Hello dear, I do not agree the the opinion of the girl above me, it is just the opposite. You are definitely right that moderate intake, better on schedule of prune juice could make miracles in various aspects for your health, its main properties are really naturally detoxifying the body, through the gradual elimination of the waste and facilitating the work of the intestines. It is used from centuries in cases of severe to mild constipation, hemorrhoids, problems with the digestive system and natural supplier of vital bioflavonoids to your body ( so essential, especially those days).
To have effect you have to drink approximately 150gr of prune juice three to four times a day, always at least 30 minutes before meals for at about a month or two you will observe significant results.Keep also a healthy, balanced diet with lots of raw food.
Hope that is of help.
Have a great day!
lots of fiber. Try 30 days, at least 16 oz per day
Thinking about prune juice won’t do a thing for your intestine. Drinking it will be good for your digestive tract as will any other fruit or vegetable juice. Your best means of cleaning out the digestive tract is fiber from nuts, seeds and grains.
drinking enough prine juice will only get you dehydrated… hmm… not good. If you want to clean your digestive system: try a detoxifying kit. it called cleanse smart by renew life. Can be bought from any natural healthfood store and its very effective.
Good luck
prune juice is full of fiber and will cause you to become and stay regular
Prune juice does not have much fiber. You need 30 grams/day for a healthy intestinal tract. Increase your fiber slowly per day, and drink lots of water.
A nurse recommended to me 6 to 8 ounces of warm prune juice. I usually drink it in the late afternoon or early evening. Even when I have the right amount of fiber and water, I can still have problems, as my colon has little oomph. The warm prune juice is the one that works for me. I have also tried consuming 400mg of Magnesium which can be helpful.
Regarding fiber, ADA recommends consuming 25 – 35 gramms of dietary fiber/day. This is based on a 2000 calorie/day diet. The average women requires 21 grams of fiber/day. Calorie King, notes that one should consume 14 grams of fiber per every 1000 calories consumed. On average a serving of fruits or vegetables (1/2 cup cooked) contains 2 grams of fiber. For example; sweet potatoes noted as high fiber, are actually only 3 grams of fiber per serving. To start the day off with a good source of fiber, therea re some cereals out there that have as much as 6 to 8 grams of fiber per serving. It is difficult to find cereals that have less than four grams of sugar per serving, but they are out there in some of the organic and whole food markets. Some are not expensive as well! Add a serving of fruit (2 – 3 grams of fiber) to the cereal and you can consume as much as 10 grams of fiber!!
Two last points – thanks for reading this – 8 to 10 glasses (6-8 oz.) of fluids are crucial as someone already pointed out. They must be caffeine free however, so caffinated coffee, teas and sodas, do not count. Lastly, missing a day of passing stool is ok, but no more than that. Most Americans over the age 60 require surgery for ruptured diverticulitis, that is a ruptured part of the colon. This is seriously life threatening. Doctors say that they are seeing cases in pateint who are in their 20s and 30s. This is caused by the pressure and wear and tear that the colon endures as a result of constitpation. It happened to me. I am young and now almost a year and three surgeries later, I am getting my life back.
Peace and take care
We use it for my little boy when he causes himself to be constipated. It works wonders for him with only a little bit.
@ Steve R is correct. 100 g of prune juice has only 1 g of dietary fiber.
