PROSTATITIS, RECTAL PAIN?
Dear reader i’m just posting for some advice,my husband has prostatitis and the doctor prescribed him 100mg doxycycline twice a day,
He has been taking the medicine for three days, how long does this medicine usually take to have effect?
Also he is suffering rectal pressure pain and is flying to england from seattle tomorrow, so he will be sitting for many hours, what can he do to relieve this pain and make his trip more comfotable. any help would be appreciated,thanks

It could take the entire course for him to feel better (and I hope they gave him two to three weeks worth!) He could take a hot sitz bath tonight and take ibuprofen (if he is not allergic to it) 800 mg (that’s four over the counter tablets) every six hours with food on a scheduled basis (even if he is not having pain at the time) for the anti-inflammatory properties. He should be taking a hot sitz bath twice a day or using a heating pad and, he’ll be happy to hear this…increase his sexual activity (yeah, I know…like you have to TELL a guy that!) to help clear the prostatic secretions out.
