Hi Isabella,,
Katherin is right. Don’t go for a general colon detox.
Many people detox to lose weight (hence the many varieties of starvation detox diets) or use it in order to continue with unhealthy and over-indulgent lifestyles! The dangers come in when people chose unsafe detox methods without considering the harmful side-effects, such as colonic irrigation, or liquid-diets that rob the body of essential nutrients.
It is therefore important to explore detox options and choose one that gently assists the body, without causing any harm during the process. It is also not advisable to use detoxing as a quick fix weight-loss plan as this promotes “yo-yo” dieting that has been linked with weight-gain.
Natural and homeopathic remedies have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years to assist the body’s natural detoxification at home by ridding itself of waste and toxins, therefore cleansing the organs. In more recent times, research has confirmed this traditional wisdom.
There are now various published clinical studies demonstrating the ability of a range of herbs to support the cleansing properties of certain herbs. Natural detoxification at home is easy through the routine flushing out of the stomach, and digestive system – supporting toxin elimination by the liver.
Studies have also shown natural substances to help the body remain regular and assist in the body’s ability to rid itself of waste products.
Dandelion and Fennel are just two herbs that have been used throughout history to cleanse and aid body detoxification, rejuvenate liver functioning, and kick-start the body back to life! Pelargonium reniforme is another ingredient that also works on promoting optimal liver functioning and supporting the body’s natural ability to break down and eliminate fat for a natural detoxification.
One such natural remedy is http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/products/detoxdrops.htm which has gained considerable popularity due to its zero side effects, support realistic and healthy weight management programs, and its supportive function in maintaining liver health and well-being.
Check it out and see if it helps. It seems, it generally does.
Good Luck!
Honestly, the only things you will discover from using a colon detox is a) that you wasted money, and b) that you’ll be running to the bathroom a lot, and c) you may even end up severely dehydrated from loss of fluids!
All that hype on TV is nothing but nonsense and lies geared towards susceptible people who want to believe such things!
Live a healthy and clean life, and you will find yourself much better off for it!
Katherin is 100% right.
The colon is self cleansing anyway.
Advocates believe the colon must be cleansed occasionally to clear out built-up waste and to keep it functioning properly. A large majority of medical doctors disagree, and in their view, the colon does not store waste material for months or years that has to be artificially removed. Some say colon cleansing can actually be dangerous.

Detoxing is something our body was designed to do on a regular basis so it’s not foreign to it. Even though there can be temporary cleanse side effects when detoxing the body, most do not experience detox symptoms that cause any serious problems.
However, when we eat junk foods, knot our gut with stress on a regular basis, don’t drink enough water, etc… the colon has more of a load than it can handle. Cleansing can help restore healthy stool and normal eliminatory function.
That’s when we need to detox and, depending on the amount of old waste the body has to release, there may be temporary detox symptoms which may include achy joints, flu-like symptoms and fatique. These normally clear out within one to three days and are not exactly side effects from the cleanse products as much as side effects of waste and toxicity releasing from the body.
