Colorectal Cancer Archives

Since then I’ve had chemo & radiation treatment at the same time for 5 weeks, I had cancerous tumors removed from rectum, I still have to have chemo treatment, I wear an infusion pump this really sucks. If they removed the cancerous tumors why must I still under go the chemo treatments, my cock tail is 5fu, they also give me eloxim which makes me sensitive to cold. When will I be able not to have any treatments? I feel that the treatment is worse than the disease. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t I would let nature take its course. I’m on my second power port, first one got infected and had to be removed. I was in so much pain I prayed to die.

I mean did they have like chemo or radiation and did it still come back or stay away. And does colorectal come back in the same place again?

Anything can help. Anyone surviving stage four have some advice for a family member or sufferer?

Two months after a colectomy,my mom recently had a brain scan which showed 2 nodules in the left parietal lobe. The doctors have ruled out TB and toxoplasmosis. Her doctor says that colon cancer can not spread to her brain without affecting the liver. Is that True?

Is there a doctor out there who could give me some information about colorectal cancer, or anyone who may have had it already? My 35 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with this, and the entire family is stunned. None of us can believe it. She begins her treatment on the 19th… chemo will be a constant infusion except on weekends, and the radiation will be 5 days a week. This will go on for 5 weeks in order to shrink the tumor, and then they will do surgery and remove it. She was told that her lymph nodes in her abdomen are enlarged too, so she will receive radiation to that area as well. She already can’t have kids, and has no children, so compromising her fertility is not an issue. We just are scared silly at this point, and I am searching for answers or for someone who has been through it to "shine a light" for me. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

I mean from the beginning polys to metastasis.
could you talk about more specific?

MY FATHER HAS BEEN TREATED W/ CHEMO FOR ALMOST A YEAR. SPREAD TO LIVER AND LYMPH NODE. IT IS INOPERABLE THEY ARE STILL DOING CHEMO. THERE ARE ALOT OF OPTIONS

My moms best friend has colon cancer and is coming to town for a week and i wanna make sure she has good food that isnt gunna upset her stumich or anything. What should i keep in mind while putting together a plan?

My mom is 58 years old, she had colon cancer 8 years ago, she was clear for 7 years and in the last year has had a tumor form in her pelvis and spots on her lungs, both biopsied and results showed the same as her colon cancer. Yesterday she was diagnosed by x-ray of having stomache cancer, no biopsy yet to see if it is the same cancer, but assuming it is what is her chances of survival? She has lost 75 pounds in a year, 25 or more in the last 2 weeks while hospitalized. She has needed a blood transfusion, and went into renal failure 2 weeks ago. (she only has one kidney) She cannot eat solid foods, she will vomit, she has no appetite and is nautious all the time even with anti nausea meds. She is in extreme pain some days. The other night they maxed her out on narcotics, couldnt give her anymore without it being unsafe.
also she has had a colostomy bag for the past year because of the pelvic tumor.
so how bad does this sound and what is her treatment options and chances?

im really scared i read Colorectal cancer happens to ppl of age 50 and im only 15..

My mom had colon cancer and I was just wondering if there was a certain age that it is recommended I should get checked out.
Thanks!

My boyfriends ex (mother of his son) was diagnosed recently. I don’t know many details besides it hasn’t spread to any other organs and they told her she’ll need about 2 chemo treatments. I just wanted to know how long the treatments usually take? Also does this sound like a beatable cancer?

What could be the possible side-effects?

I would appreciate personal experiences very much! Thanks!
The loved one is none other than my precious mom. She has already had 2 doses of Avastin within a gap of 15 days…on 21st Apr. & 5th May. No serious side-effects so far. But the doctor says to wait till the third dose on 20th May. If she withstands that, things would hopefully perk up.

Could it possibly be a genetic for someone to have colon cancer and needs a partial coloectomy and they dont need no treatment at this time such as, radiation or chemotherapy? Will this young person to have normal bowels again? Do doctors really recommend the person to be on a special diet? Does that means they have to wear a bag through their skin?

i am searching for types of doctors who are certified to do that kind of procedure- extract cells from the colon to see if there are any cancerous cells in it… for example, like a urologist, oncologist, etc… are there other types that are allowed to do it too??

I am having a colostomy for colorectal cancer. There is some indications my liver may be also cancerous although 2 ct assisted biopses have been performed both coming back negative. what do you think my chances are.

A friend of mine has it and is enduring 8 hours of kemo drip a day and has lost all his hair and his tumor is not shrinking any like they had hoped.

I was reading a story that Farrah Fawcet has anal cancer. I thought we called it colon cancer or is there a difference?

Only 25 states mandate insurance companies to pay for colon cancer screening. See what your state’s grade is for colorectal cancer screening: http://www.eifoundation.org/national/nccra/report_card/flash_movie.html

You can go to www.myspace.com/dmsteach and sign my guestbook if you support colorectal cancer legislation. You can also email your congress reps and senators especially if your state has a failing grade. Thank you.

will i be able to get treated after 6-8 weeks of having symptoms of colon cancer? i feel fine right now … i read somewhere that colon cancer can be treated if it is detected early…how early??
