A liquid diet is good for you entire system every once and a while it is good for the body to cleanse itself…..
Hot lemonade cleanse is great! Here's the recipe:
* 2 Tablespoons (1 fluid ounce) fresh-squeezed lemon or lime juice NOT BOTTLED JUICE!! (approx. 1/2 lemon),
* 2 Tablespoons (1 fluid ounce) organic Grade B maple syrup,
* 1/10 Teaspoon or more cayenne pepper (hot red pepper), and
* 1 Cup (8 fluid ounces) purified or spring water, NOT fluoridated water.
It's a great system cleansing good for liver, colon, gall bladder and kidney stones…….

Not in my experience. You need fiber rich foods such as apples, prunes, green vegetables (cabbage, collard or turnip greens, spinach, broccoli), drink 8 glasses of water each and every single day, and take a teaspoon of mineral oil.
The purpose of the cleansing may determine what diet you need. If you are cleansing for a flex sig, or CT scan you would prep differently than say for a colonoscopy. The "colon cleanse" junk you see on the infomercials is really not healthy for you, nor is the need for them based on fact. The cleansing diet you need for colonoscopy would depend on the amount of retained stool you may be carrying. Typically, a day of clear liquid diet after a few days of other increasing dietary restrictions prior to the prep for colonoscopy is sufficient. Some people who tend toward constipation may benefit from 48 hrs soft diet, the last 24 hours of that being clear liquid only and then the prep.
