I shot my dog in the ass what do I do?
Me and my brother were shooting .22 rifles and my dog ran behind the targets and got shot through the ass. It went clean through the side of her butt, it stopped bleeding and she is acting fine, she is even running around, and jumped into the back of my truck fine. We put neosporin on the entrance and exit wound. The vet’s office i closed on the weekend, so how do i tell if i didn’t hit her intestines or colon?

Get her to the vet ASAP. She will need a thorough exam including ex-rays and antibiotics.
Next time you are shooting, make sure there are no live targets wandering around.
if the vet is closed just watch the wound closely until the vet is open again. make sure you clean it everyday and make sure it doen’t change colors, like get black. hopefully you didnt shoot her intestines, but if you did, im sure she wouldnt be running around. and if you can get some gauze pads and maybe try to tape them to her, or get a giant banaid if the wound is small enough. you dont want it to get infected. replace the pads everyday and keep the wound as clean as possible, then when the vet opens bring her and get it checked out. but im sure your dog will be fine.
She’ll start swelling up inside as the blood collects and she will slowly die from sepsis (whatever it’s called when the gut bacteria get into the blood stream).
Your dog was SHOT, she needs to see a vet. There are emergency vets that are open on the weekends that can tell you what to look for and advise you. My advice is to take her to a vet.
Call the vet emergency clinic nearest to your home. They will tell you whether or not you should bring her in for treatment.
if u really care about your dog you should take it to the vet.
You need to get her to the vet ASAP. There is no time to waste, your dog will need exams & x-rays.
Be more careful when you’re shooting & make sure nobody is in sight when you start shooting.
even if she looks fine you need to bring her to a vet..i once had a dog that was shot with a BB gun..and everything looked fine until about a week later..the place where he was shot started getting bigger and bigger until there was this big hole that was rotting out of him..she need to see a vet as soon as you can get her to one
You can’t unless you x ray the dog. you should take the dog to an emergency vet and have him checked.
