I’m 23 year old young man who just got his yearly check up 2 weeks ago, and was told i was really healthy. A week later I started getting bad abdominal pain, this made me worry when it didn’t subside after bowel movements. I lost 11 pounds in 5 days. I had no blood in my urine, and my blood test come back showing normal levels in white blood cells, and nothing wrong with my liver or kidneys. The doctor treated me for a parasite. Over the past couple days i have gained 2 pounds and my stool has had little black specks in it (almost pepper like) I have read this happens when the parasites are being cleansed from the body. Should the weight come back slowly like a 1/10 of pound here and there or should i re-gain the pounds in a couple days?

Some coughing, sore throat, very little bowel movements that are usually runny, nausea, stomach pain, rectal/anal pain, constipation, a little clogged up, current temperature is 98.6, but has moved around as high as 99.5.
BTW i’ll be 15 in 3 days

Yesterday I went to see my doctor and she examined me and said I had some blood in my rectal area. She said to go to the ER if it gets any worse. It hasn’t gotten worse but its been bleeding for two days and I’m kind of concerned. Its bleeding even when I am not having a bowel movement. So my first question is should I go to the ER?

Also I wanted to share with you my symptoms. I have had alternating constipation and diarrhea for the past month and small bleeding after bowel movements. and like i mentioned above, for the past 2 days it hasn’t stopped bleeding. Could anyone maybe help me out on what this might be? I am also only 18 years old if that makes a difference. I am not in any type of pain.

I went to a GI because I was having severe abdominal pains/cramps, unusual bowel movements, severe weight loss (about 30-40 lbs) and a lack of energy. I know that colon cancer runs in my family, but I didn’t think he would go there yet. However, he planned for a colonoscopy/EGD for me and he only found one 13mm polyp, but nothing else that was of note (though he did test me for H. Pylori as well). But I was reading about colon cancer and found that diets high in red meat is a risk factor, and I eat a lot of red meat (I am allergic to fish, shellfish, and poultry). I am scared because ALL the women on my mom’s side of the family going back to my grandmother have had colon cancer (my mom, her sister, and my grandmother – the only females on her side) and my mom also had breast cancer (I don’t know if that effects it.) I am only 23, and have been trying to read about how quickly polyps grow. 13mm would be realtively small right? It was easily removed without difficulty (snared, cauterized, etc.) so I don’t think it was that big of an issue. How quickly do polyps grow? One nurse taking care of me told me that she thought I had Juvinille Polysists (or something like that, but I read about JP and it definately doesn’t seem to fit me at all). So any help is really appreciated. I am worried, but feel like I am just worrying because I am not very educated about cancer. Everyone else in my family was diagnosed after their 50s, so they really can’t give much advice. Only thing my mom said was that luckily they removed it now, because it COULD have become cancerous (if it isn’t now) because overtime the risk of polyps turning cancerous is greater.

So thanks guys, please help set my mind to ease. Waiting for the call from the Dr’s office is really killing me.

I have been feeling very sluggish lately and have bowel movements once every two days. One of my friends suggested to cleanse my bowels but I am unsure how. How do I cleanse it naturally and keep healthy?

For a while now I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation. I would often alternate from being constipated to having diarrhea. I usually feel relieved when I defecate, whether it be from regular bowel movements or loose bowel movements. I am worried that I may have developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome, because some of the symptoms match these sensations that I’ve been experiencing. All your answers will be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I am in my mid 20′s, 6ft. 1in., 165 lbs. I’m slim as you can tell. I’ve tried excercising in attempts to look better, and have usually given up on it after a few weeks. Several weeks ago I half heartedly started lifting about 5lbs and I forgot how often. Here recently I went up to 15 lbs. try to do an average of 200 lifts a day. Is that safe, is it worth while? I eat pretty much what ever I want to and I don’t get fat, could that be a clue that I might not show muscle improvement very fast either? Just a thought. I take about 500mg of vit C and also a multi vit daily. (also have been on FloNase & Allegra). I’ve sensitive skin and sometimes limit my sweets hoping it will help an acne problem i’ve had on my back for a while, but lately I’ve been getting some sun and have been using some cleansing wipes and seems to improve. If my medical rambling hasn’t ran you off yet, I also tend to have loose bowel movements and maybe a bit worse since lifting weights. So any tips??

I’m trying to do a cleanse, so I’ve been trying to empty myself out, But I’m having trouble.
I ate 3 bowls of all bran cereal and fiber plus (Without milk) And 4 mini apples, I’ve drunken tons of cleansing tea, as well as water. I did this all 4 hours ago, and I’m still not having any bowel movements or anything.
How long will it take before I have to go?

i am planning on doing the master cleanse diet. I understand the whole lemon diet process but what i dont understand are the bowel movements. when are you suppose to take a suppository and when are you suppose to do the salt water flush. or do you do both? any help would be appreciated.

I used to just have normal bowel movements…usually daily. Then ,in the last 4 months……..I push and push and very small bowels(the size of cat poop or less came out.)Now,I can only have a bowel movement with a laxative. But,I haven’t waited more than 3 days to do so

When I was younger I use to hold in my bowel movements. I’m in my 30s now and I can’t seem to get things going again. I have tried almost everything, Health Force cleanses, herbal laxative, eating healthy, probiotics, magnesium, enemas, you name it. Recently I have been mixing homemade yogurt with a T. Psyllium for the last three weeks. I have been getting some movement but I have so much gas I think I’m going to explode! It has gotten to the point where nothing really responds and it seems I have no control over pushing anything out like the colon is numb inside. Also, because of all of this I am experiencing the gas not coming from rectum it comes directly out of pours. 15-20 minutes after I feel gas in my lower left abdomen I can smell a STRONG odor of eggs coming from me for days at a time. When I was somewhat gassy or constipated when I was younger I never had gas come out of my pours like this. Any explanation for this? I had blood tests done recently and everything looked ok except for high carnitine levels and raised cholesterol. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done as well. I am not sure if it is related but I also have severe gout symptoms in my feet and ankles on a weekly basis. The Dr. said to take IB Profen and no high purine foods which I don’t consume. I also get acne/boils that sometimes smell like rotten eggs all over my back and chest. Does anybody have any ideas? I haven’t got much help by going to the doctor. Thanks!
I quit drinking a couple years ago and I definitely know alcohol doesn’t help the problem. lol
I gotta say though, I think I had better bowel movements even when I was drinking.
Yogurt and high fiber seems to be giving me some relief. I don’t recall mentioning my "cure" with using yogurt and fiber. More of a process of conditioning my digestive track. I’m thinking dysbiosis and possible yeast overgrowth causing the problem. That might explain the acne/boils on chest. (yeast?) I think the gas is from introducing fiber to my diet and possibly the bacteria going to work. I have been to a GI dr. and since tests came back negative for major problems he said just keep yourself regular with Myralax, which didn’t work at all. Not much help. I guess what I’m asking is if anyone has had similar symptoms and have had success with treating it. Like I said it seems that my system is not responding to most laxatives. A couple weeks ago I tried Epsom salt and it didn’t respond at all. When I use to use it a year ago it created diarrhea. It almost seems impossible to create diarrhea if I had to. My goal for now is just to get my system going.

Ok, this is kind of embarrassing to ask, but lately my feces have been very small and hard. I’ve completely changed my diet and exercise routine and was wondering if maybe that could be the case. I have cut out a lot of sugars and fats from my diet and have been eating more protein and dairy. I have also been working out everyday and drinking a lot more water. I thought all these changes would actually help make me more "regular" with bowel movements but just the opposite has happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is my body just getting used to my new diet and exercise?

Ok so for the past 4-5 months i have been having abnormal bowel movements, and when i say abnormal i mean this is coming from a guy who could time when a bowel movement was coming and it was always a helthy amonunt and twice a day!…. but i had changed ALOT of habbits from different jobs, stress of moving alot, finacial things, not eating the way i used to. now i have had periods of constipation, very small stools, lately small stools, after small bowel movement, i still feel unsatisfied, i dont eat healthy anymore, but for the past week ive been trying other things like salads and high fiber breakfast, i only eat twice a day, morning and when i get home from work at 11 pm. i know i dont have healthy meals at all usually what ever im grabing out of the fridge i see, for instance, a can of diced pinapples, make a pbj sandwhich with a high fiber bread and a yogurt…. i know i know…and in the mornins is waffles (2 of them) or just oatmeal, or pb sandwhich… i also work in a bakery/deli/prep food area like a publix. so i nibble here and there on things, sweets, onion rings, cookie. Iam 21, 6’2” and 220, over the past 2 months i have gain 10-15 pounds…. i also always feel like something is bloking my rectum, i have examined my self (it sucks! dont do it unless you have too) i didnt "feel" any blockage, very smooth, no pain when i was examining around the rectum area, but why am i feeling this way? i checked colon cancer syptoms and i feel like i dont have much in common with the syptoms but just a few things. i get bloated sometimes some sharp pains just below the center of my rib cage, i also have stopped working out as well, ive tried to put more fluids back into my diet, but 4-5 months man? i hope i dont have anything serious to worrie about, if i do i have no health insurance, yet, iam waiting on my 90 day to get it through my work, and dont even make enough to cover all the bills, if it wasnt for the help of my gf. but shes not thinking anything of my syptoms,, and thats another thing, she eats the same way i do and shes fine!?!!? i dont get it,,, please help!

also before this problems started i was eating at least 3 meals a day, cereal in the morning or oat meal,(this was about a year ago when i was a contractor workin out side every day, now im inside not doing much!!!!!) subway for lunch, and usually a normal dinner that consisted of a meat with vegtables, and a starch…example steak with green beans and mashed potatos… now i have plumitted from that habbit… should i go back to that or no bc im not as active?

why is it affecting me and not my girlfriend though? weve been together for a year and a half, and shes seen the changes in me, but nothing to her? i just dont get it… and god bless her heart for having to put up with me…
lol, what i was saying is that we have had the same diet bc we live together, but this diet of eating unhealthy is affecting me but not her

I’ve had this problem for as long as I can remember, but I’m getting so fed up with it. It’s really starting to take a toll on my life. I constantly feel constipated, to the point that I can’t have any normal bowel movements. I don’t understand because I eat healthy and I exercise, but it doesn’t seem to help. I’ve tried eating more fiber, and it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. And I’ve tried a sort of bowel cleanse (similar to taking laxatives but not as strong). After a while, I get so constipated that I eventually get really bad diarrhea that becomes almost uncontrollable. When I try to go, its really hard, but when I’m not it seems to want to come out automatically.

It’s a really embarrassing problem and I hate it. I’ve been to the doctor and she told me to start eating more fiber (which I did). She said if I didn’t see any improvements to come back and they’d have to look into giving me colonoscopy and possibly surgery. I’m afraid to go to that length. Does anyone have any advice or any idea what’s causing this and how to treat it?

I have been running since 1977. Before each and every race from 5k to marathon, I always have numerous bowel movements up to the time of the race. This has NEVER happened before training runs. It’s been occurring for the last 33 years, so I definately know how to deal with it. Just wanted to know if this happens to other runners as well.

I used to poop whenever I felt like it or whenever I got the "urge" to. Then I did not have a bowel movement for five days(I ate a lot of peanut butter and jelly, cheese. After using Fleet enemas, Miralax, prune juice, and eight cups of water combined with a modified diet, I begin to have bowel movements(usually daily) but only in the afternoon and usually once. The thing is that I have to sit on the toilet and wait. No urge to defecate. I’m urinating frequently too.

Has my colon became inactive? I’m a 16 year old male. I took Miralax for only two days and used two Fleet enemas, a week apart. I have that extremely uncomfortable bloating. I have shortness of breath. I have done a sonogram which only revealed mild hydronephrosis in my left kidney.

This started happening last night when I decided to sleep on my back without a pillow. I heard it was good and better to sleep without a pillow, so I tried it. At first I felt my back relaxing and I was enjoying it until I decided to turn on my right side. That’s when I felt a sharp pain on my left chest. I got up quickly and started breathing in and out slowly. The pain didn’t disappear completely as I kept breathing, but it got better between now and then.

I went back to sleep and the pain faded as I started to fall a sleep. In the morning I thought everything would go back to normal, but I noticed I have a constant pain on the same area. It’s bearable, I’m not bother with it to the point where I can’t move, but I’m just curious what could this be?

Is it from the green tea I bought lately? This tea is suppose to clear away toxins from our bodies. It is used to support the healthy function of the liver, kidneys, lungs, and blood, and to cleanse the body of toxins. It’s called ‘Detox Tea’. Instead of drinking 2 cups daily, I drink 3.

I noticed changes on my bowel movements, I keep going to the bathroom more frequently, which I think the tea is doing a good job cleaning toxins from the body, but what specifically caused this left chest pain.

Thanks in advance!

I am 17 years old. I work out often, don’t eat red meat and my diet consists of mainly fiber. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome ( the condition in which you’re constipated). I get full easily, have stomach cramps, have a hard time with bowel movements, and I always feel tired. Lately, I have been losing weight but I’ve felt bloated too. Just today, I found blood in my stool. Since my family has a history of colon cancer, I’m really scared that I have it too. But I’m so young!! Can someone help me out?!

For the past week, I’ve been having painless bowel movements that accompany a very small amount of bright red blood when I wipe. I don’t have pain nor strain passing the stools, but it just came to concern since it has been happening for the past weekish. What do you think could be wrong? Thanks.

Ok. I used to be constipated as a little kid. I hated it, I used enenemas and nothing would happen. I started eatting alot of junk, and alot more food, and strangely enough I had regular bowel movements, at least daily or every other day. I went on a diet about 5 months ago and have been losing some weight. However I’ve been getting constipated for like the past 3 or 4 months. Like I’d stick my finger up my butt, I could feel the poo, yet there was like some tissue blocking the way or something?

Anyways I took a laxative on Friday and cleaned out my intestines. Tomorow will be the 5th day I haven’t pooped. I ate ALOT on Saturday. What should I do to poop? I drink alot of water and eat a good amount of fiber, as well as exercise.

Thanks!

Or if you have to, what are you most discreet about?

1. Time of the month
2. Anything relating to bowel movements/diarrhea
3. Colon cleansing
4. Gynecologist appointments
5. Waxing body parts and/or tweezing facial hair

I read years ago that men want to know as little as possible about the above. They know it goes on, but details seem to take away from the sexiness of their wife.

What about you? Any you want to add?
