He said to follow up with a colon & rectal surgeon if the pain persists, but I am 20 years old and I don’t have health insurance. I don’t know what health insurance I should get and I don’t make much money either. I’m so stressed and confused. I just want some help with my pain but it seems like I can’t get it treated. =( I hate going to use the toilet because it hurts so much.

Plus I think it’s not just hemorrhoids, I think I may also have an anal fissure and possibly something else. What do I do?

I am CONSTANTLY in the bathroom. At first I was thinking that it was just my period. But I have been keeping a closer eye on it, and it seems to be all the time. I haven’t changed my diet at all. The only difference in anything is that I had a baby in December. But this didn’t start until February or March. Could it be IBS all of a sudden?

2 days ago I had a bowel movement and was shocked to see it was covered in blood.It wasn’t mixed in it was just on the top. When I wiped there was a small amount on the tissue also. Today it happened again but not as much. I do have external hemorrhoids that don’t hurt but they’ve been there for awhile. I wonder if I could have internal hemorrhoids. I have a burning feeling in that area but nothing major. When I had the first bowel movement I had gas and had to go 3 times resulting in the last stool being bloody. I wasn’t constipated so that wasn’t the problem. I have no health insurance and am worried that I need a colonoscopy

I’m a 26 year old female with three kids. I’ve had trouble with GI/rectal bleeding for about seven years but it seems to have worsened to include abdominal pain. I have a GI appointment next week but I just learned, today, that my blood test shows an abnormally high sed rate. I’m concerned that this increases the likelihood of cancer. My follow up w/ my GP is one week after my GI appointment. Should I be pushing for faster treatment? Please no sarcastic remarks. I know it is an embarrassing area and it is a real pain in the @$$…trust me I’ve already gone over all the bad jokes in my own mind. I really need good opinions from folks. Thanks!
I just saw the doctor for this recently. I’m just trying to find out why I’m bleeding and hurting at this point. Nothing has been diagnosed yet. I’m a little antsy as my insurance coverage may end in Feb.

My dad was in the hospital with a bad colon disease for like 4 months. After almost 800,000 dollars in medical expenses, many surgeries, a ton of medicine, and MANY prayers, he recovered! How could he have recovered if it wasn’t for those prayers?

I had a colonoscopy last year and received 2 separate bills for anesthesiologists. (Both of which were denied by my insurance.) When I called to inquire, I was told that I should have only requested 1 for the procedure. How is someone supposed to know they would automatically get 2? I’m stuck with 2 at 0 a pop!
I was only out for 15-20 minutes. I was told after being billed that one was a nurse and the other was an anesthesiologist. I just don’t understand why it was necessary to be charged for 2 on a very simple procedure. It must be "normal" to have 2 present. (My health insurance didn’t even cover 10% of the roughly ,000 it cost for the procedure.)
I didn’t even want the procedure and had no idea how much cost was involved. I wasn’t aware that I could have requested to have no anesthesia. I didn’t even "NEED" the procedure. It was done to rule out any internal problem causing tailbone pain. I’m just angry because I never would have had it done. The surgeon said it would be half the cost of having it done in a hospital. 00 is HALF of what I could have been charged? Yeah, right.

I was reading recently that insurance companies are now using family history to calculate rates and even deny coverage where they can perceive a loss or bad investment. I believe most corporate employees are protected from such scrutiny and must be allowed to join group policies except where pre-existing conditions allow the insurance company to opt out. But, self-employed or employees of say a small private school may not he able to obtain reasonably priced coverage because their Mom’s dad had a heart attack, colon cancer, etc…

My dad has no health insurance because he was recently fired from his job. He has always had constipation and lethargy due to a poor diet, lack of exercise, and lack of sleep. The other day he told me that he had a strange sense of fullness. We had dinner at 8 pm at night and he told me he was still full at 2 pm the next day. His exact words after dinner were "I could have eaten more" and then the next day he says "I feel really full for some reason". I thought it was strange and then on in the week he told me he had a bloody stool. He is trying to calm himself down by saying it is just hemorroids but I think it could be early stages of colon cancer and he is deluding himself. Without health insurance, what should he do?

My dad whom is 50 has been experiencing some rectal bleeding. He says every time he goes to remove his feces, a handfull of blood comes out with it. He would go to the hospital, but we have no insurance at all to cover the costs and we are low-middle class. How bad is it? What can we do? He says he is dizzy, and he says it’s probably blood loss. I have been experiencing bad bloating after eating as well as stomach pain under my ribs. I am very uncomfortable and often have muscle issues with my back in particular. I believed to have had gallstones but I went to the ER yesterday and had an ultra-sound which showed nothing. I did not get to talk to a doctor because the free clinic sucks. I do not have insurance. The doctor at another clinic emailed his results and a nurse read them to me saying that he believed it is either an Ulcer or Acid Reflux.

Today I woke up and passed a bowel movement which looks very different than I have ever had before. I researched the white stringy substance attached to my bowel and it appears that I have a parasite??

I have noticed that several of the symptoms are similar between ulcers/acid reflux and parasites, but wouldn’t the ultra-sound have shown that I have worms?

They want me to go do an x-ray for ulcers but again I don’t have insurance and my last hospital visit lasted 12 hours and I never spoke to a doctor.

So here’s my 3 questions. 1. Does this sound like a parasite? 2. Why wouldn’t it have shown up in my ultra-sound. 3. What should I do now? Can I just take an over-the-counter colon cleanse?

Male 52 Yrs. old with pain in lower back and right shoulder and arm. Have had pain for 1 month and am taking lots of Tylenol. Even high doses of Sodium Naproxen that the Doctor prescribed would not kill the pain. The Tylenol works for a short time than wears off, but seems to work better than the Sodium Naproxen. Man was in hospital for emergency rectal abcess, and had to have two incisions made on rectum to drain the infection. Man received an antibiotic called Keflex, and 2 bags of very strong Antibiotic diluted in IV. Now man is bleeding from rectum and has a yeast infection on the scrotum. Man has no Health Insurance and does not know what to do. Man has become extremely depressed. Please Help him!!!

I’ve been having symptoms of colon or anal cancer for several months now, but will not have insurance coverage until jan or feb!! I’ve been avoiding going to the emergency room or some clinic because I’m scared that if it is discovered before insurance, it will be considered a pre-existing condition and they will not cover treatment related to the cancer. Not sure what to do or if that is even the case. Any advice? Thanks, I’m praying that it is nothing serious.

On many occasions the toilet bowl has been completely red after a movement.
Pain after movements for several hours.
Pain during movements (even it is soft).
The blood is bright red.

10 yr old hospitalized with impacted colon a month ago (Oct 2008). Fiber diet continued, also doctor recommends adult doses of Miralax. Bowls will not move naturally. No feeling of pressure that time to sit on toilet. After dose of Miralax, soiling — like cowpatch and leakage in between still. Want to avoid impacted colon again. Removing colon recommended by NJ doctor’s report–nerve damage diagnosed. Trying now biofeedback, but insurance won’t cover more than one session. Desperate for help. Thanks. –momoma

I seem to have fairly poor digestion. I eat at least 20 grams or more fiber a day, and drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Usually more. And I still seem to have poor bowel movements. I’m not sure what else is causing it. I seem to have a lot of gas, if that helps in figuring it out. I don’t want to have to take laxatives. I want to do this as natural as possible. Would doing a one-time colon cleanse help get things moving normally again? Oh, I also take acidophillus(sp?) and papaya enzyme pills. I don’t get many fruits or veggies, and not a lot of protein. I also do at least a half hour of DDR six days a week. Any ideas on what could be wrong without going to see a doctor? I have no insurance at the moment so I’d like to be a last resort. Thank you.

Forgot to add I don’t eat fast food, but I do eat canned soup and one Fiber One bar a day. That’s all the processed food I eat.

only real doctors or pharmacists please, unless you have had my problems. is there any product out there that can completly numb rectal pain? i have had surgeries on hemmoroids and didnt seem to help with pain. i take all of the fiber i am supposed to and dont have a problem with constipation, just terrible awful pain. i often cry and cant walk it is so bad. i am not exaggerating at all.please someone help me. i no longer have insurance and cant afford to go back to my speacialist. what product will numb and be safe?

I’m 27 year old who drives truck for a living. I am a healthy person and I work really hard for my family, anyways a little over 3 year ago I had some rectal bleeding, there was no pain and it was bright red and lasted only a few days. it happened again a year later with the same symptoms. I over looked all this as there was no pain and it went away after a few days. but now that it has happened again I’m not going to over look it, last week I had sever abdominal pain that lasted about ten minutes and then I had the sudden urge to use the restroom and had diarrhea but with no blood(not sure if it’s related to the bleeding or not) that night I ate habanero peppers with my meal and the following day had bright red blood come out, this lasted for 3 days and the blood was mainly on the toilet paper and in the toilet staining it red but also has been on the stool. it went away for a day but then reappeared today. I do plan on seeing a doctor as soon as I’m back in town although I have no health insurance and I’m not really sure where to start either (I want to go to the main guy who will help me asap) should I go to the ER? will they beable to determine anything there?

I just wanted to know if anyone has had these problems and what they might be? where to go? and could the ER determine anything at the hopital? or would they have to send me somewhere else?

came on VERY suddenly. was in a public restroom for over 1/2 hr b4 i could stand to make the 3 min. trip home. hurt so much i immediately felt the need to vomit (but didn’t) – and i’m pretty tough w/pain. never felt anything so bad in my life. took an infant sepository (all i had on hand) and laid down. was able to rest and sleep for over an hour. upon rising, sm. bowel movement. felt better until now. intense pain in stomach and rectal area. hurts to push. hurts to sit. hurts to stand up straight.

i don’t have health insurance and can’t afford to go to the doc’s – especially if I can treat at home. should i be concerned? how can i treat?
i’m 28 and healthy. only meds are Phetek to control seizures (which i’ve been on for over 5 yrs). am still passing a sm bit of gas and had that one sm ("pieces") bm this afternoon. have not vomited, only felt like it b/c of the pain.

I have a pain in the very lower area of my stomach… yesterday it was only in the right side now it has spreaded about around my belly button and as im sitting here toward my back… it does apear that i have bloating or somthing and sometimes i have breakthroughs in my period (or so i think) I do get constipated sometimes well alot… but idk.. My thought is that i have irritable bowel syndrom wich is good because i wont need to go to the doctor however idk and reading up on the matter isnt helping much… i was trying to see if where it was hurting was the lower abdomen or actually in the rectal area.. because the pain started on my very right side right around were my belly button should be lined up at and under… Idk what to do we dont have money for a false alarm soo i really need a second opinion sooo what do you guys think it is… Oh and sometimes i feel a bit nutritious…

While this is an issue I hate to talk about, I am willing to try anything to get help with this. Starting back in November I’ve been having almost constant pain and discomfort in the rectal area. I have no insurance but I was able to get a colonoscopy which revealed polyps and an internal hemorrhoid. I know surgery is an option but I know things won’t be the same if I get that done. Any real tips would be helpful. I have a great sense of humor but this is serious so please spare the sarcasm.

I have had spasms of pain in my lower side for a few months. I have gone to the doctor several times, been misdiagnosed several times and taken more medicines than i can count. I have no idea what is wrong with me so my doctor suggested a colonoscopy. I am 48 so i know the time when i should have one anyways is nearing. I was just wondering is one necessary for the condition im experiencing? They are expensive i have no insurance and i can’t really afford one that’s why i ask.
