My mum just had a surgery 3 days ago to remove a colon cancer at the caecum. CT scan showed that it had not spread to other organs (No distant metastasis). Histopathology finding: Infiltrating moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The colorectal surgeon said whether the lymph nodes were affected or not would be confirmed after surgery and samples sent for testing. So we were hoping it would be a T3N0M0 type of cancer.

After surgery, I read surgeon’s operative findings: 1) Ca Cecum cT3N1M0, 2) No peritoneal seedlings, 3) Nodes present at right colon masentery, and 4) No ascites.

My questions:
1) Prior to pathology report, can the surgeon confirm the lymph nodes are infected?
2) My mum is 80 years old. If confirmed T3N1M0 and chemotherapy is required, should she go for it given her old age?
3) What is the survival rate with T3N1M0 surgically removed but no chemotherapy done?

Any help in enlightening me and clearing my doubts would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I have had mono for almost 10 months now. My lifestyle is very stressful. I work 16 – 20 hour days regularly, I have a very tense situation at home and I am too exhausted to do much cooking or exercise.

I was wondering if there were any nutrient rich foods that didnt require much preparation. I eat my breakfst lunch and dinner on the go or on a lunch break. What can I eat at work that will really give my organs the boost i need to get better?

Also, I have been considering detox/colon cleansing. Will this help?

My 10 1/2 yr old female Airedale was diagnosed with a rectal tumor yesterday. It’s the size of a quarter and is very close to her anus. She is constantly licking and seems like she’s trying to poop out the tumor. The vet said that they can operate by doing a rectal pull, where they pull out the tumor through her anus and cut it out that way. There is a risk of permanent incontinence afterwards, but they say that the chances are small. There’s a 50/50 chance of getting all the cancer cells and paired with chemo, there’s a good chance that she’ll fully recover (if there aren’t any complications). The tumor is locally aggressive (meaning that it most likely won’t spread to other organs) but will get bigger and bigger until she won’t be able to poop anymore. The average lifespan of an Airedale is 11-12yrs, so the prognosis if we do surgery and chemo is probably a year (and who knows if she’ll need a second round of chemo treatments). If we just put her on pain meds, prognosis is 4-6 months. I love her so much, but I don’t want to put her through surgery AND chemo (we’re looking at 4 months of chemo) and then go through a period of not-so-healthy times followed by maybe 2 or 3 months of semi-ok health followed by a fast decline of health for a month or two. They want to schedule her for surgery at the end of this week, but today she was out playing with our two other dogs (we have two of her pups from her litters) and we went for a nice walk around the block. I don’t want to take these happy times away from her…. but I also don’t want her to be in pain…. but I also don’t want to cause so much physical stress on her just because I want to have her around for a few extra months longer. What do I do?? The surgeon phoned us today and made it seem that if we don’t do surgery, we’d be doing her a great injustice by giving her 4-6 months of pain leading up to the tragedy of not pooping…… he said if it was his dog, he’d do the surgery in heartbeat (but he also doesn’t have to shell out 00+ for surgery) but our oncologist says that whatever decision we make will be the right one. I just don’t want to be always asking, "what if". Help!!

i know its probably not common, but my mom only weighs like 85 lbs so maybe i just get a really small thin frame from her or could i have internal problems? i workout and have lots of energy and feel great. i even have some pretty nice overall muscle definition and large bicepts, i dont quite have a 6pack yet but im getting there. i dont get how i can weigh so little, especially having muscle too, i thought muscle was heavy.

oh, and i know ill probably get 10 answers saying go see a doctor, i did and he saw me for about 5 seconds and said i was fine. doctors are a waste of time. i want some second opinions on here. thanks alot

i recall reading that eating lots of meat and processed food can make your organs work harder, enlarging them and making them weigh more, and eating a typical american diet can really clog you up with an extra 30-40 lbs lining your intestines.

i only eat clean healthy food i grow in my garden so maybe this has something to do with it?

For quite a long time, I have had this persistent abdominal pain in the upper and lower quadrants of my left abdomen. Sometimes the pain radiates into my back, the entire left side. Sometimes it goes down to my groin. I have had an abdominal ultrasound which came back normal except for some extra blood in my cul de sac. My doctor doesn’t think that there’s anything seriously wrong with me because my blood came back good and I’ve done a fecal occult test and a digital rectal exam which came back normal. I am scheduled to do an IVP early next year. I don’t think my problem is reproductive as my organs were normal on the ultrasound and the pain is always there, not just during my period. Sometimes its really bad but for the most part it is a dull, throbbing ache. I have no idea what it is and it is worrying me… anyone have any insights

My mother had Stage 3 Uterine Cancer, which she had a total hysterectomy and all organs were removed in October, and she finished her last chemo on April 29th, but just this week was back in hospital for partial lower bowel obstruction and fluid build up in abdomen, especially around liver.

The good thing is they drained the fluid and the obstruction was not large, but I was wondering if all this could be a way her body is trying to rid itself of toxins from radiation and chemo. She is feeling weak, so I was wondering about any good regimens for helping her to cleanse her system and detox to get stronger and get rid of the toxins?

I already found out about Milk Thistle and Dandelion for the liver, so if any other remedies are known please share!!

Thanks so much.

Also at times there is some itching at certain areas that seem to be under the skin.
My abdominal and pelvic ultrasound showed up normal.

I have 2 JRT’s One is 3 that is OZ who you see pictures of and the his brother is Russy and hes 2. He is on OZ’s page he is the one with the wired hair. Well Russy has began to have medical issues this past month. He began to have allergies that were making his belly and paws red. This was being treated with Pretezone from my vet. (I am sorry for the spelling on some of the medication I mention) This medication began to get him real down and sleepy so my vet changed the medication to Medrol. He was on Medrol for 8 days and this past wednesday the 8th he began to vomit. He vomited a total of 11 times that day. The first two times he vomited a bit of his food and the rest was just water that he had drank the rest of the day. He lost his appetite and does not want to eat anything. From peanut butter to soft food I mean nothing. He was put on medication for the vomiting Sucralfate, Metoclopramide and one more that I can not remember. This did not help and He has become more weak and does not want even water at this point. Saturday I took his back to the vet and had more X-rays were taken along with blood work and urinary analysis. His X-rays show that his intestines might have a blockage. The X-rays show a bit of cloudiness but nothing significant that can be seen. He is currently in the hospital on IV and fluids. A Barium was done today so maybe we can get a clearer idea with new X-rays if something is blocking his intestines. The Barium was negative and the fluid passed right through all his organs. The next step was an ultrasound that also came back negative. All of his organs from kidneys to liver were fine. He had a pendesitis test ran to rule out diabetes and that came out okay as well. The blood work did show some high and low levels of many things but the vets say that can be to not eating for 5 days and not receiving the proper nutrition were the body is starting to brake down its own body fat. My next option is Exploratory surgery. I am positive that he has not gotten into anything that he might have swallowed but with JRT you never know. They are quick, curious and sneaky. I keep my yard extremely clean and my house has never had any toxins like cleaning supply or garage stuff left out. I will do anything for my JRT but I fear that after the surgery I will still not have any answers to why he has not appetite for 5 days going on to 6.
Has anyone ever had any issues similar to mine?
If anyone can offer any advice it would be great. I love my JRT I do not have kids so these are my kids. I am desperately seeking answers.!

Im 21 years old been having a lot of abdominal discomfort for 2years been to numerous doctors with no answers. So they are going to do endoscopy and colonoscopy on me. Should i be worried? is this a safe procedure? Im terrified.
Is the sedation medicine safe? I keep hearing about people getting ruptured organs during this. Is that rare?

If the stomach or transverse colon were
to rupture, the contents would leak into the peritoneal cavity and
possibly contaminate the entire abdominal cavity.
Which organs would be affected by this peritonitis?

I know someone who was told that they will have to do abdominal chemo flushes for rest of their life. It is a bi-weekly basis. They have cancer cells growing on the connective tissues of their organs. They have had colon cancer and crohnes disease as well. Overall its not good. Just want to know how long can a body can hold up to the chemo before the chemo destroys the body’s defenses.

My dad has been seeing his regular doc for past year for persistant diahreah; doc never even did rectal exam; sent to my doc FINALLY who did rectal exam, ordered stool + bloodwork on 1st visit!!! Recently dad diagnosed w/Stage 4 rectal cancer! I am super curious if anyone can give even a rough ESTIMATE of how long it would take for the tumor to grow SO LARGE, into other organs, lymph nodes + low back and colon invasion. Surely his own doc should have ordered at least some tests. dad also presented with radical weight loss also; I am super concerned that by time we get to his oncologist on 09/18 little can be done; stint put in; doc said barely able to put in as tumor had opening size of a pinhole!! My dad has little pain but did present to his own doc over a year ago multiple symptoms that point directly to possibility of cancer! How long b4 it moves to other organs, lymphs, bones..just a rough estimate please. AM DEVISTATED TO SAY THE LEAST !! MANY THANKS FOR ANY INFO…..

Experimental Cancer Treatment?

I’m 22 years old, to some this may seem dumb, but I need to try everything. But you never know if someone out there knows of a good experimental treatment that has high counts of success.

My mom has been battling cancer off and on. It started in my freshmen year with stage 4-colon cancer. 7 years later it has spread into different organs but she has been able to concur the problem at times, and even went into remission. She has been in remission for almost a year, and about three months ago she found out the cancer had spread to her liver. After of having been on several different forms of chemotherapy, including being on the pump, the doctors had her try the one last form of chemo they could think of to battle the cancer. After 2 months the doctors said the treatment hadn’t helped her at all.

After consulting with several doctors they seem to feel that they have no treatments left to try on my mom to fight off the cancer and the only option was experimental drugs.

Has anyone heard of any experimental drugs having high success? If she doesn’t find one that does they’re not sure how much longer she could fight off the cancer.

Thank You

The general rules of evolution and random factors make cancer, miscarriages, and various congenital diseases a simple fact of nature. What do these same things say about a creator being? Some of the idea’s given in here about why we have cells growing out of control (cancer), organs developing in less than sufficient ways (congenital heart disease), and embryo’s developing in ways that do not support life (miscarriage’s) just do not make a bit of sense to me. I simply cannot believe that I have heart disease because some cave man (Adam) messed up. I also cannot accept that my sister lost most of her colon to cancer because an "all loving" creator being caused, or allowed, it to happen. Feel free to explain whatever you believe.

And what books do you recommend for reading to educate myself on the disease itself. All I can find are GF cookbooks. I want to edcuate myself on the disease and how it affect my entire body system. If I eat gluten, how will that affect my other organs, blood system, skin… I have another autoimmune disease, so adding this one on top of it isn’t helping. But my 2 doctors don’t seem concerned & tell me very little. And I feel like crap 24/7. Low energy and weak.
Can anyone advice me on where to go for more education onf the celiac disease so I can help myself? Thanks!

I peel and devein shrimp a lot, and i noticed that besides the brain, and the "vein" that really acts more like an intestine, i see no other organs, unlike the chickens and fish that i clean too. Do they have organs, or are they just too small, or are they the same texture as the rest of the meat?

Question on regions of organs? Please help, I have answers but am unsure of the regions!!?

Which region is the transverse colon located within?
a. Right hypochondriac
B. Epigastric
c. Umbrilical
D. Left lumbar
E. Hypogastric

Which region is the appendix located within?
a. right inguinal (iliac)
b. right lumbar
c. left inguina (iliac)
d. hypogastric
e. left hypochondriac

It clean your organs and it’s a 3 months program. It’s for both men and women. It cleans you intestines, liver kidneys blood and you can lose weight because of the cleansing

The lungs and the small intestine both have large surface area. Why does each of these organs need a large surface area? What task does each perform?

A person very dear to me had colon cancer in 2007 and had a successful surgery to remove the tumor. She also had some months of coadyuvant therapy (chemo?). There have been further (clean) colorectal exams but I wonder which other exams are ordered in the first year or two following the surgery to guard against possible spread to other organs?
She has regular blood exams, every 6 months. Had recently (1 yr) a colonoscopy that came out good. But no CT scan which is what worries me.

My boyfriends ex (mother of his son) was diagnosed recently. I don’t know many details besides it hasn’t spread to any other organs and they told her she’ll need about 2 chemo treatments. I just wanted to know how long the treatments usually take? Also does this sound like a beatable cancer?
