My mom got gastric bypass and they nicked her intestines and didn’t realize it. Well the next day she got very sick and went into sepsis. She has been in ICU now for 22 days and is still running a fever and is still asleep. They have "cleaned" her out 8 times now. I wonder if she will ever get better and if she does, how long is it gonna take?
My Mom’s ex is at our house right now resting from surgery on his colon. He’s about 50…had no friends, so my mom is helping him. Anyway…why would something like this need to be done?
Hi, I am eleven years old and have a pretty good health history and I don’t get sick very often. I didn’t pass bowel movements for a week or so, and I told my mom. A day later I finally went just a tiny bit. It’s been three days since I’ve passed a bowel. Finally, just now, I went. This is gross, but I couldn’t go so I stuck toilet paper on my finger and put it up my anus. I took it out and there was a big amount of blood. I repeated the process and showed my mom. Then, I went a couple pebbles of bowel movement, and there was blood. She said she wasn’t too concerned. I kept trying to go and it was painful. I don’t think I got all my bowel out, but now my anus feels really swollen and it really hurts. It almost feels like it’s "tight." There was also some dark mucus in my bowel. I didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary. I looked at my butt on the inside in the mirror and there are three giant red swollen lumps inside. My mom said they are hemorrhoids and was puzzled because she never heard of a child getting one. She bought me some cream but i’m still on the toilet for hours and hours in bouts of pain. I have anxiety and don’t feel comfortable with a doctor looking in there. I got pepto bismol, stool softener medicine, cream, and an enema. I used the enema and it really stung. All that came out was the enema, and it looked like my butt was urinating. It also burned. I just went and a gallon of mucus came out. What should I do? Could it be something other then a hemorrhoid? What could it be?
how will i get rid of then if they are hemmorhioid im 14 so people said iwas to young for cancewr im not telling my mom how can i get rid of em they hurt really bad
i have a friend whos mom just died from liver cancer. she refused treatment becasue she had already gone through colon cancer.
My mom said it is but I really want to try it I want to show her it’s not
I had the craziest, weirdest, disturbing dream ever a couple nights ago. i had a dream that my mom told me that i need to clean out my closet, and she came in my room and helped me, but when she cleaned out my closet, she cleaned out my intestines. Nothing happened to me. i didn’t die or didn’t feel anything, however it was a weird feeling that i had. Like i had a big empty hole inside me. Then she did the same thing to herself and my dad. Then she cooked them up and ate them. This happened twice in my dream. The dream ended when i told her that i was tired of eating them because they tasted weird and she agreed. That was it. Does it mean something bad??
I have worked in the GI feild for several years and i am aware of the basic symptoms of colon cancer. Recently (as in the past 2 or 3 days or so) my mom’s health has taken a 180 turn. Vomiting, nasua, black watery stools, weakness, etc…with no fever….the first thing that comes into my mind is signs of colon cancer…maybe its just me being paranoid but we have a bad history in our family of this and she also has had ibs in the past (which increases your risks) she has had a colonoscpoy in the past and everything was good….shes now due for one…i reffered her to one of my old drs i used to work for..but..i want to know if you or anyone u know personally with colon cancer had any symptoms prior to a colonscopy and detecting the cancer? and what made you think you may have colon ca?
My mum went to her doc yesterday (routine checkup) and they found a palpable mass in her lower abdomen – about 1-3 inches below her naval and slightly to the right. I could even feel it…it was at least 1-2 inches and hard, lumpy and not painful. My mom said she noticed it for a few weeks. What possibly could this mass be? We are scheduling a follow up appt with the surgeon as advised.
Additional details: She has a history of breast cancer (triple negative) in 2006 with no metastasis and clean lymph nodes. She also had a transverse colon resection surgery 2 months ago after a routine colonoscopy showed a mass. The surgeon only had to remove 3 inches of the transverse colon (which is above the naval) during a laproscopic procedure. The final pathology from the resection came back benign. My mum is not sure if she noticed the new palpable mass before or after this surgery.
So my question is, what could the palpable mass be? Cancer, scar tissue, other ????
MAYBE my question is too long for some people. However, in it I stated …..SHE JUST SAW HER PRIMARY CARE DOC. She is scheduling an appt with the surgeon. SHE IS UNDER MEDICAL CARE.
I’m just looking into gathering possibilities of what it might be so I can research and ask the correct questions when we see the surgeon.
Two months after a colectomy,my mom recently had a brain scan which showed 2 nodules in the left parietal lobe. The doctors have ruled out TB and toxoplasmosis. Her doctor says that colon cancer can not spread to her brain without affecting the liver. Is that True?
I’m 16. A few days ago I got this weird rectal pain, but then it went away. I thought nothing of it. Then the days after I was having weird stomach pains. I thought it was just gas, or weird bowel things going on. But today I’m having really bad rectal pain. It hurts all the time. My bowel movements are normal, however. And if I go from standing to sitting down, something pulls up higher in my stomach and into my back. I also feel bloated, like theres something inside of me. I’ve also been feeling like I really have to go to the bathroom, but I never have a full bladder.
Can anyone give me advice? I only came on here because talking about it to my mom or doctor is kinda embarrassing.
i’m a girl. didn’t the name give it away?
i’m sure its not gas because i know what a ”gasy” stomach feels like.
I am 15 years old, and need to know about a natural bowel cleansing idea.
I have a bad stomach/intestines. I have gastritis, inflammation of my colon, erosion, and ‘white scarring,’and pain, and no prescribed medicine has treated any of these symptoms. I used to have to get an endo- and colonoscopy monthly to check up on my backed up bowels and etc. Since then, I haven’t been able to use any laxative to help clean me out.
There is a gross tasting lemon-like formula available at a pharmacy or store, I think it’s liquid magnesium, the doctor made me drink two bottles of it before the procedure, and it made stool liquid until it was gone…but I think I had to take a pill with it, and I don’t know where to get the liquid, and if I have to be a certain age. Now I obv. can’t get the pill because I don’t see the doc. anymore.
Is there any liquid or pill that I can take available to 15 year olds to help cleanse my bowels in the span of 1 to 2 days w/ fasting? (Not a continual med.)
The reason I want to know is because although there is no discomfort, I have "constipation," I only go to the bathroom a couple times a week. And I like the feeling of being clean, my intestines feel nice, haha. But also, my Mom thinks what I want to do is gross…so I need alternative help or recommendations!
I have a gastroenterolgoist, but she isn’t very experienced. And, she no longer wants to see me because she thinks it’s rheumatology/immunology related. I can’t get another one, there is none close. I don’t have a good doctor, so I can’t get far there….I wish I was older so I could drive where I needed to and fend for myself! Once I’m 16 or 17 I will deff. look for new doctors. Thankyou for your concern and answers. Unfortunately, I guess I probably won’t be able to cleanse my bowels on my own :/
My mom is 58 years old, she had colon cancer 8 years ago, she was clear for 7 years and in the last year has had a tumor form in her pelvis and spots on her lungs, both biopsied and results showed the same as her colon cancer. Yesterday she was diagnosed by x-ray of having stomache cancer, no biopsy yet to see if it is the same cancer, but assuming it is what is her chances of survival? She has lost 75 pounds in a year, 25 or more in the last 2 weeks while hospitalized. She has needed a blood transfusion, and went into renal failure 2 weeks ago. (she only has one kidney) She cannot eat solid foods, she will vomit, she has no appetite and is nautious all the time even with anti nausea meds. She is in extreme pain some days. The other night they maxed her out on narcotics, couldnt give her anymore without it being unsafe.
also she has had a colostomy bag for the past year because of the pelvic tumor.
so how bad does this sound and what is her treatment options and chances?
My mom had colon cancer and I was just wondering if there was a certain age that it is recommended I should get checked out.
Thanks!
Hey everyone! My mom was diagnosed with colorectal cancer a few weeks ago. She is starting chemotherapy today, and I don't know much about the treatment. Does anyone know about it? I would appreciate any help! Thanks!
