I had a colonoscopy recently and everything was normal, but I was wondering what cause this. Thanks.
I am a 30 year old woman. For the past few months I have had the following symptoms:
constipation alternating with diarrhea
fatigue
lower abdominal pain
slight traces of blood on toilet paper after wiping
I have an appt for a consultation with a surgeon on Monday. He will be setting me up for a colonoscopy. I was just wondering what were some of your results and symptoms. My grandma had colon cancer and my dad had colon polyps.
I have to have a colonoscopy next Monday. I have had one before and am really not looking forward to it. The problem is drinking the triLyte crap! Anybody have any ideas about how to get it down quick and painless? Which flavor packs are the best?
I can’t take the pills because I have kidney damage. ![]()
what are the pros and cons? is it worth it? will it really help my digestive system? will it really reduce belly mass? how high is the risk for certain diseases? what is the best way to do it? is it the same thing they do before a colonoscopy? are there any bad side effects?

I have a colleague who’s odour is terrible, I want to tell him, but someone said he might have a colonoscopy bag because the smell sometimes is like wee and poo rather than always B.O. I dont want to embarass him, so how can I tell if he has one or not? He always takes a carrier bag into the loo with him- is this a sign? Please help!
Hi, my name is Cody. I am 19 and will be 20 in January. A few months ago i had this fullness feeling or pain in my upper rectum. Along with the fullness i noticed it was hard to pass stool, unless i just felt like i needed to pass stool. But sometimes i needed it and i find it was hard to pass stool. I went to the doctor and we thought it might be my prostate causing me the pain, that or internal hemmorhoids. So he gave me some anti biotics for the prostate, and cortizone for internal hemmorhoids, whichever was the case. By the second night of medication my symptoms went away, and i found i was able to pass stools normaly. I was fine for atleast 6 weeks after i was done with the medication. Then i found it difficult to pass stool again. So i went back to him told him i was kind of feeling the upper fullness feeling again, and that it was hard to pass stools, and that the day before my stools were thin. So he set me up an appointment to get a colonoscopy soon. But what i forgot to tell him is that my stool is not always thin. That is seldom actully. Most of the time it comes out quite normal, and sometimes its not hard to pass. Ive been worrying myself sick thinking this might be rectal cancer or something. But he told me that would be rare at my age. And i will add that neither my parents or my parents parents had colorectal issues. My blood tests came out normal, and my stool tests were negative. Im just so afraid this might be something serious, it is literaly driving me insane to the point where i dream about it. What could this be? I will say that hemmorhoid suppositories and the cortizone he gave would make that fullness feeling or pain go away..but i dont think i have hemmorhoids anymore. Advice please. Will be very much appriciated.

Additional Details
This is not constipation, and sometimes the stool doesnt go all the way into the rectum..and with some effort it will. The stool is not thin, but not completely round, wether soft or hard. And a few months ago i had what looked like a small blood clot mixed in with diarrhea that was bright red. But it only happened once, never happened since. And havent had diarrhea since.

They did not check for blood in stool. Just for bacteria. And something called wright stain. Which im not sure if its to check for blood or not. But nothing on the paper said check for FOBT..fecal occult blood test.
I have to get a colonoscopy done tom and really nervous!
What do i expect?
Last year I went to walk-in clinic with 3 dortors (assocites) regularly for bleeding in my stool 1st doctor send me to enema test and was negative then the 2nd doctor send me for colonoscopy last July 2007 and I was diagnosed by the spicialist with internal hemorhoid. So the treatment is for hemorhoid until Dec 2007 I feel the pain when I move my bowel with blood on the stool. Went back again to same walk-in- clinic last January for general check up but I was surprise no stool exam. April 2008 3rd doctor checked my rectum.June 2008 I went to emergency bec I can not stand the pain I stayed at the hospital for almost 2 weeks and after so many test I was diagnose with rectal cancer stage 4 coz the tomur spread into my liver and my lymp nodes are swollen. Now I have colostomy surgery, I’m going for chemoteraphy this July. Right now I in pain taking Hyromorphone and pain control patch but the still painful. I can’t lie down and sleep there is mucus coming out of my rectum.
2 days ago I had a bowel movement and was shocked to see it was covered in blood. It wasn’t mixed in it was just on the top. When I wiped there was a small amount on the tissue also. Today it happened again but not as much. I do have external hemorrhoids that don’t hurt but they’ve been there for awhile. I wonder if I could have internal hemorrhoids. I have a burning feeling in that area but nothing major. When I had the first bowel movement I had gas and had to go 3 times resulting in the last stool being bloody. I wasn’t constipated so that wasn’t the problem. I have no health insurance and am worried that I need a colonoscopy
Everyones answers have been so comforting to me. Thank you all so much. If you ever post a question I hope that you get comfort from the yahoo answer community also.
I have to have a colonoscopy in a week. My doctor said to purchase a bowel cleanser from my local drugstore. Can anyone recommend a good colon cleanser that will empty my bowels? What have you taken prior to having a colonoscopy?
I had a colonoscopy today, and started eating again when I got home. After eating dinner I felt like I had to poop and I had diarrhea. Is this normal? Should I keep eating as normal? Should I take anything for it?
I went to a GI because I was having severe abdominal pains/cramps, unusual bowel movements, severe weight loss (about 30-40 lbs) and a lack of energy. I know that colon cancer runs in my family, but I didn’t think he would go there yet. However, he planned for a colonoscopy/EGD for me and he only found one 13mm polyp, but nothing else that was of note (though he did test me for H. Pylori as well). But I was reading about colon cancer and found that diets high in red meat is a risk factor, and I eat a lot of red meat (I am allergic to fish, shellfish, and poultry). I am scared because ALL the women on my mom’s side of the family going back to my grandmother have had colon cancer (my mom, her sister, and my grandmother – the only females on her side) and my mom also had breast cancer (I don’t know if that effects it.) I am only 23, and have been trying to read about how quickly polyps grow. 13mm would be realtively small right? It was easily removed without difficulty (snared, cauterized, etc.) so I don’t think it was that big of an issue. How quickly do polyps grow? One nurse taking care of me told me that she thought I had Juvinille Polysists (or something like that, but I read about JP and it definately doesn’t seem to fit me at all). So any help is really appreciated. I am worried, but feel like I am just worrying because I am not very educated about cancer. Everyone else in my family was diagnosed after their 50s, so they really can’t give much advice. Only thing my mom said was that luckily they removed it now, because it COULD have become cancerous (if it isn’t now) because overtime the risk of polyps turning cancerous is greater.
So thanks guys, please help set my mind to ease. Waiting for the call from the Dr’s office is really killing me.
I got the Fleet Phospha-soda. How long an I going to be in the bathroom ? Colonoscopy next week.
I was sick the other day, and had very little to eat. When a woke up the following day, I went to the bathroom, and was very alarmed by my stool. It was darkish red in color, and did not look "normal". Due to lack of sleep, and that being my first bowel movement since I ate the night before, I freaked out and thought I had rectal bleeding! So my mother rushed me to the E.R. and I got checked out. My blood and urine tests came back normal, as did the rectal exam. The doctor suggested getting a colonoscopy done, to see what could be wrong, if anything. I didn’t remember until a few hours later that I ate beets the night before! I was incredibly sleepy, so this little info slipped my mind when I freaked over the red stool. I really wish I would have remembered before going to the E.R.! It certainly would have saved me a lot of money, and less embarrassment!! ANYWAYS, I had about 5-6 whole beets (egg-shape), no pain, no reason to believe something could be wrong. When I seen the red stool, it was my first bowel movement since eating, and I have not experienced this since. So, is possible that what I seen came from the beets?
I haven’t called to schedule the colonoscopy yet. I’d rather not get that done, unless I see reason to. I only ate beets that day, so I’m really thinking it HAD to be the beets! Thanks for all your responses! =)
I have to have a colonoscopy done Thursday. They said I will have conscious sedation. The paperwork says I will be given a sedative and pain meds through an IV before they start. Anyone know what sedatives & pain medicines they give you? I wonder b/c I have had 16 surgeries and a lot of pain medicines and sedatives have no affect on me. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
Let’s say that a person has a grown son with a late night paper route and the parent goes along every night to help them. Now let’s say that the parent is scheduled for a colonoscopy. Will the parent still be able to go along with the grown kid or will he parent need to stay home and let the grown kid do the route alone?
Will the parent be able to go along with the grown kid that nigh or will the parent need to stay home and recover?
What if the kid really wants the parent to go?
What I the kid refuses to go without the parent?
I had a colonoscopy done 3 months ago. I came out fine, but am just wondering if any form of inflammatory bowel disease can be detected that way. Such as ulcerative colitis (i know i spelled it wrong) or Crohns or any other form of it. And if I had it, could some of it’s effects be detected in my blood or urine some how since I had both of those checked this week?
I am 18 years old. I want to tell me doctor but I feel like she will want to do a million tests. And i don’t want to do a colonoscopy or bring in samples. I just wish I could talk to her about it and she could prescribe me to something. About every 2 weeks for about a year now I have a bout of diarrhea and it is getting to the point where I need to do something about it. Any help?
I had a colonoscopy last year and received 2 separate bills for anesthesiologists. (Both of which were denied by my insurance.) When I called to inquire, I was told that I should have only requested 1 for the procedure. How is someone supposed to know they would automatically get 2? I’m stuck with 2 at 0 a pop!
I was only out for 15-20 minutes. I was told after being billed that one was a nurse and the other was an anesthesiologist. I just don’t understand why it was necessary to be charged for 2 on a very simple procedure. It must be "normal" to have 2 present. (My health insurance didn’t even cover 10% of the roughly ,000 it cost for the procedure.)
I didn’t even want the procedure and had no idea how much cost was involved. I wasn’t aware that I could have requested to have no anesthesia. I didn’t even "NEED" the procedure. It was done to rule out any internal problem causing tailbone pain. I’m just angry because I never would have had it done. The surgeon said it would be half the cost of having it done in a hospital. 00 is HALF of what I could have been charged? Yeah, right.
My mom (who just turned 57 on Wednesday) was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer (spreading to her liver) on Friday. I’m taking her for her colonoscopy tomorrow.
We are ready for a fight and are ready to win. Any advice anyone can give on diet, supplements or anything that helped you win your fight is most appreciated.
PLEASE…helpful/positive comments or advice only. I’ve spent the last 3 days reseraching every website there is, so your personal, helpful experiences are really all I’m looking for.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your time, and wish everyone luck in their future health.

I have no family history of cancers at all except an aunt who died from breast cancer. But, I have had ulcerative colitis for around 5-6 years in the entire colon (and 1 yrbefore that on the left side only). I am going to start my yearly screenings in a week..(full colonoscopy with biopsies) apparently because my risk of cancer increases after living with UC for that long.. should i be worried or are the chances still very slim? I ve been in remission for 5 years now but i read that the period in which the disease is in remission has no connection to the chances of getting cancer.. any thoughts?
IWhy haven’t I had a normal bowel movement since my colonoscopy 24 hours ago. The colonoscopy showed no polyps.
I am going to get my first colonoscopy tomorrow (technically today). I have to be there at 7am. My procedure is at 8 am. I feel as if I didn’t go to the bathroom as much as I should have. I followed the exact instructions as they were given. So I guess my question is how do i know if my colon is cleansed enough for it. I am very nervous about the whole ordeal as it is. I am pooping semi solid turds and tons of liquidy green and it is 2 in the morning! I started drinking the stuff at 930 i took my laxative pills at 4pm like they told me and never had a bowel movement so i waited the 5 hours and started drinking. Any advice?? would help greatly.
