I have IBS and IBD (proctitis -constipation with 2-3 healthy bowel movements (BM) a week). I have not had a regular bowel moment in 4 months. I eat a high fiber diet, no caffine only water. I recently went almost 2 weeks without a BM. I took 2 Xstrength EXlax, metamucil, 2 enemas and one bottle of Fleet and nothing came out. I had xrays and it showed that I have massive constipation. I am seeing a specialist next month.
I have been on a 3 month colon cleansing system for two weeks, taking 3 240mg stool softeners per day and still nothing. I have developed lower back pain and find it hard to stand straight or lay flat. I am always hungry and no matter how much sleep I get I am always tired. I have a 4-5 gumball pellets BM every couple of days – I think there is no room for the food I eat so some has to come out. Also have rectal bleeding – no hemmoroids. I have lost a couple of pounds. Bad stomach cramps.
Any suggestions on what may be wrong or what I can do?
This is so hard for me to talk about, but I’ve been having trouble having a bowel movement for the past 5 months now. I eat incredibly healthy, stay away from fast-foods, fried foods, and junk food in general. I eat a lot of fiber to try to make myself go to the restroom more, and drink a lot of water. I’ve tried probiotic yogurt and drinks, colon cleanses, Metamucil fiber pills, i have even had to use laxatives a few times since i hadn’t had a bowel movement in around 5 days..I am now starting these new pills that are supposed to help digestion. They aren’t doing much.
Can you help me figure out what to try to aid in bowel movements, or have you heard of any of these cases before? What do you suggest?
Thank you!
I recently brought home an english bulldog and I took her to the vet because she was having trouble pooping. The vet said her colon was completely blocked. However the vet wants my dog to stay on a canned food diet for the rest of her life. Preferably iams or eukanuba the vet suggested. However canned food is so much more expensive than dry food. Would it be okay to buy dry food and grind it up into a powder form and add water? And then any food left over refrigerate it like canned food? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also the vet has added metamucil to her diet and a prescription called cisapride to keep her colon functioning properly.
Okay, well i had baskin robbins today, and it killed me. Because of the milk. Now, im so consipated! I need to make a bowel its just its going to be huge and hurt really bad! I took a glass of Metamucil with fibersure in it, and like 8 colon cleanse pills, with 10 flax seeds, with a glass of water with fiber sure in it! For around six years my husband has experienced abdominal pain, bloating, cramping, constant diarrhea(multiple loose Bm’s every day during this time) with bleeding in sometimes large amounts. We have done cultures, blood tests, xrays, full colonoscopy, and biopsies for cancer. Everything has come back normal. He supposedly has no hemorroids, tears, or ulcers to explain the bleeding(which is bright red so it’d be lower?) After so many years we’re out of idea’s. Do you have any? My husband is only 23.
No…he has diarrhea. Not just now and then, but -every- day for six years… I think you may have skipped over some details…not to be mean or anything, but…
We had him tested for Chrohns but then again his doc seemed incompetent…
Thank you so much everyone. I atleast have a few new things to go on. Hopefuly theyll find something before anything serious like surgery. Thank you again all.
I’ll definitely try the metamucil. I wont mind him talking about it if it works. Hehe
Hello,
A little over two weeks ago, I experienced really weird and very painful pain in my upper abdomen. It felt like a wave of pain was going from one side to the other. I never had that before, so I ended up spending a day at the hospital. They made me do blood tests, since they suspected I might have had a case of appendicitis. I also did a few chest x-rays, I believe in order to check if there was any obstruction in my intestine, because they also suspected constipation. None of them turned out positive for any of those signs. The general surgeon could not understand what it was. Whenever he pressed on at the top in between my lower ribs, I would be in a lot of pain. In the end, he told me that I might just have constipation, and to just improve my diet with lots of fiber and liquids.
I began doing so, but then whenever I go to the washroom now, I have rectal bleeding with pain. I find it on the toilet paper and in the bowl as well. I’ve been doing some readings, and what I’ve found was that I might have a case of hemorrhoids, which would explain the bleeding. I’ve been trying to keep up a high fiber diet, although I must admit I might not be taking the 35g recommendation. I will start taking Metamucil, so hopefully that’ll help a bit.
Looking back at what I had, I’m really worried that I might have a type of colon cancer. Is it possible with the symptoms I had/have? Has anyone else experienced this and found any answers?
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help,
Thank you
After reading detailed reviews about people taking colon cleansers and seeing various sci-fi like things come out of themselves, I’m wondering if detox is really useful or not. I once took a 7 day Cleanse program from GNC, and I felt better after using it, but I don’t know if that had more to do with my healthy diet and exercise. I saw all these pictures of intestinal goop and while most research says that the liver can do just fine detoxing the body, what about the goop? All of that stuff can’t be good in the colon, but does it present dangers to ones health to take all that fiber and who knows what else? Technically, what would that in depth, complicated colon cleanse offer that say, a dose of Metamucil couldn’t? All those reviews said they got flatter stomachs, better sleep habits, etc etc etc… What is happening here? I find myself oddly interested in a program, but I don’t want to just be in the bathroom all the time, especially at work.
Thanks!
Metamucil seems a little more safe then taking pills and it is all about adding fiber to the diet. So I am thinking Metamucil would be a good way to cleanse, versus buying the pills.
