Maybe I’m a weiner, but tell me what you guys think. I am just into my 35th week and this is pregnancy #4. I have had cramping for about a week, but nothing regular. For the past 2 days my back has been KILLING me. For 2 weeks I have had serious vaginal pressure, it feels like the baby is going to fall out! Now today I am having these shooting pains in my rectum…it feels like I need to have a huge bowel movement, but when I go to use the bathroom, nothing. My back is in serious pain today, but it’s more of a constant pain with times of sharpness….it really doesn’t let up. Yes, I mentioned all this to my doc a week ago, but he double books himself and he said, sounds normal. I don’t FEEL normal, but like I said, maybe it’s just me. What do you ladies think?

My aunt has had severe crohns for about 5 years now. She has done all she could to avoid having surgery. Up until recently all the doctors had said she should get a colostomy bag and allow her rectal area to heal. She has several fistulas and a lot of scar tissue near her rectum. It has gotten so bad now that the doctors say, it would be best to remove her rectum and mostly all of her large intestine. She has been on imuran and remicade. They said they can not remove the scar tissue from her anal area, because it would leave her incontinent. Does diseased tissue have any chance at all to heal? I dont understand why they dont even try to do a reversible surgery? Why does such a drastic surgery have to be done? From what I have read, it sounds like, she will be in less pain though. No woman wants to have something like this done. It is just awful.
They said they can’t remove the scar tissue from her anal area because it would leave her incontinent. I think she should get a second opinion from another expert also.

i dont think this is a sign of preterm labor/labor but i just wanted to know if any other mothers felt this and what came from it .. havent felt that good the past 2 weeks had small bursts of energy and now im just extremely uncomfortable .. went grocery shopping with my husband and son today and the whole time it just got worse walking around feeling like there was something big in my rectum -sorry for tmi but like a bat inserted in there .. it was a wierd feeling but extremely uncomfortable .. i feel like i have to make a bowel movement but nothing and when i push it gets really uncomfortable and you can feel where my sons head is in the pelvis.. you can also feel the top of his head if you insert a finger in my vagina .. my back also feels like its pulled out but i havent done anything for it to feel like that .. my sons been engaged in the "0" station for the past month month and a half .. but no changes to my cervix as of an internal a weeks and a half ago .. had an ffn test almost 2 weeks ago and that was negative .. i am also treated for preterm labor had my son at 34 weeks and i am 32 weeks currently with this pregnancy .. any other mother felt this ?? and what came from this whole feeling.. thank you ..

I had my baby on 9/24. My tears are mostly healing and my vaginal pain has pretty much disappeared. However, I still need to take stool softeners just to pass a BM. I don’t know if it’s some sort of internal hemorrhoid, but the right side of my rectum has a shooting/stabbing pain every time I go # 2. Sometimes it is so bad I have to hold it in until the stool softener kicks in. Also, sometimes I feel like I still have to go, but when I try to push, it’s like there is no muscle strength down there. Is this normal? I had to push for three hours and the epidural was so strong that I couldn’t feel what I was doing, so I’m wondering if I somehow injured myself. How many weeks is it usual to have this sort of pain?

During my period i seem to randomly experience severe rectal pains.
it feels as if i have very bad trapped wind with a heavy full pain in the pit of my stomach constantly with intervals of stabbing pains that feel isolated to my rectum.
when this occurs, the pain is so bad i feel like i will pass out and it can happen during any activity or during no activity for that matter.
It’s not piles or any form of sti/std (thankfully never experienced one), and i don’t know what is causing it.
it only seems to occur while im on my period.
also, inserting or wearing a Tampon is excruciatingly painful and this is something i never usually have a problem with.
any ideas?

I’ve had aching in my rectum for weeks now.
Today I was worried so I felt up there and there is like…
something there that is part of me.
A soft tissue or something that feels it shouldn’t be there.
No… it feels almost like a hole in soft tissue, but like
it’s just in there. It’s not on the wall or anything.
I’m really scared.

I saw a doc and she said she couldn’t feel it
but maybe because I was too anxious and
she couldn’t get too far.

I’m seeing a surgeon next week
but I’m way too scared to wait.

Like… could it be cancer? The doc I saw
today seemed concerned but didn’t say.

I’m really scared! It’s not bleeding.
No blood at all, just pain.
Contant pain.
Walking makes it worse.

Cancer? What do you think??
I’m 23 by the way.

I was diagnosed with a UTI after complaining of sharp pelvic/abdominal pain. I also described a throbbing/stabbing sort of pain in my rectum that gets worse when sitting and walking. The dr suggested it might just be because of the UTI but I have doubts. I can’t find anything that supports this and it is really killing me! I had some constipation and difficulty going to the bathroom for the past few days but I have gone. It is rather hard, though, but I am not stopped up. Why is it throbbing? Can I get some relief????

I was diagnosed with IBS 3 years ago but over the last 12 months my symptoms have got really bad.
A few weeks ago I started passing blood while trying to make bowel movements, sometimes i didnt actually make a bowel movement just passed blood, this lasted for 3 days
and hasnt happened since,I went straight to my DR who took blood tests and a stool sample, they all came back ok.My GP has refered me back to a gastroenterologist for futher investigation and to check for IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) which my grandmother suffered with.
Over the weekend I have had sever pressure in my rectum and also sharp stabbing pains which woke me up from a sound sleep, also my stomach pains have got alot worse and more frequent than normal,I have made an appointment with my GP for this on Monday.
I was just wandering if anybody knows of anything I could do to ease this pressure and pain in my rectum?
Thanks in advance for any replies :)

I’ve dealt with prostatitis for a few years now. The pain is more in the rectum now. I’ve seen a urologist, he checked the prostate, and it’s not as inflammed as it used to be. I’ve tried anti-biotics and he doesn’t think I need those anymore. There’s no infection.

He thinks it’s more of a muscle/nerve problem "down there." And he’s sending me to a physical therapist. Anyone out there with prostatitis or pelvic floor pain(I know pregnant women can get that pain) gone in for that?
It’s kinda funny because I just got that book. And then went to see my urologist and was going to ask him about it but seems like he’s taking the same approach. And it does make sense.

It all started a year ago when i couldnt go to the toilet and had severe pain in my rectum that i couldnt sit down. i was too embarresed to go to the doctor and tried some over the counter suppositories which initially helped but quickly the constipaion and pain came back. the pain wasnt as severe and ever since it comes and goes normally on a weekly the basis. I only ever get the pain when sitting/driving, and as i work from a desk im almost always sitting down. The pain is never normally there in the morning but as the day goes on i feel it coming on and by the evening i normally need a bath to soothe it. Its more like a burning pain and is bearable but uncomfortable. i’m still having constipation but seeing my doctor for this and am on laxatives and high fibre diet at the moment. The pain is really wierd. its only on one side of my bum! After a while it makes that side of my bum cheek sore too! The other side is fine. i had a "look" in the mirror and cant really see much but it does sometimes look quite red and inflammed. Im 23 years old and female and this is starting to really worry me. When i am really constipated i sometimes pass a little bit of mucus and the otherday there was some blood stained mucus (my doctor is aware of this). The only way i can describe the pain/burning sensation is like a papercut! When i go to the toilet it doesnt hurt when i go but im often left with a more deeper burning sensation afterwards…im confused what this could be….please help!

I just found out most of the people on my dads side died from it by the time they were older like 55 at what age should someone with a family history get checked. Its probably gross but what do they do to check you. I hear they give you diarreha then put a scope in your rectum are you asleep? will it hurt? will the people that give the test know how humiliated you will be?

Hi.
I’m a 20 year old female. Pretty healthy in general.
For the past month or so though, I have had a bad aching
pain in my rectum. This ach is always there and sometimes
I have cramps in my back or my stomach like I have to go
to the bathroom, but I’m not sure that I do.

In fact it kind of feels like I’m full and have to go, but
when I try I usually don’t.

I went to the doctor today and he felt up there
and said everything felt normal, but he
reffered me to a specialist just in case.

My appointment isn’t for a couple weeks and
I just want to know now if this sounds like
it could be something really bad cause I’m
scared out of my mind and can’t sleep.

Does anyone know what this could be?
Cancer came up on a google search for my symptoms, but I don’t have a lot of the symptoms of rectal cancer. But like… is it possible that’s what it is? Damnit, I’m way scared!!

Question: As a piece of bread passes from the mouth to the anus, it goes through various parts of the alimentary canal. List each part starting with the mouth?
DO I HAVE THESE CORRECT:
My answer to this is:
Mouth
Oesophagus
Stomach
Gall Bladder
Bile Duct
Pancreas
Duodenum
Traverse Colon
Jejunum
Ascending Colon
Decending Colon
Illeum
Sigmoid Colon
Rectum
In my Science Text book from High School this is the way it is spelt Oesophagus!!!!

I am having excessive rectal bleeding (like a period). I am wearing a pad to catch the blood. I am also having abdominal cramps and back pain. i have extreme pressure in my rectum. I am not constipated or vomiting. Any "SERIOUS" info would be appreciated.

I’m probably going to have my entire large intestine removed due to colonic inertia, and medications aren’t helping and I’m on tons right now. I recently had a sitz (however its spelled) test and they found a bunch of rings in the Xray. Not good. The doctor said that he’d reconnect the end of my small intestine to my rectum. All I’m asking is .. whats it like to live without a large intestine — I know you go to the bathroom many times a day – but what about your diet? Does that have to change? Please provide me details about this because I know this will be life changing and I’d like to hear from people who’ve had this or know of someone who has.

I got my gall bladder removed a couple months ago and have been having a shooting pain in my rectum. It starts out feeling like I have to pass gas, but it ends up just hurting for a few brief seconds. Is this normal?? Will it go away? I cant handle these butt pains at all!!! Someone tell me I am not alone!!!!

sometimes I get a quick sharp or dull feeling in my rectum. I use feeling, instead of pain, because it doesnt really hurt, it isnt unbareable pain…it happens for a second and then goes away. i’ve been experiencing it for about a month. I think i have experienced it in the pastm but never paid attention to it. I am a 33 yr old female, in good health and have been a vegetarian for 17 years, if that matters at all. i have never seen blood in my stools, can this feeling mean that i have colon or rectal cancer?
thank you..No, I dont have any family history of colon/rectal cancer

I believe after research online that I have IBS. The symptoms started out as going back and forth with very soft to hard stools. Also extreme rectal burning pain that comes and goes. It is so bad sometimes I had started taking motrin, tylenol or Excedrin. I also noticed I have a small bump the size of a bebe on my rectum. Sometimes it feels like I have a cut down there and if urine hits it I want to scream it burns so bad. Lately I have been constipated and not going regularly. I have tried Preparation H but it doesn’t work at all. I don’t think I have hemorrhoids since it isn’t swollen…just the bebe size bump and feeling like a cut sometimes. Up until recently, I have never had issues with constipation and went regularly 3-4 times a day. when I wear nylons since they tighten everything up, I notice I have more problems with the pain. It isn’t non stop, but when it’s really bad I take the over the counter pain medicine that helps relieve it. I don’t have medical insurance so I can’t go to the dr. I think this pretty much covers most of it. This is obviously very embarrassing to talk about, but it is very painful sometimes and I don’t know what to do about it. Any help anyone can provide me would be so much appreciated. thank you so much!

I have been having pain around my rectal area for the past few days. At first I thought that it might be hemorrhoids that I caught early, as there was nothing protruding from the rectum. So I bought hemorrhoidal suppositories and external creme and have been using it. This morning I felt a lot better, but then as the day went on and I went to work and stood for a long period of time the pain worsened. It feels more like my anal cavity is bruised. I am not sure if it is hemorrhoids, or if it could be something else. I’m sorry if I have given too much information, I don’t want to gross anyone out.
I really appreciate all of your help. I have not had any bleeding. However, doesn’t a rectal exam hurt?

Why do we refer to the colon, rectum and anus collectively as the “large intestine” when it is only 1.5 meters long but we call the duodenum, jejunum and ileum collectively as the “small intestine” when it is 6 meters long?

defecation reflex to occur is called the:

a. Rectum
b. ascending colon
c. descending colon
d. appendix

I had a colonoscopy done 3 years ago, they went in through the rectum, I had a friend tell me that I should get an endoscopy where they go in through the mouth, I asked if this would reach my colon and he said yes, is this true too?

I woke up from a tooth extraction with the most terrible pain in my rectum. I know tight pants isn’t the cause because the dentist told me to wear loose-fitting pants that are easy to take off. What could be the problem?

Deep and loud burping for hours after I eat brocolli, potatoes, starches, or dairy. I feel a lot of pressure and sometimes sharp pains in my stomach along with rumbling after I have a big meal. I will only have a bowel movement every couple of days or so and it never seems like it gets fully released when I do go. Sometimes a get sharp pains up my rectum as well.

Hi , I am 24 yo I never smoked never did drugs drank rarely, I have been experiencing a constant low intensity rectal pain for about couple of weeks. Also lately i have had low blood pressure and weakness. I dont have medical insurance so i havent been to the doctor. Dont know what to do but i suspect something wrong with colon, rectum or prostate. I am still hoping it all goes away, i am scared. Wish there was a way for me to get treatment and start paying once i have means to.
