what are the pros and cons? is it worth it? will it really help my digestive system? will it really reduce belly mass? how high is the risk for certain diseases? what is the best way to do it? is it the same thing they do before a colonoscopy? are there any bad side effects?

A:The caecum is the organ attached to the large intestine with no known function.
B:The colon is the digestive system’s last means of absorption; any food particles not absorbed at this point harden and become waste.
C:The rectum is the longest and largest part of the large intestine.
D:Sweat is your largest organ and is composed of layers of tissue that cover your entire body and protect it from the environment.
I weigh 130 and am 20 I may not be over weight but I’ve had bad eating habits sometimes I don’t eat till 4pm and then i stuff myself I don’t eat much fruits or grains I’ve been drinking water daily Its hard to drink the recommend a amount of glasses and alot of it makes me bloated sometimes I’ll eat in the middle lf the night I try and diet sometimes but they don’t last very long anyways I’m usually home laying on the couch or in bed which prolly doesnt help. Anyway I’ve gotten acid reflux I’m constantly bloated I get a bad taste my bowel movement is irregular sometimes I’m constipated and sometimes I smell I feel like Becouse my digestive system is slow that some lf it goes out through my pores? I want a strict diet that will clean out my digestive system any info is appreciated
I apologize if anyone finds any of this disgusting, I just really need help.
I have severe constipation, I have a bowel movement once every 2 weeks and sometimes its been 3 weeks. No matter how much fiber I eat or how healthy I eat, I still can’t go. My doctor told me to take some senna pills and they didn’t work. He prescribed another laxative and that gave me terrible pain and I only had a bowel movement when I took the pills. I can’t really live my life taking pills everyday just to go to the bathroom, its a bit ridiculous.
My doctor is suggesting for me use Citrate of Magnesium so that I can cleanse out my colon and then see if my the reason why I can’t use the bathroom is because my colon is clogged, or if my digestive system is failing.
For anyone who has used Citrate of Magnesium, how long does it take for it to cleanse your colon and how long does it take for it to start working? Also, what is a disposable fleet enema, and how does that work with cleansing the colon?
Thank you in advance.
I need a safe colon cleanser that I can use on a daily basis because my digestive system is sluggish and needs a lot of help. I have tried Phillips Colon Health and Sanar Colon Cleanse 2002, but they didn’t work for me. Help?
Is this an accurate high school level representation of the digestive system path? If you think it needs editing/adding, feel free to give advice.
1. In the mouth there are two types of digestion; chemical and mechanical. Mechanical digestion is the mouth physically breaking the food down by the use of the tongue and teeth. Chemical digestion is the breaking down of food into smaller components with the use of saliva and the salivary glands that produce salivary amylase. The epiglottis is also used in digestion by covering the trachea while it goes down into the esophagus. Thus, preventing food from “going down the wrong pipe.”
2. As the food travels through the esophagus, the smooth muscles help squeeze the food in a downward, wringing, motion into the stomach.
3. Once inside of the stomach, the food gets saturated with acidic juices, Hydrochloric acid specifically, and mixed with the food. This is another example of chemical digestion. The food is simultaneously being churned by the stomach using smooth muscle, creating a pulp. This is another example of mechanical digestion.
4. Now that the food is a pulp, it is able to go into the small intestine. It is here that nutrients begin absorption into the body. The Duodenum is the first part of the small intestine and it neutralizes the acid. Bile, from the gall bladder, and other enzymes are received to aid in the digestion of fat. Other than bile there is mucus that lines the wall of the small intestine to help the food travel. After the duodenum the food travels to the jejunum. There are villi lining the wall of the jejunum that help to absorb the liquids and nutritional contents of the food. After traveling through the jejunum there is the ileum that also has villi, and further digests the food. The food and liquid is broken down further into its nutrients.
5. While the mass travels into the large intestine the nutrients absorbed by the villi continue onto the liver. In the liver the nutrients are filtered to remove any toxins.
6. Now in the large intestine the left-overs start in the caecum where undigested food, water, vitamins, and minerals travel throughout the colon.
7. The material travels from the ascending colon, to the transverse colon, then the descending colon, and finally the sigmoid colon. The material from the large intestine mixes with mucus and bacteria to form feces. Muscular movements from the colon push it towards the rectum.
8. Finally in the rectum the feces from the food you ate become a bowel movement.
like the ones that clean your colon/digestive system, liver, kidneys, etc.
are there any negative side effects?
umm… im not fat, nor do i need to lose weight.
I don’t want diet pill, I want something to clean my digestive system.

I have been having major stomach issues mainly digestive issues. Constant indigestion, constant bloating, sometimes constipation- and i have been taking Colon Health for about a week now. How long does it take to regulate your digestive system?? Please help, i need some type of relief.
I have also seen 2 doctors and have gotten 2 different blood tests and a breath test to test for stomach infections so I might just have IBS- unless it could be my gall bladder.
Anyways if any of you have these problems and have gotten relief please help!!
Thanks.
i have this problem that i can’t pass stools properly.. even normally or whenever i eat at a party or at a wedding.. i pass very litlle or no stools the next morning.. i’ve tried various foodstufs to improve digestion n also had some tablets that help clean the intestines for a few weeks but all in vain.. when i go to the loo.. i feel like i want to excrete.. but i can’t.. donno why.. as a result my wasteline is increasing.. i have a big tummy even thro rest of my body is not all that fat .. wat do u think should be the reason for this ? is my digestive system not digesting the food i eat ? where does all wat i eat go ? do i need to go in for certain tests to check my digestive system ?? plz advice…
thanx..
So heres a little background… I realized I probably have a problem with Candida (yeast) overgrowth due to antiobiotic use a while back, sinus infections, and a diet full of dairy, meat, and processed foods instead of fruits and vegetables (and low fiber).
Before I started any type of treatment for this, my "stools" were irregular, maybe 2 times in 3 days, and I would often either be constipated or have really loose, smelly diahrrea (sorry).
I first started on the Candida Diet and only ate berries, meat, vegetables, and everything else in extreme moderation (except for some alcohol on the weekends). I then started using Candida Clear by NOW, its a blend of potent anti-fungal herbs which got pretty good reviews. I started taking this to help with the Candida, and thought I would also do a colon cleanse concurrently to make sure there wasnt some kind of blockage making my candida worse. I used Oxy-Powder, which uses ozone (oxygen) to cleanse the digestive system. I think my bowels might really be screwed up though, because when I took the recomended dose (4) I didnt get much results. Once I upped it to 8 pills, I got the effects I had expected but while it said to expect 3 bowel movements a day, I still only got 1 or 2. I also take Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics to help replenish the good baceria. Together, this approach led me to lose a lot of waterweight and my acne got MUCH better over a week or two.
After doing this for a while I decided to use a psyllium (fiber) based colon cleanser to see if it would work better than the oxy-powder. I am still taking Candida-fighting pills but now taking psyllium twice a day. I expected this to increase my bowel movements and maybe even pull out a few "ropes" like you see from Colonix (psyllium is the main ingredient in the system). None of this has happened – since I started taking the psyllium I have felt bloated around my midsection and clogged up. I’ve gone back to only having bowel movements of about 2 in 3 days.
Now my main question is: could the candida be why I am so clogged up? Could it be from eating too much meats? What should I do now? I just want to clear out my gut, and now I’m afraid the psyllium I thought would help is lodged in there and might not come out… what supplements could help?
I take prescribed phentermine from the doctor. my question is .. is it dangerous to mix this diet pill with a colon cleanser? i don’t want to stop taking the diet pills but i would like to try a colon cleanser. a friend told me it really helps with your digestive system! and thats where i have my problems.
I’m not obese, and i do realize losing weight takes time. I’m not in to much of a hurry since i now weigh 150 im 5’6′. ive lost 15 lbs using this diet pill. but want more off.
I am 17 years old, I have been having digestive problem over the past year. I don’t have a bowel movement after 1 pm, and the size of my stool decrease in size after a bowel movement. No pain, No inflammation. Its very difficult for me to have a bowel movement after the morning. Before all this, i had a bowel movement after eating. My digestive system was great , but not now. I consume a lot of fiber all the days. About 25-30 grams of fiber with some organic food in the day. I want to cleanse my colon for then my digestive system can return to normal function. I went to my doctor and she told me that i was ok, my digestive system is not good. But this is not the case. I tried Activia, it didn’t work for me, but i just liked the taste. I do try i can do a flush out with fruits and vegetable because i’ll lose weigh easily because i play soccer. I’m 5,7 about 130-135 pounds. I have been thinking of a natural colon cleanse supplement. But i don’t know with one. Does anybody know of a good colon cleanse? Is it a laxative? Or is there anyway to cleanse my colon? Not a week diet because i tried it and it didn’t try, it only made my weigh drop dramatically.
Thank you for all your help. God be with you.
i don’t want to lose weigh.
I am 19 year old, deaf (so hate seeing doctor as I cant talk to him without interpretor) and have 2 bowel movement a week which I think bad.
I know the reason and this because I eat all refined stuff and never eat fruit or vegetable and always just white bread.
I eating fruit and vegetable now everyday for two weeks and having bowel movement once per day which is improvement.
But how can I totally detox my digestive system and become healthy so I don’t get bowel cancer?
I also eating Yoghurt so I get bacteria in intestine.
Colon cleansing was extremely successful for me in eliminating severe acid reflux, alergies and throat constriction. Do you or have you had any of these?
The first response was "Are you joking"? Well no. Your mouth is at the top of your digestive system, your stomach is in the middle where the acid is produced and if your system is working correctly, everything comes out the bottom, with regularity. So, no its not a joke. Study your anatomy. It works very well to be much healthier.
I would like to wake up one day in my life where the day is about me and not my digestive system.
Place in order the pathway that ingested food follows through the digestive system.
1. Anus
2. Anal Canal
3. Ascending Colon
4. Cardiac Orifice
5. Cecum
6. Descending Colon
7. Duodenum
8. Esophagus
9. Ileocecal Valve
10. Ileum
11. Jejunm
12. Left Colic Flexure
13. Mouth
14. Pharynx
15. Pyloric Sphincter
16. Rectum
17. Right Colic Flexure
18. Sigmoid Colon
19. Stomach
20. Transverse Colon
Any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU!!!
I am now 26 years old and ever since middle school my bowel movements has been once or twice a week and sometimes once every two weeks. I think this is causing me to not be able to lose weight, Im always tired and have no energy. I am also always in a bad mood and don’t know why. I am wondering if my digestive system has something to do with that. If anyone has done this cleanse, does it really work? Any tips? Any side effects? Thanks

There is no doubt that fasting is beneficial, as I’ve tried it myself. But does the body actually "purge" itself of toxins as we have been told? Are they flushed out of tissues and dumped into the bloodstream? Where do they go? What percentages are excreted from the skin? The bowel? The lungs? The sinuses? Is it even measurable? Are there examples of blood chemistry before, during and after a long fast? Is the blood full of stress-related chemicals before the fast? Does the blood become "dirty" with toxins and perhaps microbes/parasites/pathogens during the cleansing stage (when we experience the headaches, chills, fever, nausea, etc)? Does the blood become "clean" again after the fast has ended? Most importantly, where has this all been proven? Everyone has an opinion, but I’m interested in knowing where I can find the FACTS.
Definitions of fasts:
Dry Fasting: No food, no liquid. Very challenging and requires close supervision. Obviously not for extended periods, but a powerful type of fast (supposedly).
Water Fasting: No food, only purified water. Also very challenging. Produces hard and fast cleansing but also causes very intense side effects. For more experienced fasters.
Juice fasting: Pure fresh fruit juices and purified water. Provides nutrients in a pre-digested format, yet allows digestive system to rest and heal. High-energy fast that does not require faster to conserve energy (quite the opposite…you take stairs two at a time!). Side effects are mild.
I’ll trust personal experience over inexperienced "professional opinion" any day. As I said, EVERYONE has an opinion…even doctors. I’m just interested in what has been proven. No conclusions necessary. Just raw data.
k well sometimes when i poo, it doesn’t hurt and it comes out normal.
then sometimes i say my stomachs hurting when i need to poop really badly and it either comes out normal, or soft.
but what really hurts when you need a restroom fast. your stomach or large intestine?
because i always say my stomach hurts and i think i have been saying the wrong thing.
i know the large intestine is that last place for the digestive system then to the rectum.
just stomach or large intestine or something else instead
