I mean did they have like chemo or radiation and did it still come back or stay away. And does colorectal come back in the same place again?

I only deal with cancer and must see 50 colon cases a month. Many patients never receive chemo or radiation and the cancer doesn’t come back. This is because their cancer was caught early. When it’s caught in a more advanced stage there is really no way to know if it is really gone. When it returns in these patients it has metastasized an therefore found in another part of the body. It cannot come back to the same area as that part of the colon has been removed.
no
Yes. I know of 2 cases….one where it was all removed and didn’t come back….and the other, where it wasn’t diagnosed in time and she ended up dying. Both had chemo and radiation. So far, the first one is ‘clear’ for the past 4 years. IF colorectal cancer is diagnosed in time…it is one of the most treatable cancers we have out there. FAR too many people die from this form of cancer….simply because they never get checked for it. If you are checked for it regularly, it is HIGHLY treatable.
I don’t think it comes back in the same spot, but new polyps or growths can reoccur, usually the doctor will do colonoscopy’s every so many months to keep a check and make sure no new polyps have grown
From the word "cancer" (meaning a crab); cancer tends to spread after surgery & chemotherapy. So do not expect to find it at the same place. It may spread to the liver (depends on the original location of the cancer), to the pancreas or even lungs. Depends also on the age of patient. The return of cancer, if any, can be 6 months to 3 years or never!
My cousin had colon cancer. He got it 20 years ago and he’s still alive. He underwent chemo. Now he eats mostly vegetarian, a lot of raw food, and he takes care of himself.
My mom. It came back twice, even after chemo. Within 4 weeks of her last checkup for it, it had come back and spread to her pancreas. She passed two weeks later.
Maggie that is a difficult question to answer. Like so many cancers it depends on the severity of the cancer and where it is located in the colon. If they are able to remove most of it then the chances of it returning are better but then there is always the possibility of trace amounts left still in the bloodstream. Of course chemo and radiation help , I wish I had a more substantive answer to give you. good luck.
