Rectal and painful prostate are different kinds of problems and will cause different sorts of pain. At your age it is unlikely you have a prostate problem, but not completely out of the question.Colitis, prostatis are possible. My advice is to see a urologist and put your concerns to rest.It could be just a reoccurring infection. I am in my fifth year of surviving prostate cancer and there were no symtems prior to discovery. No pain. See a Doctor, you'll sleep better.

Maybe you have an infection, or an enlarged prostate, your best bet would be go to a urologist/proctologist and find out where the discomfort is coming from.

Sounds like proctalgia fugax, although it mostly occurs at night and wakes you up. It's a bad muscle cramp near the anus. Does it feel like an awful cramp down there? So bad that you are like paralyzed with pain and don't know what do to to get rid of it? Goes away in 15-25 mins and then you are fine with no other problems? If so, that is probably what it is. I used to have that when I was younger, although mine were about 1 time per month. Either I grew out of it, or being on Paxil knocked it out.

If you have those episodes I feel ya man!
O-U-C-H!!!

It is more common than u think and you are not alone with it.

LOL mikem33607 u r mean!

YOU SHOULD LET YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR KNOW OF YOUR SYMPTOM. HE WILL PROBABLY CHECK YOUR PROSTATE AND DO A FINGER CHECK TO MAKE SURE NOTHING ELSE IS GOING ON! IF YOU ARE TOO EMBARRASSED TO GO, GO ANYWAY.
