I’m 20 5’9 198lb
for about a month i been getting some weird symptoms

I’m never hungry and eat a little bit and I’m full for the whole day.
losing weight fast.
burping for 2 weeks and feel like regurgitating sometimes.
abdomen cramps.
Diarrhea but make my hemorrhoid burn after going.

After a textbook pregnancy and vaginal delivery 11 weeks ago, my wife has had a lot of pain in various places. Since, most of the pain has gone away except three areas of her abdomen which have instead increased in pain. One area is on her right side in sort of a "C" shape and is constant and sharp. The opposite side has a similar pain that comes and goes. Lastly, she has soreness all across the top of her bladder. A crude diagram is shown here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6830281/WhereItHurts.jpg

Three weeks ago her OB prescribed her Hydrocodone 5/500mg and told her the pain would subside as the others did. Last Friday she was scheduled for a rectal CT scan since the pain still only increased and the Hydrocodone was having no apparent effect. Tuesday when she called for the results, her doctor informed her that nothing abnormal was found but to check in to the hospital so they can better address her pain.

The doctor initially said her blood test showed increased levels of sediment which could indicate infection so he put her on an IV antibiotic of Doxycycline and a Dilaudid PCA for the pain. That day she was fairly pain free and was able to sleep. The plan was to wait out the antibiotics and see if the pain subsided. Wednesday she was taken off the PCA and given Hydrocodone again. Her pain returned with full force and after many hours of frustration and begging for pain relief her doctor decided to put her back on the PCA, but with Morphine, and scheduled an exploratory laparoscopic surgery for Thursday but first wanted a second opinion from a colleague. That doctor examined her results and gently pushed on her abdomen before deciding that she didn’t want to subject my wife to any surgery just yet.

Since the regular doctor will be unavailable until Monday he had the OB doctor on call assess her. She said that both she and our regular doctor had discussed the case extensively and that clinically my wife is stable. They believe that the pain is being caused by a muscular problem in her still recovering abdomen. So, she was taken back off the PCA and instead given Hydrocodone 7.5/750mg and an abdominal binder pending consultation with a general surgeon, which we were told, would not be available until Monday.

The oral pain medicine still had no apparent effect and since she was told she would not be provided any stronger medication she decided she would rather suffer at home and schedule a general surgeon consultation ourselves. She was released last night with the Hydrocodone 7.5/750mg, Methocarbamol 500mg, and Metronidazole 500mg.

We live in a small town in Texas without many other options at this point in time. I will be scheduling the consultation first thing Monday morning and have told her we will travel to a larger city if he is unable to remedy the situation. Her doctor has 45+ years of experience and will be retiring in two weeks so this adds to the desperation.

If she does in fact have a muscular problem that will go away in time I fear the meantime. She has trouble sleeping and when she isn’t all she can do is cry, moan, and writhe on the bed. She’s afraid if the pain gets worse and we have to go to the ER they will still be unable to handle her pain. I am looking for any route to pursue in an effort to relieve my wife’s pain. Any advice will be much appreciated.

When I was younger I use to hold in my bowel movements. I’m in my 30s now and I can’t seem to get things going again. I have tried almost everything, Health Force cleanses, herbal laxative, eating healthy, probiotics, magnesium, enemas, you name it. Recently I have been mixing homemade yogurt with a T. Psyllium for the last three weeks. I have been getting some movement but I have so much gas I think I’m going to explode! It has gotten to the point where nothing really responds and it seems I have no control over pushing anything out like the colon is numb inside. Also, because of all of this I am experiencing the gas not coming from rectum it comes directly out of pours. 15-20 minutes after I feel gas in my lower left abdomen I can smell a STRONG odor of eggs coming from me for days at a time. When I was somewhat gassy or constipated when I was younger I never had gas come out of my pours like this. Any explanation for this? I had blood tests done recently and everything looked ok except for high carnitine levels and raised cholesterol. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done as well. I am not sure if it is related but I also have severe gout symptoms in my feet and ankles on a weekly basis. The Dr. said to take IB Profen and no high purine foods which I don’t consume. I also get acne/boils that sometimes smell like rotten eggs all over my back and chest. Does anybody have any ideas? I haven’t got much help by going to the doctor. Thanks!
I quit drinking a couple years ago and I definitely know alcohol doesn’t help the problem. lol
I gotta say though, I think I had better bowel movements even when I was drinking.
Yogurt and high fiber seems to be giving me some relief. I don’t recall mentioning my "cure" with using yogurt and fiber. More of a process of conditioning my digestive track. I’m thinking dysbiosis and possible yeast overgrowth causing the problem. That might explain the acne/boils on chest. (yeast?) I think the gas is from introducing fiber to my diet and possibly the bacteria going to work. I have been to a GI dr. and since tests came back negative for major problems he said just keep yourself regular with Myralax, which didn’t work at all. Not much help. I guess what I’m asking is if anyone has had similar symptoms and have had success with treating it. Like I said it seems that my system is not responding to most laxatives. A couple weeks ago I tried Epsom salt and it didn’t respond at all. When I use to use it a year ago it created diarrhea. It almost seems impossible to create diarrhea if I had to. My goal for now is just to get my system going.

For quite a long time, I have had this persistent abdominal pain in the upper and lower quadrants of my left abdomen. Sometimes the pain radiates into my back, the entire left side. Sometimes it goes down to my groin. I have had an abdominal ultrasound which came back normal except for some extra blood in my cul de sac. My doctor doesn’t think that there’s anything seriously wrong with me because my blood came back good and I’ve done a fecal occult test and a digital rectal exam which came back normal. I am scheduled to do an IVP early next year. I don’t think my problem is reproductive as my organs were normal on the ultrasound and the pain is always there, not just during my period. Sometimes its really bad but for the most part it is a dull, throbbing ache. I have no idea what it is and it is worrying me… anyone have any insights

My mother had Stage 3 Uterine Cancer, which she had a total hysterectomy and all organs were removed in October, and she finished her last chemo on April 29th, but just this week was back in hospital for partial lower bowel obstruction and fluid build up in abdomen, especially around liver.

The good thing is they drained the fluid and the obstruction was not large, but I was wondering if all this could be a way her body is trying to rid itself of toxins from radiation and chemo. She is feeling weak, so I was wondering about any good regimens for helping her to cleanse her system and detox to get stronger and get rid of the toxins?

I already found out about Milk Thistle and Dandelion for the liver, so if any other remedies are known please share!!

Thanks so much.

Also at times there is some itching at certain areas that seem to be under the skin.
My abdominal and pelvic ultrasound showed up normal.

I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday and had horrible pain ever since, but I woke up this morning and noticed that I now have bruises on my abdomen. What the heck?! Is this normal??

I am 22 and have been having a whole slew of problems.

1. It started with prostatitis. Had it several times, took all of the antibiotics, it got better for a while. I always felt like it had some kind of link with my bowel function and corresponded with constipation. This might make sense because bacteria from the colon, I have heard, can get into the prostate.
2. I have had constipation and sometimes diahria for a year or so.
3. I was diagnosed as having a peptic ulcer. I have pain to the left of my navel, on one side of my chest, and in the abdomen. I have had basd heartburn in the past, whcih got better with Prilosec.
4. The Gastro doctor was not helping me much so I went to a holistic doctor my mom swears by. She said I had a parasite and gave me all kinds of supplements (parachord, lymph tone, quantum thyroid, liver protect, core artemesia) and told me to follow the Candida diet.
5. It has also been suggested I may have a wheat allergy. I did not follow my diet for a weekend and came back with constipation and the prostate issues bothering me more than they have in a long time.

Can anyone help please? Nothing has really worked for me, and I feel like all these issues migth be related. Thanks!

My dad whom is 50 has been experiencing some rectal bleeding. He says every time he goes to remove his feces, a handfull of blood comes out with it. He would go to the hospital, but we have no insurance at all to cover the costs and we are low-middle class. How bad is it? What can we do? He says he is dizzy, and he says it’s probably blood loss. He has for a while experienced pain near the abdomen, if that is any help. HELP ME!

It all started out about the first week in December when I became very gassy and would fart way more than usual. About 2 days later I would have to go the bathroom 10 times a day with some bouts of diarrhea. For the next 10 days I would kept going to the bathroom upwards of 20-25 times a day with some diarrhea and blood. I went to the doctor and had an endoscopy, which showed some moderate inflammation in my transverse, and descending colon but everything else was normal. My blood test showed high monocytes and eosinophils but this could be due to my allergy with cats (my family has 2). My doctor then thought it was ulcer colitis but then changed his mind when he found a small obstruction in my intestine. As a result he put me on Entocort for Crohn’s Disease. However, it had no affect on me what so ever. Ever since December, I still go to the bathroom and poop out straight bright red blood every morning (NOT diarrhea) even though I’m on Prednisone, which now has my doctor thinking it could be an infection. Also on Prednisone, I’ve been having around 12-14 inch poops once a day.
My symptoms are just some bouts of diarrhea and constipation (going to the bathroom 20 times a day when not on Prednisone) with white oily mucus and straight blood in my stool. I’m always hungry and never get sick when I eat (This includes dairy). I don’t have any other symptoms of Crohn’s such as pain in my lower right part of my abdomen, rashes, joint pain, loss of appetite and weight, eye inflammation…. Basically, all of my symptoms are just intestinal so does this sound like Crohn’s still?
Also my stools have a very foul odor to them.
And I really don’t fart anymore since the first week in December.

For the past three months ive been having rectal bleeding but not so bad..

this week tho.. has been so terrible! and now im having pain!
this week i woke up with pain and shrugged it off cause i thought it was menstural..

I had menstural too. but after putting in a tampon i noiticed Blood was pouring from my anus. Not just my menstural.
It was so much blood i passed out.

My menstural stopped.. but im still bleeding.. on and offf from my anus. I feel soo uncomfortable in my stomach.. Sore feeling.. in my abdomen near my belly button left and right.
I leak blood Even when i have no need to use the washroom,,

Now i have extream back pain on my right side hip bone? or the center bone lower back but on the right side. its a burning pain.

Could this be cancer or hemmroids?
im only 17 and a girl :S

since then, after the radiation, I have had 2 major surgerys to my lower body, abdomen, and rectal area. this pain in my legs, jumps back and forth, from one leg to the next, and almost always, ends up solely, in the left leg, and around the knee cap, above the knee, down in the calf of my leg, and the upper thigh. This pain wakes me at night, and unless I stay on pain meds, I cannot get thru a day to good. The doctors, do not know what is causing it, I have had scans, MRI, xrays, ect. Now , they are telling me, I must have Chronic Nerve damage, possible coming from the pevic area. They want to send me to a pain managemant clinc. I am not sure what a pain management clinic can do? This has been going on now for 2 years. anyone have any input, that may help me? Thanks in advance…… Munchkin

I’ve been having strong B.H contractions and period like pains in my abdomen and achy back.
Its painful but mild.
Now, whenever this happens, my vaginal and rectal areas hurt.
The rectal area hurts like I have to go to the bathroom.
Vaginal area hurts like its sore.

I leaked "something" this morning and my doctor tested it. She says it wasn’t amnionic fluid or urine. She thinks I’m in early labor and I’m 2cm dilated.
She thinks the clear/pale pink fluid could be my mucus plug etc.

Either way, I am at home right now and I’m experiencing these pains.

Have you ever had rectal and vaginal pain during these early labor contractions?

Small bowel inflammation, infection?
For a week and a half, I’ve been having really bad heartburn which turned into extreme pain across my midsection WITH heartburn. I started taking protonix prescribed by my doctor when it was at first heartburn, but when the pain became severe in my abdomen, I had an upper GI test done which revealed my small intestines were inflamed, then was hospitalized (by a crappy hospital that wanted me to have a ct scan, made me drink the contrast then three hours later realized the barium I had from the upper GI in my system so a ct scan wouldn’t be possible). I have to wait until Monday to have a ct scan but when I got home from the hospital today, I had bright yellow diarrhea … could that be from either of the things I drank, or might it be small bowel bacterial overgrowth (of which yellow diarrhea is a symptom) ? The doctor only said my stool would be white-ish from the barium, nothing about yellow. Also, now I’m pretty painfully constipated, which is probably from the barium.

I’m nervous about getting another IV and drinking more of the nasty contrast on Monday, especially when it might be an infection, which a ct scan wouldn’t find. But what does this sound like?
Do you know how a bacterial infection is tested? Everybody kept ignoring me when I asked.

My Grandma had a large cancer removed from her ascending colon about a year ago. Several lymph nodes contained cancer also. She had no evidence that it had spread anywhere else – liver , lungs and bones were scanned before the surgery. The oncologist felt that she was too medically fragile to get chemotherapy because she had 2 strokes right after the surgery. Now the cancer has come back in her abdomen. It is in her liver, but also spread all around the abdomen and is producing a lot of fluid. Is there any hope that she can be cured? If not, how long does she have to live? She is 91.

40 weeks pregnant and seen the doctor today. Only 1 cm, and had bloody show this am and lots of mucus since then with occasional streaks of brown and red blood. Doctor sent me home after hospital visit. Having lots of pressure periodically tonight and some occasional back back pain and the tightening of abdomen. Just called doctor’s answering service 5 minutes ago. Just wondering if any of you experienced that when you were truly in labor. Did not want to call my doctor but just want to make sure

This question may be seem basic but I just wished to double check. In the abdomen, retroperitoneal structures (namely: most of duodenum except for D1; pancreas, ascending, descending & sigmoid colon) are behind not just visceral peritoneum but also stuck down hard against posterior abdominal wall by the parietal layer of peritoneum. Retroperitoneal structures are behind both visceral & parietal layers of peritoneum. Am I right on this?

Thanks

I have had trouble with bleeding off and on for the last six years. It seems to get worse with stress. Lately, it feels like I need to "go" constantly and sometimes nothing but blood comes out. I’ve been ignoring it hoping it would go away–also thinking it was probably something like hemroids so not anything to get worked up over. Starting to have nagging cramping in my abdomen and pain in my lower back as well.

By day I’m a human nurse & by night I’m a cat rescue lady. Something happened over night that I’d like to share to see if anyone has ever seen this. When I rescue a momma cat and she is far along enough that an abortion will result in live births – I never proceed with the spay. I have the momma checked out by my vet (who is a god send by the way) & help mom to bring her young into the world. At a later date I have mom spayed & don’t adopt her kittens until they spayed/neutered and fully vetted. I’ve seen it all in my experience with rescues and births of kittens. Some are still born, some die shortly after birth – just recently I lost two kittens from two separate litters from what I think after research is surely feline distemper & promptly consulted a kitten expert for treatment as my vet doesn’t do much for kittens until a certain age. Now they are all quarantined and responding to treatment. I’ve had kittens born with cleft palate that die within a few days of birth – premature kittens that can’t survive beyond a day or two because of underdeveloped lungs…
Around 4 this morning my latest abandoned mom gave birth first to a still born, then three lively screamers arrived – We got her out of her hiding place and cleaned the screamers up and got them all nested in a nice little kitty bed and warmed them while the births continued – another lively screamer came & then the shock of all shocks – she gave birth to her final kitten – A live screaming little guy whom she wasn’t to in a hurry about separating him from his cord – I know how to help when mom gets tired so I got my supplies and thought his cord looked weird? Upon closer inspection – just about to tie off the cord and cut it to my disbelievment his intestines were protruding from his abdomen and attached to the cord. I was able to seperate the cord from mom and remove the placenta. I thought this kitten would die momentarily as he bled a bit so I took a warm moist baby wipe and bundled his insides close to him and wrapped him around his mid line and secured it so the intestines weren’t flopping around. This little guy immediately began the lively wailing newborn kittens do and headed straight for the boob? I was shocked – so I decided not to remove him from the litter and just let nature take it’s course. Okay so at 10am this little guy is still moving around & nursing & I’m baffled – called my Vet. He called a specialist at the emergency clinic and people guess what – this kitten has undergone a procedure where the intestines were safely placed back into his abdomen & our problem now is infection – and of course whether or not the intestines will function – my keeping them moist saved them from becoming necrotic. WOW!! It is now 1pm & he is still alive at the 24 hour ER with a kitten specialist. I’m so amazed by what a Vet can do to save a life – I just had to share. I know his chances for survival aren’t that great – but we had to try & I couldn’t leave him just flopping around with his litter till infection set in and killed him. I know .. I’m INSANE when it comes to my love for cats – especially when there are so many unwanted little things out there. Just thought I’d share this experience and see if anyone else ever had this happen and what kind of outcome you experienced. Hugs.
Hi Everyone… Sadly the little guy passed away later Saturday afternoon. Just to much for a tiny kitten & if you don’t think people have hearts… The Vet didn’t charge me a penny for bringing him to the ER (it usually costs an arm and a leg).
ocimom – I guess you didn’t read my entire post. I do have all the cats I rescue spayed. The only time I won’t do it while she is pregnant is if the abortion may result in live births. I’m in the business of saving lives – not taking them. As far as the kitten I allowed the ER vet to work on – if the ER vet thought he should have been euthanized on the spot I would have allowed it as to make him suffer.

sometimes my 9 yr old daughter experience a colic like pain in her abdomen. Rectal suppositories gives her relief because upon bowelling, gases come out and the pain subsides. just want to know if administering suppositories like twice a month for this symptoms would be detrimental or not

My wife went in for a D&C on 4/15/09 due to polyps. The doctor perforated her uterus. Last week, she developed diverticulitis and there was a CT scan that showed free air in the abdomen. She was admitted into the hospital and then rushed into emergency surgery due to a complete blockage in her small intestine. Can a perforated uterus cause diverticulitis if the bowel was affected? In addition, can this also result in a blocked small intestine?

Ok first I’ll tell you my problem then my background issues with this…

So my husband and I haven’t had sex for 3 months until two nights ago. We had sex the first night, and everything went great. Not too much discomfort. The second night we had sex, went good at first, but started getting some pain during. After it was over, I had pain in my rectum and my abdomen was tender. I figured that maybe we just did it too rough and I was sore. Now it’s the day after, and I’m still hurting in my rectum and my abdomen is still sore.

History:
I have had two surgeries due to some type of abdominal pain. First one I was 17. Appendicitis and ovarian torsion. After my son was born [I was almost 20], I started having pain leading to my second surgery. I had adhesions that were pinning my only ovary and my colon up against each other to the wall of my abdomen. I had some others in places where they had removed my other ovary and apendix. They cut them all and said that it would probably happen again, but hopefully not. They also removed my IUD I had after my son. [During the insertion of the IUD my gyno was also burning my cervix because I had HPV. During that deal he burned the string attached to the IUD so they removed it surgically.]

After my surgery I felt great as did I the first surgery. A little pain during sex, but not much. Mostly because it had been so long since my husband and I had relations. [During the time of my pain I wasn't much into the sex...] But I got better and it became normal again. Then we went for 3 months and now this.

I’ve never had rectal pain after sex before.
I’ve also had breast pain lately. [Past week]

I was on birth control but stopped recently. [About 2 weeks ago]

I took a pregnancy test even though we hadn’t had sex recently b/c I wanted to make sure I hadn’t become pregnant and not known it. I wasn’t.

A few months ago [around the time we stopped having sex] I started breaking out and my periods started changing. I assumed it was some kind of hormonal imbalance so I’ve set an appointment with my gyno but they seem to not really think it’s a big deal.

I’ve been really fatigued and having joint pain… don’t think that’s related though but it could be I guess.

I noticed some rectal bleeding about 2 weeks ago. It was followed by some mucus in my stools and bowel changes. I then developed abdominal pain on my lower right side. I went to the doctor on Friday and he said I had an anal fissure. I am now noticing bruises on my abdomen on the right side. I had no injury and I did not bump it in any way. Is this just a coinsidence or is there something else going on?

I’ve been having this problem for more than 3 months. Some exercises I do when I lift weights give me a weird twitchy feeling on my left and right sides of my abdomen. Kind of like my ascending and descending colon get spastic while I lift a certain way. I’m positive the way in which i’m lifting is correct, but I want to know why i get this feeling. The reason this is so important to me is because it generally leads to me not being able or passing very little stool for the next few weeks or so. Has anybody else experienced anything like this?
had a cat scan, no abnormal obstructions/ not an organic issue.
