I am mentioning this because I care and people should be made aware. While the majority of PAs are perfectly capable, just use common sense and realise that you, as the patient, should always ask questions and even get a 2nd opinion.

I see the PA for sinus problems, things like that but I make an appt with my PMD for anything else. A lot of our patients in our office have never seen their PMD. They only see the PA. That is scary to me. Two examples below:

I just took my friend to an Ambulatory Surgery Center for a procedure for a kidney stone where they put you to sleep and pulverize the stones with sonic waves. She went for prior blood tests and the wonderful bowel cleansing had to be done the night before. She got there and the urologist looked at the x-ray and said "this is not a kidney stone, it’s a shadow" and sent her home. The PA at her PMDs office diagnosed it – this girl has chronic kidney stones and has had them before – so the PA saw the shadow and said "kidney stone". Scary.

Another friend went to her regular dr and ended up seeing the PA who referred her to a neurosurgeon for her neck. This girl has numerous serious problems and her shoulder and arm were very painful, numb, etc. She had and MRI and x-rays done. She sat for 4 hrs and ended up seeing the neuro surgeon’s PA who told her she saw nothing serious on the x-rays and that HER neck was 100 xs worse than my friends. She gave her a script for physical therapy for 6 weeks and told her to come back and see another dr in the practice after that. My friend called her regular dr who said his PA should never have referred her to that dr. He got her an appt with someone else, put her in a cervical collar until then and said under no circumstances go to PT as they could do serious damage as she has 3 ruptured discs all pressing on the spinal column. The neurosurgeon did call her himself and apologize for the wait that day and told her the same thing. She said "well that is not what your PA told me" and he just apologized for that also.

Scary, scary, scary. Also, if you see the PA – why do you have to pay a full copay? You aren’t seeing the real doctor.

You, as the patient, have the right to question your doctor on anything. Don’t let anyone pressure you into something you are not sure of. Seek a second opinion. That is your right. While most PAs are very knowledgeable, they ARE NOT doctors and their findings should be reviewed with the doctor prior to making any surgical decisions, etc.
I did have this in the medical section with no response other than an idiot answer, probably from one of the PAs I was talking about. ha

He has finished colonoscopy as well as endoscopy , it says Transverse Colon shows Hepatic flexure? shows polypid growth with surface ulcerations.

Has anyone tried the acai max and colon cleanse diet supplements? Did they really work as the ads say?

My mom had a colonoscopy today, she gets one done every two years. The doctor took a sample and I was wondering. Is two years enough time for cancer to develop to a point where it cant be treated? or can the doctor just take samples to study them and not necesarily to find cancer? I am really concerned and sad.

I’m looking into doing detox, but I’m not sure which is more effective, the 7-day detox pills or the daily colon cleanse pill. If I do the 7-day detox pills, how often should I do it, twice a month, once a month? If I do the colon cleanser pill, is it safe to take it everyday, every other day, once a week?

When I say, patients in our office, I mean patients that come into our office and schedule surgery. We need them to make an appointment with their primary doctor for medical clearance. We do not have a nurse here or a PA.
I’m trying to give people a heads up because I care – and I get an idiot answer from some disgruntled PA – probably.

A friend of mine has experienced regular rectal bleeding on an approximately monthly basis for a year or so now. There’s no pain, but a reasonable flow of blood from his rectum. What might be the cause of this? No jokes, please.

I am 37 weeks preggo. I know that at this point it is common for women to feel uncomfortable at this point but should it be down right painful. I feel like my vagina is bruised and I have a ton of vaginal and rectal pressure. On top of that, my back feels like it is broken. I try to stay active and go on walks but the more activity I do the more it feels like someone beat me up with a baseball bat. I also have been having lots of menstral like cramping. The doctor checked me yesterday and said my cervix is completely closed and 0% effaced. I know it seems like I am complaining a lot and maybe I am just being a big baby but I just wanted to know if other women had to go through this too being pregnant.
Cant really rest because we are moving. . bad timing I know!!

Are not every day, what can i do without activia or anything like that. I’d rather use natural things. My stomach is bloated sometimes. What can i do to be "regular". Also , are there any colon cleansing things for kids. A friend asked me. Best answer must please answer both questions. Thanks.

VERY skeptical about this. But have had some symptoms.
My biggest thing is what do you eat after-wards. Fiber okay(more detailed exactly what)
No meats(red) okay
What about Lobster,Shrimp, Fish (Tilapiaa)

Raw veggies and fruits -Okay EXACTLY what Veggies and EXACTLY what fruits..
Smartazz out-there , no smartazzs comments or sarcastic comments
PPL please be specific..

I have read on here that it normally takes days for a bowel movement. But I went the morning after my colonoscopy.

I have been told that taking too many will harm my liver. I take: black cohash, flaxseed, vit. E, intestine cleaner, green tea extract, soy, calcium, fiber pill, coral calcium, milk thistle, ect…

I must have ate too much or waited too long to go to the bathroom, because I got a rectal fissure.

I’ve had one once or twice before, but this one is much worse. There is a lot of blood with every movement. There is enough blood to tint the toilet water. And there is a considerable amount of thick, mucously blood when I whipe.

The pain doesn’t bother me, just the idea that this won’t heal does. What can I do about this? Would fasting for a few days help?

Im a 25 year old male in excellent health with no other problems… What are some things I could do to speed up the healing process?

[please don't say "go to the doctor", I don't have health insurance]
Ok, it isn’t a hemroid. I can see the cut and other wise its normal. No hemroids.

I recently found out through a family member that my dad is going to Phoenix to see some specialist for colonoscopies/colon cancer. He had his colonoscopy and polyps or cysts were found. Does anyone know if Phoenix has any unique cancer treatment centers/diagnostic centers? I’m very confused about everything, but I can’t confront him about it because he’s not supposed to know that I know.

I’m exercising doing Insanity workouts, & eating healthy, more fruits & vegetables as well as taking greens powder and a good natural multivitamin daily, I’m also taking psyllium husks, & aloe vera, to clean my colon. (for about a week) How long will it take to detox, or be toxin free, I’m 25 and have had Candida for a few years. I’m also starting a candida diet (again) & natural anti candida remedies: coconut oil, garlic, oregon oil, etc.
(I sweat a lot when I workout & drink plenty of water)

I am 32 year old healthy female, vegetarian for 17 years. no history of colon cancer in family. I sometimes get this quick sharp or dull pain in my rectum. I have never had blood in my stool or black stool. i have not lost any weight and have not lost my appetite at all. I have also had normal blood work twice in the last 10 months……can this be rectal or colon cancer?

Is that attributed to poor diet?

All in all, it hadn’t been a good day. Bad traffic,
A malfunctioning computer, incompetent coworkers and
A sore back all made me a seething cauldron of rage.

But more importantly for this story, it had been over
Forty-eight hours since I’d last taken a dump. I’d
Tried to jump start the process, beginning my day
With a bowl of bowel-cleansing fiber cereal, following
It with six cups of coffee at work, and adding a bean-laden
Lunch at Taco Bell.

As I was returning home from work, my insides let me
Know with subtle rumbles and the emission of the occasional
Tiny fart that Big Things would be happening soon. Alas,
I had to stop at the mall to go shopping. I completed
This task, and as I was walking past the stores on my
Way back to the car, I noticed a large sale sign proclaiming,
"Everything Must Go!" This was prophetic, for my colon
Informed me with a sudden violent cramp and a wet,
Squeaky fart that everything was indeed about to go.
I hurried to the mall bathrooms. I surveyed the five stalls,
Which I have numbered 1 through 5 for your convenience:

1.Occupied.

2.Clean, but Bathroom Protocol forbids its use, as it’s
Next to the occupied one.

3.Poo on seat.

4.Poo and toilet paper in bowl, unidentifiable liquid
Splattered on seat.

5.No toilet paper, no stall door, unidentifiable sticky
Object near base of toilet.

Clearly, it had to be Stall #2. I trudged back, entered,
Dropped trousers and sat down. I’m normally a fairly Shameful
Sh1tter. I wasn’t happy about being next to the occupied stall,
But Big Things were afoot.

I was just getting ready to bear down when all of a sudden
The sweet sounds of Beethoven came from next door, followed
By a fumbling, and then the sound of a voice answering the
Ringing phone. As usual for a cell phone conversation, the
Voice was exactly 8 dB louder than it needed to be. Out of
Shameful habit, my sphincter slammed shut. The inane conversation
Went on and on.
Mr. Shitter was blathering to Mrs. Shitter about the shitty day
He had. I sat there, cramping and miserable, waiting for him to
Finish. As the loud conversation dragged on, I became angrier
And angrier, thinking that I, too, had a crappy day, but I was
Too polite to yak about in public. My bowels let me know in no
Uncertain terms that if I didn’t get crapping soon, my day would
Be getting even crappier.

Finally my anger reached a point that overcame Shamefulness.
I no longer cared. I gripped the toilet paper holder with one
Hand, braced my other hand against the side of the stall, and
Pushed with all my might. I was rewarded with a fart of colossal
Magnitude — a cross between the sound of someone ripping a very
Wet bed sheet in half and of plywood being torn off a wall.

The sound gradually transitioned into a heavily modulated low-RPM
Tone, not unlike someone firing up a Harley. I managed to hit the
Resonance frequency of the stall, and it shook gently.
Once my ass cheeks stopped flapping in the breeze, three things
Became apparent: (1) The next-door conversation had ceased;
(2) my colon’s continued seizing indicated that there was more
To come; and (3) the bathroom was now beset by a horrible, eldritch
Stench. It was as if a gateway to Hell had been opened. The foul
Miasma quickly made its way under the stall and began choking my
Poop-mate.

This initial "herald" fart had ended his conversation in mid-sentence.

"Oh my God," I heard him utter, following it with suppressed sounds
Of choking, and then, "No, baby, that wasn’t me (cough, gag), you
Could hear that (gag)??"

Now there was no stopping me. I pushed for all I was worth.
I could swear that in the resulting cacophony of rips, squirts,
Splashes, poots, and blasts, I was actually lifted slightly off
The pot. The amount of stuff in me was incredible. It sprayed
Against the bowl with tremendous force.
Later, in surveying the
Damage, I’d see that liquid poop had actually managed to ricochet
Out of the bowl and run down the side on to the floor. But for now,
All I could do was hang on for the ride.

Next door I could hear him fumbling with the paper dispenser as
He desperately tried to finish his task. Little snatches of
Conversation made themselves heard over my anal symphony:
"Gotta go… Horrible… Throw up… In my mouth… not… m
ake it… tell the kids… love them… oh God…" followed
by more sounds of suppressed gagging and retching.

Alas, it is evidently difficult to hold one’s phone and
wipe one’s bum at the same time. Just as my high-pressure
abuse of the toilet was winding down, I heard a plop and
splash from next door, followed by string of swear words
and gags. My poop-mate had dropped his phone into the toilet.

There was a lull in my production, and the restroom became
deathly quiet. I could envision him standing there, wondering
what to do.
A final anal announcement came trumpeting from my
behind, small chunks plopping noisily into the water. That must
have been the last straw. I heard a flush, a fumbling with the
lock, and then the stall door was thrown open. I heard him running out
of the bathroom, slamming the door behind him. After a considerable
amount of paperwork, I got up and surveyed the damage. I felt bad
for the janitor who’d be forced to deal with this, but I knew that
flushing was not an option. No toilet in the world could handle that
unholy mess. Flushing would only lead to a floor flooded with filth.

As I left, I glanced into the next-door stall. Nothing remained
in the bowl. Had he flushed his phone, or had he plucked it out
and left the bathroom with nasty unwashed hands? The world will
never know.

I exited the bathroom, momentarily proud and Shameless, looking around
for a face glaring at me. But I saw no one. I suspect that somehow my
supernatural elimination has managed to transfer my Shamefulness
to my
anonymous poop-mate. I think it’ll be a long time before he can bring
himself to poop in public — and I doubt he’ll ever again answer his
cell phone in the loo. And this, my friends, is why you should never
talk on your phone in the bathroom.

diet supplement can flush out the colon?
or like a colon pill?

I’ve really been wanting to do a body cleanse / colon cleanse / intestine cleans / detox for awhile now.. and having just giving birth Monday it would really be nice to start getting back to normal and feeling good again.. not to mention loose this weight! But I have no clue what works or what to buy! Something natural would be great but it doesn’t have to be.. any recommendations appreciated! thanks
