Colon cleansing can be a body detox, although all body detox methods aren’t necessarily colon cleansers.
There are a number of different ways to detox the body, not necessarily just by eating a cabbage diet for a week. LOL
I do a natural colon cleanse that is very gentle and helps to detox the body in the process. Its a combination of natural fiber and herbs called Herbal Fiberblend. A number of the herbs are anti-parasitic, so it helps to eliminate any parasites you may have picked up along the way, too.
Many people who use Herbal Fiberblend also lose weight as a result of cleansing their colon, but that’s really not what it is for. I really haven’t lost weight using it, but I’m only a couple of pounds overweight, and I still ate my regular diet while doing the cleanse.
It does clean you out though, that’s for sure. I had a few days of detox symptoms, but it was fairly mild. I was pleased with the results and have recommended it to a number of friends who were wanting to try it, too.
With any cleanse, you do need to drink plenty of water. It helps to flush the toxins out of your system and enables the cleanse to work more effectively.

Colon cleansing is a great way to lose weight in the short-term. However, you risk disturbing the balance of your gut by flushing out the good bacteria (even tho they give you bacteria to drink). I lost weight with regular colon cleansing but also developed IBS afterwards, so I do not recommend it!
The need to detox is a myth. You body detoxes itself naturally. If you drink only cabbage soup for a week, then go back to normal eating, you will gain all the weight back straight away (and the same applies to colon cleansing).
Drink lots of water, eat healthily, don’t drink or smoke (or do other drugs), do 30-40 minutes cardio 5 times per week and resistance training – that’s the way to "detox" and lose weight. (Sorry, there’s no magic bullet.)
You should also try eating 5-6 small meals per day instead of 3 big ones.
