If the case is severe, and your anus is bleeding and sensitive to pain, can they give you anesthetic or a numbing medicine?

My 10 1/2 yr old female Airedale was diagnosed with a rectal tumor yesterday. It’s the size of a quarter and is very close to her anus. She is constantly licking and seems like she’s trying to poop out the tumor. The vet said that they can operate by doing a rectal pull, where they pull out the tumor through her anus and cut it out that way. There is a risk of permanent incontinence afterwards, but they say that the chances are small. There’s a 50/50 chance of getting all the cancer cells and paired with chemo, there’s a good chance that she’ll fully recover (if there aren’t any complications). The tumor is locally aggressive (meaning that it most likely won’t spread to other organs) but will get bigger and bigger until she won’t be able to poop anymore. The average lifespan of an Airedale is 11-12yrs, so the prognosis if we do surgery and chemo is probably a year (and who knows if she’ll need a second round of chemo treatments). If we just put her on pain meds, prognosis is 4-6 months. I love her so much, but I don’t want to put her through surgery AND chemo (we’re looking at 4 months of chemo) and then go through a period of not-so-healthy times followed by maybe 2 or 3 months of semi-ok health followed by a fast decline of health for a month or two. They want to schedule her for surgery at the end of this week, but today she was out playing with our two other dogs (we have two of her pups from her litters) and we went for a nice walk around the block. I don’t want to take these happy times away from her…. but I also don’t want her to be in pain…. but I also don’t want to cause so much physical stress on her just because I want to have her around for a few extra months longer. What do I do?? The surgeon phoned us today and made it seem that if we don’t do surgery, we’d be doing her a great injustice by giving her 4-6 months of pain leading up to the tragedy of not pooping…… he said if it was his dog, he’d do the surgery in heartbeat (but he also doesn’t have to shell out 00+ for surgery) but our oncologist says that whatever decision we make will be the right one. I just don’t want to be always asking, "what if". Help!!

I have rectal pain, or pain near my anus. It doesn’t hurt very bad it just hurt if i stretch. I am going on vacation today at 4am, and we are going on an airplane. Should i go? I am scared it will cause something bad,i am able to run, walk, and a lot other things.i don’t feel sick and i really want to go. Should i go?

I just did liver flush for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Why? The first time I did… [using Walmut oil, apple juice and lemon to flush] I got a lot of green small ball like thing. Are those GallStones seriously…. also came out a lot of oil from the walnut oil…. I would assume. I was hoping that doing this would help to make my intestine stronger, cleaner. I have some hemmroids just like 1 inch above my anus. It is similar to a small cut like thing.. maybe 1-3 cm or so… It started to get more painful about 6mths ago. I also took some parasite cleansing… The I started eating more healthy like oatmeal, lots of fiber foods, etc. Still the problem is there. I put aloe vera and Preparation H… it help relieve but did not cure… but now less pain after 5 days. What else can I do seriously? Suggestions?

A few more tidbits that will help this scenario. I have recently had a fistula and abcess that was removed from the outer part of my anus. The infection was caused by feces imbedded in my colon and resulted in a very painful surgery and recovery. I rarely make bowel movements *2-3 during a full week normally* and have gone up to 2 weeks without a movement at all. When I do have BM’s, they are usually ribbon-like and cause discomfort, afterwhich I feel like I have not passed all of it and usually go to the bathroom multiple times during that day, although I make no progress after the initial movement. The fissure I am guessing, was caused from the ‘aftermath’ when I make BM’s. When I feel like I have not evacuated completely, I sit, and unintentionally strain, *muscles react as if I were vomiting*. Honestly, my diet is atrosious. Fast food, Hot pockets, Pizza, things of that nature are my normal meals. Hope this helps.

For the past three months ive been having rectal bleeding but not so bad..

this week tho.. has been so terrible! and now im having pain!
this week i woke up with pain and shrugged it off cause i thought it was menstural..

I had menstural too. but after putting in a tampon i noiticed Blood was pouring from my anus. Not just my menstural.
It was so much blood i passed out.

My menstural stopped.. but im still bleeding.. on and offf from my anus. I feel soo uncomfortable in my stomach.. Sore feeling.. in my abdomen near my belly button left and right.
I leak blood Even when i have no need to use the washroom,,

Now i have extream back pain on my right side hip bone? or the center bone lower back but on the right side. its a burning pain.

Could this be cancer or hemmroids?

Am 22 years old.
My surgeon told me that i don’t have piles nor external nor internal & no fissures& on rectal examination he found bleeding inflamed rectal muscosa.
.but in a stool analysis i had amebiasis..but i recieved ttt (50 days after start of symptoms)for 10 days(500 mg metronidazole t.i.d)&there was an improvement after temination of therapy..
but conditions returened again
& now stool analysis show pus although being negative for any parasitic infection & culture is negative for bacillary dysentry..
provided that i have no fever,no pain ,no abdominal cramps..maximum defacation times per day was 8(which happened only 5 times during the 2 months but including the tenesmus),intemittent minimal bleeding obseved only on sweeping my anus(sorry)by the end of defecation,no anemia (except microcytosis).can it be ulcerative colitis? or can it be a sequele of late treatment of amebiasis..(please don’t answer colonoscopy coz i know that answer) thanx

If I insert my finger into my anus inside it touches something spongey. Is this normal?

I’m not in pain, but it doesn’t feel normal. I’ve never really inserted my finger in my hole before, so I’m not sure how long it’s been like this.

Sometimes it really hurts when the doctor sticks her finger up my vagina. Once the doctor hand to put her whole hand in my anus even. It was not the best. Any advice?

On my past 3 periods i have had extreme rectal pain ( i have always had terrible cramps including today at school ). At school today around 11:30 am i started my period, i had excruciating pain to the point at around 12:45 i had to cry i held in the main ( im not sexually active ) but i guess it was kinda like a contraction in a way.. i mean every 35-36 of having terrible cramps i had a 2-3 a couple of times 3-7 minute break of the cramps. I went to the bathroom twice once at 1:00 and had to poop so badly but it took 10 minutes for me to be able to get up. I felt nauseous al day i took 2 Advil’s and the pain went away at around 2:12 and it came on again around 9:00 pm. I noticed when i got home that i had blood in my stool maybe a tea spoon full in all but i couldn’t tell if it was period blood or rectal but currently i cant move my bottom half side and my anus hurts and im holing in the pain. What is going on and what can i do ?

My 10 month old Persian Exotic has a touch of blood on his anus or sometimes slight bloody mucous in his litter box after a bowel movement. He has his shots, is very active, very healthy ( definitely NOT underweight), eats normal, drinks water normal.

He does not have loose bowels or hard ( constipated). No straining involved.
Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause?

I’ve had rectal pain (basically, my anus hurts or feels tight a lot of the time, sometimes worse when making a bowel movement) for the past four years. A few times I’ve had sharp pain that seems like it’s definitely an anal fissure, but a lot of times it just feels like I can’t unclench that muscle. I always thought I had an overly tight anal sphincter, but now I’ve noticed a lump and wonder if it might be hemorrhoids instead. I thought those only happened to older folks, though — and I’m 18. I’m super shy about talking to my doctor (there are unrelated reasons for that) and wonder if any of you could give me insight so I could maybe try a home remedy first. I’m anatomically female, if it matters, which I suspect it doesn’t.

It has happen twice now, in a period of a year, where I get this constant pain in my rectal region, not exactly in the anus, it starts gradually and then it will increase to a severe pain that will last for about 3 or 4 days, I did notice mucus discharge and some blood, after that it will subside and it will go away on its own. I have not been to the doctor, but I’ve been told that it could be a problem with anal sinuses. What could it be? concerned.

I have been awakened at night by severe rectal pain (lasting about 5 painful minutes) so I looked it up and found that it’s called Proctalgia fugax, a severe, episodic rectal pain that usually occurs at night, a muscle cramp in the wrong place at the wrong time, rectal spasms or just plain pain in the anus…
It could last a few seconds to a few minutes so most people do not even report it to their doctors.

Warm baths and massages seem to relieve it but I’d like to know if any one of you people found other true and tried methods to relieve that pain in the butt fast.
I do not have IBS, I’m very regular and eat lots of fiber and have no problem my my digestive system.

Hi, I am eleven years old and have a pretty good health history and I don’t get sick very often. I didn’t pass bowel movements for a week or so, and I told my mom. A day later I finally went just a tiny bit. It’s been three days since I’ve passed a bowel. Finally, just now, I went. This is gross, but I couldn’t go so I stuck toilet paper on my finger and put it up my anus. I took it out and there was a big amount of blood. I repeated the process and showed my mom. Then, I went a couple pebbles of bowel movement, and there was blood. She said she wasn’t too concerned. I kept trying to go and it was painful. I don’t think I got all my bowel out, but now my anus feels really swollen and it really hurts. It almost feels like it’s "tight." There was also some dark mucus in my bowel. I didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary. I looked at my butt on the inside in the mirror and there are three giant red swollen lumps inside. My mom said they are hemorrhoids and was puzzled because she never heard of a child getting one. She bought me some cream but i’m still on the toilet for hours and hours in bouts of pain. I have anxiety and don’t feel comfortable with a doctor looking in there. I got pepto bismol, stool softener medicine, cream, and an enema. I used the enema and it really stung. All that came out was the enema, and it looked like my butt was urinating. It also burned. I just went and a gallon of mucus came out. What should I do? Could it be something other then a hemorrhoid? What could it be?

In my Science Text book from High School this is the way it is spelt Oesophagus!!!!

My son, 2 years old, has been complaining, for about two weeks now, of rectal pain. When asked what it hurts like he says, "it itches like I have to go poopy." It bothers him at all times of the day, but not all day long necessarily.

About a week ago I thought I noticed some blood on his stool, but wasn’t positive, so decided to keep watching. On Saturday, he definitely had blood on his stools and it was on the toilet paper when we wiped as well. I took him to urgent care and the doctor looked at his anus and felt inside. He didn’t feel anything or have any bleeding at the time. He decided to treat him for a yeast infection of the anus. Currently we are applying a mix of anti-itch hydrocortizone cream and Lotrimin (Athlete’s foot cream) three times a day for 5 days.

As of this morning, my son was still having pain and itching. He had a BM last night with no improvement from the day before and complained of pain while passing it. He has also, a few times, grabbed his abdomen and said,
"my body hurts." This has happened just randomly and while urinating. He has never had problems with constipation or abnormally large or hard stools. He has had a few unexplained, long lasting bouts of diarrhea in the past.

Any ideas?? We are supposed to make an appointment to go back if he is not feeling better by Wednesday. I am having a hard time with this diagnosis for some reason…
His stools are a normal texture/color. (not hard, black, tarry…) The blood is typically on the stool at the end of the movement. It is not drops of blood in the toilet, but on the stool. There also has been blood on the paper when we wipe that is bright red in color.
We are going to the doctor this afternoon after another bloody stool this morning. Thanks for all the good answers.

I have a friend who has some possible symptoms of colon cancer. He is 22, and says when he goes to the bathroom, he bleeds a lot from his anus. He went to the doctor and they said it looked to be an internal hemorrhoid. His symptoms come and go, so my question is, if it is colon cancer, would the symptoms constantly be present? or do they come and go at different times?
Also, he said it gets worse when he eats spicy foods, and drinks alcohol.

I am a 59 yp male that has always been in perfect health. Suddenly i seem to be getting wart like things around my anus. Have not been to a doctor yet but planning to soon just curious

I feel really really bad pain in my rectal area and it radiates till anus during menstrual period. It has been there since 8 years. I dont know what to do with this because 5 years back I fainted because of that intense pain. It is not continuous. It occurs 5-8 times in a day, more during 1st 3days and diminishes on 4th day of menses. I am scared if it is related to some rectal or colonic pathology?
