I got her at 6 months old from a reputable breeder. She was the *runt*. She is a year old now and weighs a big 14 pounds.

The first 2 months we had her she was doing great then we had a bout of Pancreatitis.

That cleared up then Giardia. For the last 3 months the Giardia has come and gone. Got her going on Metronidazole 250 mg twice a day for 2 weeks. Did a re-check. The Giardia was worse. Then we did 3 weeks of Panacur. She was starting to have hard stools (which were so big (!) she screamed when she defecated!). This only lasted about a week with diarrhea in between the harder stools.

Now, once again, she is having explosive diarrhea. When I say explosive I am not kidding.

Got another stool sample to my vet. Will know tomorrow if we are dealing with Giardia again.

My vet is thinking about doing biopsy of her colon. He has already done x-rays of her spine which is perfect.

Anyway, I am now putting her on a bland diet of skinless boiled chicken and white rice. If anyone else has any other suggestions I am wide open.

I have also been all over the internet looking at different things this could be and I am coming up with IBD, Colitis and a bunch of other stuff. Very frustrating.

Yes, I have talked to the breeder and she is says there has been no problems with any of her dogs. She was feeding raw and California Naturals. She also raises chickens and sheep. The property and area was very clean and she does the show dog thing. As far as I could surmise she is a reputable breeder.

I feed Evo Chicken and Turkey. Raw is difficult because I have 9 other dogs.

Any suggestions and/or advice is greatly appreciated!
Em: Great idea. I am getting some super answers. I am going to try several things suggested. She had boiled chicken tonight. I have to get the rice but I think I will try the canned pumpkin, yogurt and even the baby food. Her system just needs a good cleaning. I don’t want to have to *fast* her. my vet is trying to stay clear of any kind of envasive procedure which requires anithesia. (sp). I was a nervous wreck when she was spayed. My daughter was in the surgery room and 3 other techs. She was closely monitored.

I was at the ER department recently of a hospital in New Jersey and I was diagnosed with inflammatory colitis and an infection of the right side of the ascending colon and transverse colon being identified as a "wall" that was thickening. I am currently on the second day of two antibiotics, Levaquin and Flagyl, 750 milligrams and 500 milligrams. I was wondering, by the end of my infection and inflammation, does the parasite or bacterial infection come out through defecation (or, excuse my language, "pooping") or is it eliminated from the colon in a different way that the Levaquin and Flagyl team up on chemically? i get a lot of bleeding and a lot of pain in my left side and rectal areas going up to my lower back. my first gi doctor found proctitis low done and six weeks after he did a colonoscopy he did a sigmoidoscopy and told me everything looks better but i told him i still had pain and bleeding after a year of calling to tell him that i had a lot of pain he would blow me off.well last week i just went to see him and he failed to realize that i had colitis higher up in my colon from a ct scan from 6-2008 as well thats why the sigmoid showed it looked like that part was getting better. what is the out come of having colitis in two parts of your colon? i have been on asacol for over a year. thanks

B. Ulcreative colitis is remitting, whereas Crohns disease is constant.
C.Patints with both conditions benefit equally well from surgery.
D. Crohns disease can be found anywhere in the digestive tract whereas ulcraive colitis is generally found in the colon and rectum.

I have diaherra at least a few days out of the week with stomach cramps. When I use the bathroom the stomach cramps are somewhat relived. I ahve had these problems for years. But lately its worse, I had a colonoscopy last month so I don’t have colitis or anything and everything with my colon is normal. I go to a GI spealist this week.
The diaherra happens usually after eating greasy food like McDonalds and sometimes after Mexican food.

What kinds of things are they looking for in a colonoscopy? I am going for one tomorrow and I am scared and I want to know what their looking for. They must have some idea. I am young (31) and am being sent beause I have been diagnosed with Colitis (through a cat scan) but they don’t know any more they say. What exactly are they looking for and do they believe it may be cancer?
