and still be able to work and everything? A good friend of mine, he is not an alcoholic, but over the last several weeks, about 2 months, he has been drinking with his friends a lot. This past weekend was his birthday, and he drank a lot. He called and asked me for a ride, and he was almost completely finished with his second bottle of vodka. I know he is really depressed and everything, so I guess he is drinking because of it.
Anyway, he called last night and said he didn’t feel well while he was at work. Constantly going to the bathroom, but not throwing up. His stomach hurt, and his bowels were tearing him up. He came to my house after he got off of work, and it felt like he had a fever, and he was using the bathroom again.
Could these be signs that he has poisoned his body and it is trying to cleanse itself? I think he should go to the hospital.
First off I’m 23 years old. No family history of Colon Cancer.
A year ago I got really constipated. I had a really tough time passing my stool. I finally passed it and immediately after I developed what I thought were hemorrhoids. When I would go to the bathroom I would get a split second sharp pain and when I wiped there would be just a tiny bit of blood on the tissue.
That eventually slowed down and it hasn’t happened in a moth or so. Two weeks ago I developed looser than normal stools. I wasn’t going to the bathroom more or anything, my stools were just very loose. I had no other symptoms. Felt perfectly fine.
I went to the doctor yesterday. I told her all my symptoms. She did a rectal exam as well as tested my stool for blood. She said the rectal exam looked good. No signs of any hemorrhoids or anything. My stool also tested negative for blood.
She said she didn’t suspect I had cancer at all and told me other things that it might be. At this point i’m doing the BRAT diet to see what happens.
Do you think this could still be colon cancer. I have really bad anxiety so I’m naturally worried.
I had a colonoscopy three weeks ago. The doctor said that everything looked normal – no signs of polyps or diverticulitis. I had the colonscopy because I’ve been seeing red blood in my stools and bleeding from my rectum intermittenly. Two days ago I saw bright red blood in my stools. I don’t know if I should follow up with my gastroenterologist or not. I’m not in any pain or discomfort.
If there is no signs of problems should a 85 year old person have this procedure done?
We have an aging male neutered cat who we adopted as a stray yrs ago. He is a diabetic & gets 2cc insulin twice/day. He also gets a strict diet of Feline DM, which is a canned cat food for diabetics. In Jan he showed noticable weight loss & lethargy & when we took him to the vet his intestines had to be manually cleaned out as he was not fully cleaning out. It cost us about 0. Now he is showing signs of the same problem, even tho he now gets a kitty laxitive. Does anyone know of a home remedy we could try to help him? We are far from rich & cannot afford to spend 0 every couple months to get him cleaned out. Thanks, J&C & Sam(the patient)
For the past 8 months my bowel movement has not been normal, I go to the bathroom 2 to 3 times a day, There is no blood but I do get discomfort every now and then. I went to my doctor and he thinks that its because I am eating more fiber and fruits than I normally do. I have never seen blood in my stool, and there is no colon cancer in my family. Should I still go to a specailist? Or do you think its just my new diet? What are the signs of colon caner?
As long as I can remember, I never scored an A+ in going to the bathroom (passing stool) on a daily basis. i know that you’re supposed to go to the bathroom everyday to clean your system. I’ve tried the whole eating more fiber thing, but it didn’t make a major difference… I eat the same thing as most of my friends and family and they don’t have any issues. I’m in my 20s now, and the constipation, bloating, and really hard stool is starting to bother me… I don’t feel much discomfort because I’m used to the constipation. I never told my doctor, because it never worried me… but for some reason, it bothers me now. Today, I had a dull constant pain that lasted for 20 minutes. I didn’t feel like moving so I lied down. It went away, eventually. But now, when I exhale I can "feel" the pain. It’s a very minor pain… nothing like earlier today. I’m wondering if I have some kind of issue with my colon? Also, here are some symptoms/ signs I’ve been noticing… some, I’ve had since forever but the very last symptom is what I’ve been noticing for the past month:
-When I wipe, I notice blood on the toilet paper… minimal amount– I’m guessing it’s due to the torn tissues from passing hard stool… I ALWAYS have to use a plunger because my stool will never flush through :/
-I’m always bloated… but I suck it in (sorta)
-When I do have a stomach ache, I try to "squeeze" so I can pass gas (fart) but sometimes I can’t fart or I’m barely farting (I know that’s a silly description… but that’s the only way I can explain it)
-I’ve been noticing mucous in my stool… usually when I urinate I will notice discharge while wiping… but now I see it in my stool. I’ve also been going to the bathroom more than I usually do… instead of 2-3 a week, it’s every other day if not everyday… but it’s still really hard?
What do you think it is? I am probably going to go see a doctor, but was wondering what you thought… IBD?
Hello,
A little over two weeks ago, I experienced really weird and very painful pain in my upper abdomen. It felt like a wave of pain was going from one side to the other. I never had that before, so I ended up spending a day at the hospital. They made me do blood tests, since they suspected I might have had a case of appendicitis. I also did a few chest x-rays, I believe in order to check if there was any obstruction in my intestine, because they also suspected constipation. None of them turned out positive for any of those signs. The general surgeon could not understand what it was. Whenever he pressed on at the top in between my lower ribs, I would be in a lot of pain. In the end, he told me that I might just have constipation, and to just improve my diet with lots of fiber and liquids.
I began doing so, but then whenever I go to the washroom now, I have rectal bleeding with pain. I find it on the toilet paper and in the bowl as well. I’ve been doing some readings, and what I’ve found was that I might have a case of hemorrhoids, which would explain the bleeding. I’ve been trying to keep up a high fiber diet, although I must admit I might not be taking the 35g recommendation. I will start taking Metamucil, so hopefully that’ll help a bit.
Looking back at what I had, I’m really worried that I might have a type of colon cancer. Is it possible with the symptoms I had/have? Has anyone else experienced this and found any answers?
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help,
Thank you
Are there any sure signs that something is wrong?
How is one to know if they’re intestines/colon is clean? What are the signs?
