OZ’s of Matrix which took over 2 hours, what would cause this?
