I would like to know what is the difference between a small bowel follow through and an MRE (magnetic resonance enterography)???
my friend had a carcinoig tumor removed from her small bowel and they found this same type of cancer in some of her lymph nodes in the same region. What are the treatment options? Survival rate/time frame?
I had my ultrasound yesterday, doctor found some water in baby’s bowel and also dilatation of small and large bowel. What does that mean? I am really worried… At 25 weeks they found echogenic bowel, now echogenicity has gone, but there is dilatation and water…
We all know that small bowel resection is a method to join normal intestines using a suture thread. Over time will the small intestine naturally join / close together (e.g when you cut yourself with a knife you wound will naturally closed / healed) or its still depend on the thread to hold them together?
I used to just have normal bowel movements…usually daily. Then ,in the last 4 months……..I push and push and very small bowels(the size of cat poop or less came out.)Now,I can only have a bowel movement with a laxative. But,I haven’t waited more than 3 days to do so
Ok, this is kind of embarrassing to ask, but lately my feces have been very small and hard. I’ve completely changed my diet and exercise routine and was wondering if maybe that could be the case. I have cut out a lot of sugars and fats from my diet and have been eating more protein and dairy. I have also been working out everyday and drinking a lot more water. I thought all these changes would actually help make me more "regular" with bowel movements but just the opposite has happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is my body just getting used to my new diet and exercise?
I have been running since 1977. Before each and every race from 5k to marathon, I always have numerous bowel movements up to the time of the race. This has NEVER happened before training runs. It’s been occurring for the last 33 years, so I definately know how to deal with it. Just wanted to know if this happens to other runners as well.
For the past week, I’ve been having painless bowel movements that accompany a very small amount of bright red blood when I wipe. I don’t have pain nor strain passing the stools, but it just came to concern since it has been happening for the past weekish. What do you think could be wrong? Thanks.
The next day it had cleared up. Has anyone had this type of experience???
Recently I’ve been having bowel movements every morning but the stools are thinner than they used to be, not too much comes out and I haven’t been had an "s" shaped bowel movement in awhile. I don’t have much stomach pain, just some aches every now and then. I bled once about a few months ago when i had a bowel movement and i was worried then. I’m worried again in regards to colon cancer. I am 19 years old and wondering why my stool is thinner and smaller..does that mean colon cancer??
My 5 year old eats and goes has a bowel movement sometimes its quite a bit and most times its small?
he also has cramping at times and when wipe has a bit of blood .Iam worried his father says its nothing please help
No rude comments please. I just need to know the facts. I know bacteria getting in your bloodstream is a very bad thing.
I am 70+ & on several meds —lots of fiber does little to help

She is 56 year old. All other investigations such as colonocopy, endoscopy with small biopsy, thyroid, complete blood count, no sugar complaint, serum creatine are normal. Has loose motions on whatever eaten/drank and noisy stomach. Serum B12 is 148 as against low limit of 286.Having injections of B12 weekly and folic acid tabs. But w/o Imodium caps, her problem persists. Can any medical professional throw some light on proper diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you Dr House. There is no vomiting or blood in stool. It is watery and urgent and anything eaten thrown out. Feeling very weak, loosing weight and stomach noisy and feeling uneasy. BP 110/70. While taking Imodium caps once a day, things are normal. Diagnosis seems to be never ending. Weekly once B1/B6/B12 injection 2ml ampule and daily Folic acid tabs being continued for more than a month now.

I have had constipation and bloating issues for a year and a half – my doctors think I have irritable bowel syndrome. After passing a small, loose bowel movement today, I noticed what appeared to be a small, translucent, scaly organism (appeared similar to a mini mini shrimp or something along those lines?) with small antennae in the toilet bowl. This is the first time anything like this has occurred and I am freaked out. I have a doctor’s appointment lined up, but this is grossing me out – do I have some sort of parasitic infection?!

ETA: I did have some yellowish diarrhea the day before yesterday. Have not been out in the sun.
Its sunday night and I went to the hospital for this on saturday and they couldn’t find any evidence of blood, however it only happens after a bowel movement. I am going to consult my ob tomorrow just wondering if anybody had any idea what this could be?
if I had a small bowel obstruction, or any bowel obstruction for over a month, would I know it? would I be in a lot of pain? what symptoms would I have
also, what does it mean when you pass gas, and just a little noise and little gas comes out when you are expecting a bigger noise and more gas to come out?
b/g: mom has ovarian cancer, however all recent (past few months) ct-scans, x-rays, and ultrasounds show no tumors. About two months ago severe vomitting (from an oral chemo) resulted in no mobility of the gut and thus no eating or bowel movements.
question:
recent x-ray of abdoemn said:
"Positive bowel gas is noted. Organ shadows and osseous shadows are grossly negative. No significant stools are identified." Prior ct-scan (about 1 to 2 mo ago) said scan shows consistent with ileus vs sbo.
So does this sound like it is ileus and not a sbo? miralax is not really working and I’m not sure what to do to make the bowel ‘active’ again (there are no sounds). What does ‘positive bowel gas’ mean in relation to what’s going on?
Thanks in advance for any assistance
