Is a rectal exam supposed to hurt?
My wife just had one done by her obgyn as part of a physical and it made her scream and she cried due to the "worst pain she had ever felt".

no, it shouldn’t hurt. It’s not comfortable though, it feels like odd pressure and like you’re going to have a bowel movement. If it hurt, she may need to ask her doctor why it was so painful. She may have polyps or something.
