Can chemotherapy reverse a small bowel obstruction?
This is what her doctors are saying could happen. She has Stage 3 ovarian cancer and has had 2 chemos so far but still has the bowel obstruction…should this reverse it? What other options might they do that they are not telling me? She can’t go home like this! Anybody have experience with this?

the small bowel obstruction should be resolved by surgery, then chemotherapy can prevent it to occur in the future, with metastatic ovarian cancer, small bowel involvement is not uncommon.
-The bowel obstruction or irritation you are mentioning is the side effect of Chemotherapy. All cancer treatments have worst side effects and patient will suffer more of these side effects than the disease itself.
Stage III cancer at any organ of the body is serious. In ovarian censer the stage definitions are -
Stage III – microscopic peritoneal implants outside of the pelvis; or limited to the pelvis with extension to the small bowel or omentum
IIIA – microscopic peritoneal metastases beyond pelvis
IIIB – macroscopic peritoneal metastases beyond pelvis less than 2 cm in size
IIIC – peritoneal metastases beyond pelvis > 2 cm or lymph node metastases
Stage IV – distant metastases
Stage III can not be cured by simple chemotherapy only. Your Oncologist must have done a surgery to remove the tumor or the full reproductive system. Chemo will be effective only after removal of the tumor.
Further radiation therapy also needed to be given. The idea is that all the cancerous cells should be destroyed by all available means and nothing should be left in the body as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA. Please ask your Oncologist to tell in details and he will certainly make you understand. Best of luck for early recovery of the patient.
Have you checked with natural medicine doctors to see if there is an alternative that the regular doctors wont even mention???
