Does anyone know- can stents be used on obstructions in the ascending colon?
Most things I’ve read online speak only about stenting nearer the rectum or on the left side of the large intestine, but can it be done with a colonoscope for the right side?
Also, does anyone know if an NG tube would still be used on a patient with a partial bowel obstruction if it was determined that a stent was going to be placed? Would the NG tube be used to clear things out in preparation for the procedure?

I don’t know much about the stints but I wouldn’t think they would use an NG tube if there is a obstruction. I think they would have to remove the obstruction then maybe put a G tube in for awhile.
Stents can be used in the large bowel potentially anywhere, though this is an uncommon procedure. Proximal colon stent placement has been more challenging than distal stents but are done. Generally they are placed palliatively for patients ineligible for surgery or as a "bridge" to surgery.
An NG tube is generally placed with obstruction as it relieves the pressure (by removing air & fluid) from above the obstruction. Would be done whether or not a stent would be placed, as it can be done immediately and help relieve painful obstructive symptoms.
