Are the large intestine and the colon the same thing? If not, what it the differnce?

   I’m a nurse, and it is the same thing, but isn’t. The large colon is in sections. The ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and Sigmoid colon. At the end of it is the rectum where the fecal matter is stored before it leaves the body. Here’s a picture if you want to see better

   They’re the same thing. Small intestine, and large intestine are different, however.
