blood in my stools be dark red or bright red?
Mine is like a small DARK line? WHAT COULD IT BE
My mum just had a surgery 3 days ago to remove a colon cancer at the caecum. CT scan showed that it had not spread to other organs (No distant metastasis). Histopathology finding: Infiltrating moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The colorectal surgeon said whether the lymph nodes were affected or not would be confirmed after surgery and samples sent for testing. So we were hoping it would be a T3N0M0 type of cancer.
After surgery, I read surgeon’s operative findings: 1) Ca Cecum cT3N1M0, 2) No peritoneal seedlings, 3) Nodes present at right colon masentery, and 4) No ascites.
My questions:
1) Prior to pathology report, can the surgeon confirm the lymph nodes are infected?
2) My mum is 80 years old. If confirmed T3N1M0 and chemotherapy is required, should she go for it given her old age?
3) What is the survival rate with T3N1M0 surgically removed but no chemotherapy done?
Any help in enlightening me and clearing my doubts would be very much appreciated. Thanks
And he doesn’t have any hair and looks really sick. It’s really embarassing to be sit by him, let alone say he’s my boyfriend. I want to break up with him, but I’m not certain how. Help?
I mean, I know it’s a really tough time in his life right now, but I shouldn’t have to be uncomfortable or embarrassed. I just want to know how I can break up with him?
Routine screening for Prostate cancer and colorectal cancer is not part of the Canadian Health care system.

Between a Colorectal screening and a Colorectal diagnosis? Does medicaare only cover the screening?
I understand that obesity is one of the highest risk factors of developing colorectal cancer, but I don’t understand why. I’ve researched a little and can’t find an answer.
Thanks for the contributions! More detail can be added though, I’m a nursing student, so no need to be super basic! Thanks ![]()
Only 25 states mandate insurance companies to pay for colon cancer screening. See what your state’s grade is for colorectal cancer screening: http://www.eifoundation.org/national/nccra/report_card/flash_movie.html
You can go to www.myspace.com/dmsteach and sign my guestbook if you support colorectal cancer legislation. You can also email your congress reps and senators especially if your state has a failing grade. Thank you.
I’m 20 and am going through the chemo for it. Its bothered me ever since I was diagnosed that its not common to get it at a young age, and even more when I’m at the chemo clinic and everyone there is literally in their 60s and over. So I was wondering whether there was anyone else out there who’s young and been affected by it.
I’m taking a statistics class and working on some of the homework, and I’ve come to what seems like a trick question to me:
—————————————–
2. To diagnose colorectal cancer, the Hemoccult test- among others- is conducted to detect occult blood in the stool. This test is used from a particular age on, but also in routine screening for early detection of colorectal cancer. Imagine you conduct a screening using the Hemoccult test in a certain region. For symptom-free people over 50 years old who participate in screening using the Hemoccult test, the following information is available for this region:
The probability that one of these people has colorectal cancer is 1.3%. If a person has colorectal cancer, the probability is 90% that the person will have a positive hemoccult test. If a person does not have colorectal cancer, the probability is 5% that the person will have a positive hemoccult test.
a. What is the probability that a randomly chosen person in the mentioned category does not have colorectal cancer and then has a positive Hemoccult test? Write the question using function notation. Show your work.
—————————————-
I want to say that the answer is 5% due to the fact that it clearly states " If a person does not have colorectal cancer, the probability is 5% that the person will have a positive hemoccult test", but why would the textbook ask the question if the answer’s right there? It’s an even problem too, which means I can’t check the back of the book to get an idea if I’m right or not.
In my attempt to solve the problem, I started out using the P(B|A) = P(A and B)/P(A) formula, but using the values of (1 – .013) as the top, and .05 as the bottom gives an answer that doesn’t make sense. Should I flip them around? As in, (.05)/(1-.013), or am I going about this entirely the wrong way?
I am 15 years old and I don’t have a family history of cancer but i was worried about whether i have colorectal cancer. So what are my chances of getting colorectal cancer?
I also ask the same question for breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and non-hodgkin lymphoma.
Anybody know?
KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) – A Tri-Cities health board reversed itself Wednesday and voted against endorsing a colon cancer awareness campaign that uses billboards saying, "What’s up your butt?"
The Tri-City Herald reports the Benton Franklin Health District commissioners responded to complaints the ads are in poor taste.
The butt billboards have been displayed in Yakima to raise colorectal cancer awareness and encourage people to get screened for the disease.
-Every few months after I go to the bathroom (aka #2) there is bright red blood on the toilet tissue and in the toilet.
-This only happens once within a span of weeks-months but usually recurs.
-It hasn’t happened in a few weeks.
1.) How many people are affected by cancer in united states? How does cancer rate in terms of leading causes of death in America? Has this changes over the last 10 or 20 years? What do we need to know about it and why? How can screening tests and behavior changes help us?
2.) What is the incident rate for this cancer?
3.) How do I choose a doctor to treat my cancer?
4.) What are the possible environmental and/or genetic causes of this cancer?
5.) What new treatment are being researched? Any promising clinical trials under way at this time? How do you find out about these?
he wakes up at 1 and cannot fall back asleep until 5 because of intense pain in his rectum. He still has not seen a specialist.
my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. they had it cut out and said it was in his early stages. he is now taking 6 months treatment to make sure it doesn’t come back. the other day i was discussing this with my friend and she said her grandma also caught cancer in it’s early stages but still died. can the same thing happen to my dad?
I had stage IIIC colon cancer earlier on this year, and went through 6 months of chemo for it. Last week a precancerous polyp was found in the colon.
What would the treatment be? Just the removal, or chemo as well?
I’m really scared as to what happens now.
