After food is digested,the nutrients are absorbed in the large intestine but what happens when we need energy? When we start exercising, we use our muscle cells and blood is brought to them for cellular respiration . We know Fat, Protein and Carbohydrate digestion occurs in small intestine. Many chemicals such as Peptidases, Amaylase, Lipase etc facilitate the digestion process. But those very enzymes do no digest the lining of the small intestine. What prevents small intestine from getting digested? If its the mucous, can anybody explain what kind of mucous it is and how it works?
