The rectal bleeding has been going on for several months now. I do have hemorrhoids and have had on and off for 12 years since the birth of my son. Normally they’ll come out and then go back in after a few days and not return for a couple of months. They have STAYED out for months now (at least since October)! The past month and a half to two months I have also had blood clots from the rectum. I have always had strange bowel habits. I only use the restroom once every week or two and that is usually after taking a laxative. I do take fiber supplements (prescription) but nothing works. A few days ago when I used the restroom there was even a sort of bloody slime in the toilet. I am only 32 years old but my dad died from colon cancer at 54. My moms mom died from colon cancer at 65. My dads dad died from colon cancer in his 50′s and his mom has had colon cancer but is cancer free. I called the best gastrologist in our area yesterday and ask for an appt. and they said it would be March before I could be seen. She then asked my symptoms and I told her. Now I am concerned because after hearing my symptoms they worked me in to be seen on Monday. Is this something to be concerned about or is there less worrisome things that it could be? Also, isn’t 32 too young to have colon cancer? Sorry if this is long winded but I am really concerned. I’ve put off going for so many months because I’m scared.
So not too long ago I started having abdominal pains. It hasn’t been too bad and it has been rather on and off for a couple of days – most recently it’s hardly shown up if at all. In between the duration of when it started I noticed what I thought to be bright red blood on the very end of one stool – which also happens to be the only appearance of the possible blood that I have noticed. I think it looks more narrow but unfortunately I’m not sure considering I don’t usually look to make the comparison. I have no history of either cancer in my family. I’m usually very tired and somewhat un-energetic but unfortunately it’s hard to use that as a symptom because I only get 4-5 hours of sleep and have a poor diet and sometimes don’t have lunch. I have always been underweight and somewhat pale I suppose.
Last time I was at the doctor I was told I have a lot of anxiety and need to stop worrying so much. Do you think it’s the same case this time around or does colon cancer seem fairly likely?
Though I’m well aware that diseases don’t pick ages to affect you, I’m 18.
Regarding as to any other symptoms relating to stools etc. I’m not sure, It has cycled through types 3-6 on the Bristol Stool Chart – I did my research!
I remember change in bowel habits being mentioned but I’m not sure if it was a single change or constantly changing or if it even makes a difference. Though with that being said, from what I recall, it was fine until I noticed the possible blood and started with the "impending doom" feeling. I’m not saying that to rule out anything – but I don’t know if that had an effect.
Thanks for the responses!
I intend on getting checked out by a doctor anyway – whether it’s with the intention of seeing if I have a disease or just to ease my mind.
I’ve been plagued with Rectal bleeding over 1 month. Finally got up the nerve to go see doc, and he scheduled me for colonoscopy. Won’t know result of that until 11/14. Who wants to wait that long? My hair is growing like crazy, and I’ve lost 20lbs since 3/2007.
Are there any other physical symptoms associated with colon cancer? There are no changes in bowel habits. Do I have reason to worry?
Has any one ever had a colon cleanse before, and if so did it help to releave bloating and annoying daily stomach pains? I feel that all the fiber products that’s supposed help with regular bowel habits does not help me at all. I’m also tired of eating grapenuts every other day. I just need some one to tell me about how their expericence was when they got the colon cleanse.
