So i have been constipated for about two weeks now, and about a month ago i had a bad case of diarrhea. Throughout these two weeks i have been getting these symptoms: clear mucus out of my rectum, pain in my stomach(usually with bowel movement), and hard small stools. When i started using laxatives my stool started coming not as wide as before. i know i should probably see a doctor for this question, but im thinking it is just constipation, and i should simply just change my diet.

my question is, is it possible i have colon cancer?

I am 9 week pregnant and sorry for tmi but have not had a good bowel movement the past two days. It’s making me feel terrible. I have some natural colon cleanse pill that just help keep you regular but I wasn’t sure if it was okay to take them while pregnant. I did not have this problem with my first child. Nice answers please! (:
My diet is very healthy actually..I eat a lot of fiber enriched foods. Thanks anyways, Marilyn….

I’m currently 27 hours in to a water fast (my doctor is aware of it so please no negative comments on how this is bad for my health), 3 days is perfectly healthy, i took the liberty of discussing it with a health care professional!
I’m not having a bowel movement however, and was wondering if Epsom salt mixed with water or sea salt is better to use as a natural laxative to help speed things along? Also will this upset my stomach as I haven’t eaten solid food in 27 hours? I see that you start each morning with sea salt and water on the master cleanse, which is a fast you also don’t eat on, so i’m thinking it would be fine.
If you have any experience or knowledge about this i would really appreciate it, thanks :)

Ok so i had been constipated for weeks n weeks. LIke id go to br but i still felt like it was more and there was. SO today i got an enema and went to bathroom afterwards, felt good for a while but its like there is still more in my stomach lots more and i took some colon cleanse pills at like 6:30 and its 2:15 now and all i have is gas and havent really had a big bowel movement. Im scared, what should i do? i dont want to end up dying over something like this should i go to hospital tomorrow, if theres not a big one tomorrow?

Ive been having so many problems these past so many months. My body retains everything I put into it, food water When I produce a bowel movement its undigested food, I went to the doctors 2 times, one being a specialist and I was in the emergency room, I never have an appetite anymore nor do I ever feel a full sensation when I do eat, I’m not able to go to the doctors till the 28th I don’t know what to do in the mean time I eat so much fiber and drink a lot of water, exercise everyday its like what am I supposed to do? I think my body is starting to become used to it my stomach used to extend out like so far like I was 6 months pregnant from all the impaction and now I still feel the same impaction sensation but it doesn’t extend as far, This is so difficult I get all these pains in my sides and chest and I can’t breath sometimes I thought about going on that master cleanse thing or maybe just water fasting for a while because im running out of options and I cant go to doc till the 28
And my fiber intake is so high, and with the amount of food/fiber I put in its not amounting to how much I should be going to the bathroom. I remember like last week I consumed two 64 oz. bottles of prune juice in a matter of two days and it did like nothing.. and the miraxlax and arthomicin the doctors prescribe are not working.. and its not mental trust me
This isn’t a stupid question.. I just don’t know what to do I’m running out of answers.. I’ve been doing so much research over the past couple months… ughh this is so stressful.. you guys have no idea..
I have been using enemas.. when I was in the emergency room they did an x-ray on my abdominals and everything was so impacted all the way up.. like all my intestines and colon and everything.. they were amazed by it..

17 year old female.
since november i have been having blood on the toilet paper after a bowel movement. not alot, and its bright red. only once has it been on the stool itself. all other times its just on the paper. Also i have had to strain more than usual and there is some pain with the straining. also the stool usualy comes out in medium sizes balls. the color is normal.

i started taking miralx and the problem got 100 percent better. the stool was in one long piece and it was soft and there was no pain and no blood. and no straining. them once i stopped taking miralx the problem came back. my family has a history of IBS (iratable bowel syndrome) but no history of colon cancer at all.

also i have a very healthy diet, not overweight, a month ago i started drinking 8 glasses of water a day because before that i would drink only about 2. the increases water has not really helped. i exercise fairly regularly too.

there is no stomach pain associated with this problem.
also i generally have always had harder stools.

what could this be? colon cancer? IBS? anal fissures? hemorrhoids?

I have been on Natures Sunshine Enviro-Detox (cleans liver, lungs, kidneys, skin and intestinal tract?) for 5 days. In this time I have had a mild stomach ache, and a pain that feels like it’s in my gallbladder, making my back hurt too, and very itsy-bitsy bowel movement after I drink my coffee, when normally I have a very good movement. I feel if I were to have a large bowel movement, all the hurts and pains would go away. Feels as I am stopped up very badly. Is this the way this stuff works? Is it coming soon? Or am I having a bad reaction to this natural cleanse?
and I also noticed a "smell" from my skin. None of this happened before I started this detox. Is this all normal as to how it works?

So im not really worried about my bowel movements but I cant remembered the last time I used the bathroom. Anyways I wanna know a good way to cleanse before MEPS I go tomorrow and I wanna lose a few pounds without using laxatives. So hints on how to make a bowel movement happen would be nice thank you.

On day 5.. Feel great, but also tired and weak. Lethargic would be a good word.
Also, I have not had a bowel movement in 3 days. I’ve taken laxative tea every night. Yesterday I had little poop droppings. Wasn’t even a full bowel movement. Haha. Okay, just wondering what I should do.

i read about the master cleanse and salt water flush and i don’t think it’s safe. i know that there should be a bowel movement for each meal a day and i am so totally far from that

what are safe remedies, affordable and easy things i could do, i tried fiber in intakes and drinking lots of water, the dark leafy veggies and fruit… everything, it would work one day, then i go days with a a bowel movement and when i did go it would be very painful and difficult, i have been like this ever since i had my daughter going on 3 years ago, i have stopped

please help me thanks

Am I worrying too much about colon cancer?
Over the past 4 months, I’ve had a range of different bowel movements. Some have been fat and roundish; others have been thin and flat. Would I be seeing that range if you had colon cancer.

So is it a problem if I went from not being able to #### for a day, to have something like but not really direria?

I normally #### at once a day…

Is it just my OCD doing this to me?

This happened to me about 2 years ago and has now reoccurred. I’ve never had very regular bowel movements (maybe once a week max?) but lately, I can tell that I am very stopped up. Sunday around noon, I took three laxatives (the max I was able to take). I also drank about 4 oz. of magnesium citrate. Woke up Monday-nothing had happened.

Monday, I drank the rest of the bottle of MC (6 oz.) and walked and cycled 18 miles and ate a lot of fruit. I had one lousy (small) bowel movement that was extremely hard to get out. (My rectum was bleeding for awhile).

I am still in discomfort and nothing is happening. What do I do to cleanse myself?

I eat a lot of fiber and drink alot of water and I do have a bowel movement every day but it’s these thin long strips. If I miss one day of the heavy fiber cereal either i don’t have a bm or it’s a very small one consisting of pellets and clumps. Seems that my colon is full of dried up impacted fecal matter, how do i get rid of it? And to those that don’t believe in the theory of colon cleansing, how exactly do you explain spastic constipation?

please help me. ill give you a list of my symptoms, and you tell me what you think. people with irritable bowels syndrome, people who have had or still have colorectal cancer, or any one who has had any similar symptoms……please help.

Symptoms:

1. on many many occasions, i have had flat stools. it comes and it goes…more often it comes.
2. very rarely, i get some mucus when i wipe.
i get a feeling of incomplete evacuations after having a bowel movement. the feeling of still wanting to go remains for some time after the bowel movement. it subsides with time.
3. i tend to go to the bathroom several times per day.
stool is generally formed (solid), but at times it is lose (not quite diarrhea).
4. a feeling of something in the last part of the large intestine…..rectum. like a presence.
5. sudden rectal pain, and discomfort. the pain is not really intense, but it is discomforting.
6. burning sensation in rectum.
7. constipation. i feel the urge to have a bowel movement, but it is hard to pass any stool.
8. some what more gassy that normal.

most of these symptoms are present at one time. other times, i have one or two of them. also, there has been times, just recently, where i get almost all of them at once.

my biggest fear is colorectal cancer.
my questions to those that have had colorectal cancer and survived, and to those who presently have colorectal cancer are:
1. what were/are your symptoms, and do they match mine?
2. when did you first notice any kind of symptoms, and what were they?
3. how did you manage your life during and after?
4. how were you treated?
did you get a colostomy bag, and how did you deal with it?
5. how is your life now?

im getting a barium enema x-ray on friday. by the way, im a 25 year old hispanic male. am i too young?

give me as much info as you can. i want to be well informed.

During a cleanse called the Master Cleanse http://themastercleanse.org/ there is a process called the salt water flush. On an empty stomach, one drinks 1 quart of water with 2 level teaspoons of unrefined mineral salt.

This process should produce a bowel movement as the saline solution takes the same specific gravity as ones blood, and therefore will not be absorbed.

It seems for some people – who of course may be using too much or too little salt, or the wrong kind of salt (table salt) – the flush does not work. They tend to wonder, what happens to the salt water if not absorbed or flushed. Is it harmful in any way?

I quit smoking 3 months ago, and I have been struggling really bad to the point where i want to cry with constipation. Back when I smoked cigarettes, I used to wake up and have one in the morning on the front porch, by the time i finished that, i would have a bowel movement. It was systematic. Well, I quit smoking back in July. And Since I quit, My body actually feels worse then it did when smoking a pack a day. I have Major constipation, Like, really really bad. I can go a week without having a bowel movement. I know it’s gross. But Every 4 or 5 days, I drink a Big glass of Sea salt Water and It flushes me out. But then for the next day or 2 i feel bad from all the salt. On top of that, Never before did i experience tingling in my legs from the knees down, Now i have that problem frequently since i quit smoking. Also, I exercise daily, I jog 1 mile a day, and do 50 Situps before bed. When I smoked I never exercised. Also, My energy levels have plummeted. Back when I smoked, I used to pick up double shifts at work atleast twice a week for extra money, and when I would get off that double I would hang with my friends for a few hours and have fun. Now, I barely have enough energy to complete a full shift. My Coworkers ask me if " I’m Alright" all the time at work, and say i look sleepy. Is all this because of the constipation? As I said before Im super clogged up, and i know this is gross, but my stools are super hard. Almost painful without the sea salt aid. Should I try doing a Colon Cleanse? I know it cant be from nicotine withdrawl, because I use " The Patch" And i never have the desire to have a cig. Pls help me. I’m a 27 year old guy. So this really scares me. I’m starting to wonder if I have some heart condition, or am about to have a heartattack.

PS- When I smoked, I was also an alcoholic, I used to drink 5 nights a week. I quit drinking also, Thanks!

For the past 4 months of my cycles, I have had extremely heavy periods with excruciating rectal pain. I wear a menstrual cup to catch up all the blood, because tampons and heavy pads don’t work enough anymore. It feels like someone is shoving a knife up my rectum. I can hardly walk and I get shooting pains that make me have to stop quickly and hold onto something. Bowel movements are painful, too. My rectum feels tight and full, almost like I have to have a bowel movement, but I don’t. This pain is ruining my life. I’ve never had it before.

I had a laparoscopy in Feb due to a different problem and it came up clear. I also have a colonoscopy after this first started in Oct. and it also came up clear. I have seen a colorectal surgeon and my gyno many times about this problem, and neither one knows what the heck is wrong with me.

Today, when the pain was really bad, I don’t know what made me think of it, but I felt up inside my rectum just to see if I could feel what was causing the pain. I curled my fingers forward toward my vagina, and the wall of my vagina was hard, swollen, and painful to the touch. I pushed on it, and sure enough, there was the pain and spasms I’d been feeling, the same pain I feel in my rectum. I put my menstrual cup in just to make sure, and yep, it was my vaginal wall. I could feel it through my rectum.

I am now convinced it has something to do with my reproductive organs. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this pain and pressure in my rectum? It seems to definitely be a gynecological problem, but my gyno says it isn’t. Please help. Could it be fibroids or something?

For the past 8 months my bowel movement has not been normal, I go to the bathroom 2 to 3 times a day, There is no blood but I do get discomfort every now and then. I went to my doctor and he thinks that its because I am eating more fiber and fruits than I normally do. I have never seen blood in my stool, and there is no colon cancer in my family. Should I still go to a specailist? Or do you think its just my new diet? What are the signs of colon caner?

So I’ve been constipated for a little over a week and it isn’t getting any better whatsoever. I’ve taken fiber pills daily, but they’re just making me fart a ton during the day and no bowel movement. Laxatives work to make me go but it’ll just work once and then the constipation starts again the next day. I’m considering a colon cleanse but I’m not sure if that’ll just do the same things that the laxatives do?

Pleease help to make my trips to the toilet more regular :)

I am 30, almost 31 years old, male and overweight. I have been having some pain in my right side around my gallbladder area for about 4 weeks. My doctor did blood work which ruled out ulcers, an ultrasound which ruled out gall stones and an x-ray which said that I am constipated. However, I have a bowel movement almost every day or at least every other day. I don’t struggle to go and have an amount which I’d say is regular and healthy. The x-ray shows that there is some stool that is stuck in my colon and they recommended a high fiber diet and a laxative if necessary. I plan to do what the doctor said, but if she is wrong about the constipation could it be colon cancer? On an x-ray can colon cancer ever be mistaken for constipation? I always thought the risk of colon cancer didn’t start until you were in your 50′s or so. Am I too young to get colon cancer?

I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist in a few weeks, but until then I’d like some peace of mind.

I’ve been having slightly norrower than normal crap for the last couple days. Do I have colon cancer?

I want to do a colon cleanse. I have been eating healthy and exercising but my bowel movements haven’t been normal. I have been having a bowel movement every day but it’s just not as much as it used to be. I feel very bloated all the time. Even when I stop eating 3 hours before going to bed I still always wake up feeling full. I think it might also be contributed to extra water weight that I haven’t lost yet. I’m thinking of doing the master cleanse (lemonade diet) for a couple of days. Or maybe a saltwater flush? I have used magnesium citrate before but it didn’t even make me use the restroom. Anyway, any advice you have is greatly appreciated. What do you think I should do? Do you have any homemade colon cleanse recipes? Thanks!

I don’t know if any of you have seen my previous question. So here:

"Okay, I’ve been reading around and have found a few things saying that meat stays into your intestines for a lot longer than other foods because it is so hard to digest. I have become a vegetarian now for a little over 2 months. About the end of Jan. I started having gas, an upset stomach, cramping and diarrhea. I was told since I was eating for things with fiber in them, and a healthier diet my body was just getting rid of the meat in my system, and cleansing my body. I’m starting to wonder about it now though. I sometimes don’t even feel like I’m about to have a bowel movement, and I do anyways. The movements are not that normal either. They are liquid-like, and have a larger odor that usual.

I don’t know what kinds of foods have a lot of fiber in them to begin with, but even so…is this normal? I mean it has been about two and a half weeks of this. It is not getting any better…I don’t quite understand."
Now, I went to my doctor asking about it. She said I may be getting too much fiber, that my body is not used to all the veggies, and what not. However, I’m not eating a lot of veggies so I am not sure what is going on. She said I needed more protein, and I’ve been eating dairy products, veggies dogs/burgers, peanut butter and occassionally some tofu. I’ve now turned to drinking a soy protein powdered shake, that as other essential vitamins in it. It is seeming to help a bit more, but none the less when I have bowel movements they are still running, and not at all the normal type. What else can I do? Someone, I remember said something about iron, and anemia? What would that have to do with this? I do not want to give up my diet choice and go back to meat. If that is my last choice though, I guess I’ll go for fish…but I cannot keep destroying my body like this….
Well, I’ve been incorporating more protein, and it has been helping a bit. Not quite so frequent, and what not, and a bit more solid but as I said before…still not completely normal….

Thanks you guys. I’ll look up the things you’ve suggested so far.

sooo…im have very bad stomach aches and my stomach is ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS growling for no reason. im not hungry or stuffed and i have very balanced meals. i was wondering if i just need to get rid of all the toxins in my body because maybe that might be the problem. i saw this diet on martha stewart and was wondering when i take this cleanse, will it cause growling also? i know bowel movement is to occur but will growling occur?
thanks:)
