Rectal bleeding and abdominal pain?
For around six years my husband has experienced abdominal pain, bloating, cramping, constant diarrhea(multiple loose Bm’s every day during this time) with bleeding in sometimes large amounts. We have done cultures, blood tests, xrays, full colonoscopy, and biopsies for cancer. Everything has come back normal. He supposedly has no hemorroids, tears, or ulcers to explain the bleeding(which is bright red so it’d be lower?) After so many years we’re out of idea’s. Do you have any? My husband is only 23.
No…he has diarrhea. Not just now and then, but -every- day for six years… I think you may have skipped over some details…not to be mean or anything, but…
We had him tested for Chrohns but then again his doc seemed incompetent…
Thank you so much everyone. I atleast have a few new things to go on. Hopefuly theyll find something before anything serious like surgery. Thank you again all. ![]()
I’ll definitely try the metamucil. I wont mind him talking about it if it works. Hehe

He may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I suffer from it as well, but I bled a lot less than you’ve described. What worked for me was Metamucil. In fact it worked like magic! Within three days of when I started taking it my tummy and bowel movements became completely normal. Just have him take the recommended dose just before his largest meal of the day. And be sure he drinks at least 8 ounces of a liquid immediately after each dose.
One word of warning, though: If the Metamucil works for him as well as it did for me, he’s going to be so excited about it he’s going to want to tell the world…and talk about personal bodily functions in mixed company.
Good Luck! I hope it is IBS because it’s very easy and very cheap to treat.
omg doctor hes probably just really constipated ive had something similar
He could have Chron’s disease…commonly affects young men. My Ex husband had the same symptoms as your hubby and that’s what it turned out to be.
i’ve seen something similar on mystery diagnosis.. but can’t remember what the man had, it was some disease that can be controlled with antibiotics.. it was rare also like his hands would hurt or get swollen at times
I knew a guy who had that happen to him…ended up getting so bad he lost too much blood and had to go to surgery. No one knew what was wrong. He now has a stoma… and no one still knows.
BUT if I were him I would stick to a very very strict diet. Write what he eats how much blood he loses…etc
