Just very recently, i’ve experienced very sharp rectal and abdominal pains. I’ve never engaged in anal sex, and at first didn’t think the pain was from sex at all. Having sex with my husband has trigered the pain again. Only in my rectum. I have had some history of hemorrhoids, but never sought a physician about it. I’m also having a very full kind of bloated feeling in my stomach. My sexual behaviors have not changed at all. I dont know what could be wrong. Any Ideas?
Okay so i’m 19, and ever since i can remember my stools have been what is referred to as "pellet stools" which i thought was normal till i started reading up on it. I’ve heard that pellet stools are a sign of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. About 2 years ago after i went to the bathroom i noticed the water was bloody. I showed my mom and she asked if i had hemorrhoids and i said idk but i noticed after i changed my diet that never happened again. Sometimes i feel bloated and feel like there is a lot of gas in my stomach which read is both a symptom of colon cancer and IBS. Other then that i have no symptoms.
I’m just really scared and after i read up on these things i started think i had colon cancer because i tend to be a hypochondriac. I’m a healtthy weight and have been eating and exercising a lot more the older i get.
My boyfriend and mom have told im just worrying too much but i wanted to know if anyone else had any opinions.
Thank you so much!
Also im pretty OCD about things and am stressed quite often. If this matters lol
I’ve tried suppositories, creams, stool softeners, numbers, and nothing seems to make my pain go away! I tried to go to a free clinic but I was turned away last time because they didn’t have enough doctors and they only have them on Mondays. Afterward, I went to the hospital and they said I had thrombosed hemorrhoids and he gave me some stool softeners and some ointment. It’s not working. He said to follow up with a colon & rectal surgeon if the pain persists, but I am 20 years old and I don’t have health insurance. I don’t know what health insurance I should get and I don’t make much money either. I’m so stressed and confused. I just want some help with my pain but it seems like I can’t get it treated. =( I hate going to use the toilet because it hurts so much.
Plus I think it’s not just hemorrhoids, I think I may also have an anal fissure and possibly something else. What do I do?
2 days ago I had a bowel movement and was shocked to see it was covered in blood. It wasn’t mixed in it was just on the top. When I wiped there was a small amount on the tissue also. Today it happened again but not as much. I do have external hemorrhoids that don’t hurt but they’ve been there for awhile. I wonder if I could have internal hemorrhoids. I have a burning feeling in that area but nothing major. When I had the first bowel movement I had gas and had to go 3 times resulting in the last stool being bloody. I wasn’t constipated so that wasn’t the problem. I have no health insurance and am worried that I need a colonoscopy
Everyones answers have been so comforting to me. Thank you all so much. If you ever post a question I hope that you get comfort from the yahoo answer community also.

Every couple of months, I feel this extremely sharp pain in my rectum and when you push on my lower abdomen, it gets worse. It is unbearable and no position will alleviate it so I just lay on the floor and cry. It happened again yesterday and soon after I had a bowel movement. it was so bad that my mom almost rushed me to the hospital. I’m 17, a girl and have had chronic prolapsed hemorrhoids for 2 years now. My mom thinks it could be IBS but has this every happened to anyone else and if so what is it or what could it be?
I’m not in any kind of pain, so I don’t think it’s hemorrhoids because I read that that is very painful. So no pain, and it’s not just like a little drop of blood when I wipe, it’s quite a bit of blood, and it drips out and turns the bowl almost totally red with blood. I have been pretty week in the past 2-3 weeks ish, I have blamed it on being on bedrest because of my oligohydramnios. I just started the rectal bleeding today, and it’s been twice (both times after pooping).
Is this something I should bring up with my doctor at my appointment on Thursday? I’m in no pain whatsoever, does anybody have any idea what it could be and how it can be treated? I’d rather not say anything about it to my OB if I don’t have to, I’m a pretty private person =/ Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Nothing has changed in my diet and I have never had anal sex, so it can’t be because of that.
The past few times that I’ve gone to the bathroom, it’s been painful. The last time I went to the bathroom, there was blood on the tissue. It was only a little bit and it was a light pink color. Today I felt a small lump right next to the hole. Could this be hemorrhoids? Or something else? What should I do to fix it?
I’m 23 years old, no family history of colon cancer, non smoker.
About a year ago I was very constipated and had trouble passing a larger stool. After, I developed what I though were hemorrhoids or a fissure. I would go to the bathroom and feel a very quick sharp pain followed by a tiny bit of blood on the tissue when I would wipe.
This happened on and off for quite some time but has not happened in the last few months.
About 3 weeks ago I started noticing my stools have been much looser than normal. The amount has not increased. I go once a day and it’s basically really soft and breaks into maybe 5-7 pieces in the water. They are usually soft but not that soft.
I went to the doctor. She did a rectal exam as well as a FOBT test (tested stool for blood). The FOBT was negative and my rectal exam checked out fine.
She said she though it might be a mild virus or IBS and is having me change my diet a little. I did but it hasn’t helped much. Although I’ve been very worried this past week.
I’v been reading so much into this. About people being misdiagnosed, the FOBT being wrong, people getting this cancer young. It’s really got me TERRIFIED.
Do you think this is cancer or not? I have no other symptoms.
I’ve been seeing a gastroenterologist about rectal pain and he suggested doing a flexible sigmoidoscopy without sedation rather than a full colonoscopy because I’m pregnant. He said we can remove any masses we would find during the sigmoidoscopy.
The thing is, he kept reiterating that polyps don’t hurt above the dentate line, internal hemorrhoids don’t hurt above the dentate line yet I have a mass above the detate line that hurts ALOT when I touch it. I know they don’t use anesthetic when they do hemorrhoid banding for internal hemorrhoids, so I’m assuming they wouldn’t use any anesthetic. But whatever it is, it hurts a lot just touching it so I can’t imagine the pain it would cause cutting into it. I’m pregnant so I really don’t want to do general anesthesia.
Does anyone know? Do they numb the area when they remove things from your rectal wall?
I just experienced an episode of rectal bleeding. It was not a lot of blood, but was rather disconcerting.
I am 24 years old…have occasionally experienced hemorrhoids, but nothing recently.
The bleeding did not last long and there is no pain or real discomfort. Still rather concerned. I seem to suffer a malady where when I go from warm to cold environments, my mucus membranes will act up, causing me to vomit.
I just threw up, while sitting on the toilet. Could the pressure from sitting caused the temporary bleeding?
I’m worried about anal cancer.
I’ve been having severe rectal pain, including off and on bleeding when I wipe. The area is very tender but there are no outside lumps. However just slightly in the opening it is red and swollen lumpy. The pain is so severe I can barely walk, shoots down my leg, and lower back.
I have been using Preperation H suppositories for two weeks with no help.
Several years ago I was diagnosed with anal warts and was treated with Aldara.
I have an appointment tomorrow to see my doctor but I’m freeking out I might have anal cancer.
Are my symptoms of severe pain, and lower back pain common with hemorrhoids?
If I do have cancer, how deadly is it?
What questions should I ask my doctor tomorrow, and what tests should I insist on?

I’m 23 years old. I’ve had some IBS type symptoms as well as noticed a decent amount of bright red blood streaking my stool and on the TP on one occasion. I went to my GP who noted I had a small fissure.
I went to a specialist who scheduled me for a colonoscopy. I had to wait 3 weeks to get it done and in that time I didn’t see blood once. When I got the scope it turned out I had a very twisted and looping colon. This caused me so much pain they could only see the rectum/anus/sigmoid/descending colon before having to stop. The noted everything in those areas looked normal. Now hemorrhoids or fissures. They rescheduled me to finish the scope 3 weeks from now.
Yesterday my stool became solid for the first time since the prep 4 days ago. I noticed when I went to the bathroom and very minor scrape time pain in the rectum followed by a bit of bright blood on the TP.
From what I’ve read, bright red blood seems to come from the area that they saw with the scope (the lower colon) is it possible I just have a fissure that healed in the 3 weeks leading up to the scope and re-opened the other day because of my solid stool?
Or do you think bright red blood can actually be coming from my transverse/ascending colon and i have cancer?
I’ve read that blood from there is usually very dark red or black.
I felt a little reassured after the partial scope but now that I saw blood again I’m getting scared..
First off I’m 23 years old. No family history of Colon Cancer.
A year ago I got really constipated. I had a really tough time passing my stool. I finally passed it and immediately after I developed what I thought were hemorrhoids. When I would go to the bathroom I would get a split second sharp pain and when I wiped there would be just a tiny bit of blood on the tissue.
That eventually slowed down and it hasn’t happened in a moth or so. Two weeks ago I developed looser than normal stools. I wasn’t going to the bathroom more or anything, my stools were just very loose. I had no other symptoms. Felt perfectly fine.
I went to the doctor yesterday. I told her all my symptoms. She did a rectal exam as well as tested my stool for blood. She said the rectal exam looked good. No signs of any hemorrhoids or anything. My stool also tested negative for blood.
She said she didn’t suspect I had cancer at all and told me other things that it might be. At this point i’m doing the BRAT diet to see what happens.
Do you think this could still be colon cancer. I have really bad anxiety so I’m naturally worried.
I was due for a colonoscopy 11years ago after the removal of a 2cm polyp 15 years ago. I am 37 and I have two children and I feel so irresponsible. I have had chronic hemorrhoids so haven t worried about anything. I am going to have my colonoscopy but until then, I can t sleep! What are my chances of having a recurrence of polyp?
I know this is kind of a personal question, but I am 25 weeks pregnant today and I am experiencing rectal bleeding but I do not have hemorrhoids or at least I don’t think so.
I am in extreme pain and I am wondering if this is normal.
It is a bright red blood coming from the rectal area(sorry TMI)
Thank you in advance
The rectal bleeding has been going on for several months now. I do have hemorrhoids and have had on and off for 12 years since the birth of my son. Normally they’ll come out and then go back in after a few days and not return for a couple of months. They have STAYED out for months now (at least since October)! The past month and a half to two months I have also had blood clots from the rectum. I have always had strange bowel habits. I only use the restroom once every week or two and that is usually after taking a laxative. I do take fiber supplements (prescription) but nothing works. A few days ago when I used the restroom there was even a sort of bloody slime in the toilet. I am only 32 years old but my dad died from colon cancer at 54. My moms mom died from colon cancer at 65. My dads dad died from colon cancer in his 50′s and his mom has had colon cancer but is cancer free. I called the best gastrologist in our area yesterday and ask for an appt. and they said it would be March before I could be seen. She then asked my symptoms and I told her. Now I am concerned because after hearing my symptoms they worked me in to be seen on Monday. Is this something to be concerned about or is there less worrisome things that it could be? Also, isn’t 32 too young to have colon cancer? Sorry if this is long winded but I am really concerned. I’ve put off going for so many months because I’m scared.
Back ground:
I am a 20 year old female
Gall bladder was removed when I was 17
Have had digestive problems since 15 years old, also have had hemorrhoids (those don’t really bother me as I keep it under control)
I have been diagnosed with IBS, I do not have Chrones, I’ve already been tested.
Going on right now…
Ive been having crazy hours. I was working 70 hours a week, I am down to about 60 hrs a week now. (tryign to pay for a university is not fun….) I have been taking WAYYYY too much caffeine. I got an excellent brand of liver cleanse to try and pee and excrete all of that and it has worked well. I have improved my diet, It is still not great due to the fact I am so busy, but it isn’t bad. I work out about 3 days a week and I am in pretty decent shape.
It was suggested that I take digestive enzymes because I was feeling bloated ALL time time, even after I went to the bathroom. I even took a diaretic because I take birth control thinkign it was water weight. while that helped some, it definately didn’t solve the bloating. The enzymes have been working great. they helped me digest my food much better.
Lately though… my digestion is very off, even with the enzymes. (It is also a good quality enzyme) When having bowel movements, I have noticed a lot of undigested food. I also am not retaining the nutrients from my food well. I have been feeling sluggish. I drink about 70-90 ounces of water a day and still I feel sluggish.
Would anyone happen to have any ideas of what might be causing this. Could it just be my lack of sleep? (i only get about 4-5 hours a night) Could it be the caffeine? Could it be a combination? I just feel so ill sometimes.
Anyways.. thanks for any help or suggestions.
17 year old female.
since november i have been having blood on the toilet paper after a bowel movement. not alot, and its bright red. only once has it been on the stool itself. all other times its just on the paper. Also i have had to strain more than usual and there is some pain with the straining. also the stool usualy comes out in medium sizes balls. the color is normal.
i started taking miralx and the problem got 100 percent better. the stool was in one long piece and it was soft and there was no pain and no blood. and no straining. them once i stopped taking miralx the problem came back. my family has a history of IBS (iratable bowel syndrome) but no history of colon cancer at all.
also i have a very healthy diet, not overweight, a month ago i started drinking 8 glasses of water a day because before that i would drink only about 2. the increases water has not really helped. i exercise fairly regularly too.
there is no stomach pain associated with this problem.
also i generally have always had harder stools.
what could this be? colon cancer? IBS? anal fissures? hemorrhoids?
hemorrhoids as they checked that yesterday in the ER. Her bf just called and she is crying in the background.
Any idea what this is?
They want to do a scope and give her anesthesia of twilight sleep….
A call is into her doctor…obviously….but I wanted to know if anyone else has had similar or the same symptoms and if it was in fact pregnancy related, ie round ligament syndrome vs. something else.
This is a little long but PLEASE bear with me.Please help me if you can.I have already sought medical attention and am waiting for results, although in the meanwhile I am suffering immensely.
I am a 20 yr old female.I have been having moderate back pain when I wake up for about a month. It had become more painful within the last week to the point where I need to just take a few moments to come to myself, then as I walked around it would basically go away.About 3-4 days ago I had some pretty serious abdominal pains and nausea.I went to the ER.Blood samples/urine tests all came back normal. The doctor said I might have had a intolerance to something I ate or possibly polycystic ovaries (I have had trouble with my ovaries before with cysts not bursting when they are supposed to,and got bigger. When they did burst it was INCREDIBLY painful.I went the the ER back then not knowing what was wrong. That was about 4 years ago).
The Dr. ordered a ultrasound. It was 2 days away. She sent me home for the night. In between the time I waited the back pain became VERY INTENSE.It felt like someone was punching/kicking me in the back.Stomach cramps were also present.I think the pain was more intense after everytime I tried to eat.The Nausea was also incredibly strong.I had to force myself to vomit 2 times since then.I have had fatigue and MAYBE 1 or 2 slight headaches.I remembered the day before the visit to the ER I had a bowel movement with alot of bright red blood, and blot clots in there.I forgot to mention this to the ER because I thought it was just my hemorrhoids,as I have had this happen before. Before I had the ultrasound done, that day I had another bowel movement (which I was surprised because I hadn’t really eaten anything within those 2 days because of the nausea/pain.It smelled very bad and there was again, alot of blood.I am certain it was from my rectum.I mentioned this to the person who did the ultrasound but have still gotten no word what the result was. Also the ultrasound was done on my ovaries.I suspect I may have some form of an ulcer because ulcers run all in my family (grand dad, dad, mom etc.).My family has also felt kind of sick with stomach pains, they suggest that maybe I have a bit of a virus with a ulcer acting up.PLEASE HELP ME.I am truly suffering this as the back pain never goes away.I finally filled out a prescription that was given to me for nausea today. It helped ALOT.I ate.But after I ate…the strong pain was back, although I admit that the pains have been fluctuating in severity, and not as strong as when the back pains were first REALLY felt.
There is NO chance I am pregnant and also my last period ended around the 3rd or 4th of Apr.If ANYONE has any idea what is going on,PLEASE help.Thank you in advance and God bless you all.
Also,I am taking Tylenol for pain.
Back in July I had a few cases of rectal bleeding after a bowel movement. Two were days apart and the other occurred a couple of weeks after the first. I did not experience any pain or anything, just a toilet full of bright red blood with large clots that I only discovered after I started wiping. I have regular constipation so I assumed it was hemorrhoids or something. It was a lot of blood each time, enough to fill the toilet. I went to see a colorectal surgeon in August and she looked up inside but didn’t find anything.
It’s been almost two months since my last experience, but today I discovered another toilet full of blood after an easy bowel movement. I wasn’t constipated or anything and it came out relatively easy with not too much hard pushing, even though I hadn’t had a bowel movement in a while. But there was still enough blood in the toilet that it colored the water red, and it was VERY brightly colored, almost pink, with clots. Afterward, now I am feeling some lower pain in my back. However, there was no pain when I passed the bloody stool. Again, there was a LOT of blood in the toilet.
I am starting to really worry about rectal cancer. Can anyone tell me what it might be? I am going to call that surgeon again and schedule a colonoscopy, but in the meantime I am so worried that I feel like crying. What am I going to do if they can’t get me in right away? I don’t have colon cancer in my family, but I am still really really worried. Can anyone help?
I saw it on the internet one day by accident.
It is said to have health advantages in preventing hemorrhoids, constipation, colon polyps, appendicitis, ( to name a few )
How come the health providers never told us about this?
I’m 19 yrs old, and I’ve been having every symptom to colon cancer except for the migraines. I currently have hemorrhoids but before I had that, I was constipated and the pressure in my lower back was intense (still is). I always thought that you only got constipated from not drinking enough water, and all I drink is water so I don’t see why I’d be constipated. I also have a lot of pelvic pains and I’ll sometimes have bloody discharge from my vagina. I went to the hospital once and they let me go saying I didn’t have anything at all, but I insist that I do.
