Heard wonderful things about colon cleansing… I bought one of the better ones, did not change my diet but followed direction EXACTLY, and now ive put on close to eight pounds. any suggestions to what i might be doing wrong?

I am a 21 year old female. I am being treated with prilosec otc for acid reflux. My doctor had asked me if I had any blood in my stools. I know it may be funny, but I look at my stools every time I pass one. I had not had blood in my stool until today. I have been on prilosec for a week now. This morning, I had a bowel movement and there was a lot of blood. Not mixed in with my stool. It was also dripping from me. I am in no pain at all, am not constipated, or having trouble passing my stools. This happened the same night. Same amount of blood and no pain. I am worried something may be wrong but I am not sure what. It is Saturday, my doctor is obviously not in on Sunday. Is this something I should get checked out right away or wait a few days and see. I have not had anything like this happen to me before.

I really want to do a colon cleanse, but im not sure what to do or what to use. I was pretty convinced to use Dr. Natura’s Colonix, but then i read somewhere that it is a scam. I don’t know what to believe anymore. Can anyone with experience help me out? I just want to know what to do or use for a first time colon cleanse. I have been very prepared to get my first colonoscopy over with this morning. However, I began the mandatory colon cleansing around 6 pm last night and experienced no bowel movement whatsoever. I followed the MoviPrep instructions exactly and absolutely nothing. I poop all the time (diarrhea) and then they tell me to down some heavy duty laxative that tastes like salt and this doesn’t make me go! What the hell is going on?

Back in july I had a yearly female checkup and I mentioned to her at the time that I had been experiencing some dull pain in my right lower abdomen, bloating in my belly and showed her some stretch marks that had developed over the area that was. I also mentioned that I had been feeling bone tired and a little lethargic, She was more concerned thought that both of my legs were very swollen–I hadn’t even noticed that. She tested me for diabetes and told me I should see my gp if i was still not feeling well. I didn’t even think of mentioning that I’d been having issues with my movements. I thought if anything I had an ovarian cyst. The tests for diabetes came back normal and I didn’t really give it any more thought.

Flash forward to the beginning of November and I had what I thought was a stomach flu that just would not go away–vomitting and diarrhea. I finally went to the doctor and repeated my story about the pressure in my lower right abdomen, and he got me in for a CT scan immediately thinking it could be an appendicitis. He called me a few days later and let me know that he wanted me to get in for a colonoscopy and was referring me to a gastroentologist because they found what looked to be a 2.5 cm "bilobulated Mass" near the cecum in my ascending colon. He was reluctant to answer my questions and said he thought it would be best if I saved them for the Gastroentologist. When I spoke with the Gastroentologist he started talking about something they saw with the small intestine (jejunum?) that he thought might be a duplication cyst on the left side of my upper abdomen. He seemed to not even be aware of the mass. When I asked about it he said that it might just be a problem with the CT scan and said he would have them schedule me as a priority but not an emergency. Well the first "priority" colonoscopy I could get was 12/15– a month later. I at this point was not worried, after all if it was really urgent they would have gotten me in sooner and the duplication cyst didn’t sound like a big deal. He did however want me to have a small bowel follow through done to check out the "duplication cyst" ASAP. When I went in for that test, the radiologist painted a different picture. He said that what they saw on the left side was thickening of the folds and was almost certainly NOT a duplication cyst. Then he asked me what I knew about the mass. I told him what I knew and he said that what they saw looked like it was on the outside wall of the colon, if that was the case the colonoscopy may not show anything which would mean surgery. He asked if I had been loosing wait which I had. I think that is when I started to get scared. I asked if they thought it was cancer and he said they can’t tell anything until they get a biopsy. That was 3 weeks ago and I still haven’t gotten the results for it and my colonoscopy isn’t for 2 more weeks. I emailed my doctors office but have not heard back. I’m afraid I’m overreacting to all of this and do not want to turn into a hypochondriac. I’m just so tired, achey and now the pain is different. I’ve never dealt with anything like this before and I don’t want to talke to my friends or family because I don’t want them to know how worried I am. Can anyone help me make heads or tails out of this, please?
Thanks for the responses. I actually received and email from the doctor and I got an earlier appointment – wed. The small bowel follow through was normal. And he ordered a ton of blood tests

In answer to your question Denisedds, those were actually two different things he saw–the thickening of the folds was on the left side. What looked to be on the outside of the colon was the mass they saw on the ascending colon on the right side. I am with Kaiser and have not actually seen the report myself–only what the different doctors have told me they don’t post those types of tests. I had blood work drawn last night and already have the results. Everything is normal except my sed rate which is high and my transferrin saturation which is low. Any idea if this means anything?

The mixed blessing with Kaiser is that they post results on line for blood work–think I’ll drive myself crazy trying to figure them out this weekend.
On a separate note–so sorry to hear about your cancer crossstitchkelly. I’ll keep you in my prayers. I hope your treatment is going well. I am experiencing very similar things to what you mention–No bleeding though. I’m holding on to that because the more research I do the more I am seeing that as a "hallmark" sign. Best of luck

I know that eating a diet high in fiber helps. But are there any other ways that I can help my symptoms? I don’t necessarily have any trigger foods because I’ll get the stomach cramps/diarrhea regardless of what I eat or whether I eat and everything seems to feel the same. So if you have any tips to deal with it, then please share.

i dont feed much on veggies cos i dont have time to cook. so i try to substitute it with fruits. how much fruits i need per day to prevent the horrible death of having colon cancer which leads bowel interuption and consequently vomitting fecal matter?

i eat 2 bananas per day but im not sure it has enough fibre in it. now i added 1 piece of apple to my daily diet. is that enough?

I’m 16 and female.. a few months ago my rectum started hurting really bad randomly… and then recently it started bleeding when I went to the bathroom and has gotten worse and worse..now it bleeds even when I don’t defecate but just urinate.. I know I should go to the doctor and have it looked at but its really embarrassing and I want to have an idea of what I might be dealing with before I go there… any ideas?

Has any one ever had a colon cleanse before, and if so did it help to releave bloating and annoying daily stomach pains? I feel that all the fiber products that’s supposed help with regular bowel habits does not help me at all. I’m also tired of eating grapenuts every other day. 30/07/2004: colorectal anal cancer. APR surgery with colostomy

12/08/2004: cycle of 3 Chemo prescribed by oncology physician, drugs prescribed: oxaliplatin, leucovorin etc.

3/11/2004: Repeat cycle of above 3 chemo with radiation therapy.

25/06/2008: little raised CEA around 25. Whole body PET Scan is normal.

Now my father has re-occurence of cancer with badly damaged liver & a condition called hepatomegaly with metastasis. its stage 4. Can anybody please advice me more regarding the options of treatment, how much time does he have. He had a pathological fracture last week at the outer thigh-hip joint & underwent DHS surgery. The Dr feels the cancer has also spread in his bones. So he will be immobile (in bed) for atleast 5 weeks.

Has anyone else got the two together? I sometimes cant go to the toilet for days. Now Ive just recently started taking medication for the Ulcerative colitis but it seems to only make things worse. The other night I had constant stomach ache but didn’t go to the toilet. Now when I eat I simply feel sick. I have been to the toilet but just a bit each time. What should I do. The doc said I should just caryr on on the meds and everything should get better but this is painful

Okay, I’m not usually a gassy person. In fact, I hardly ever pass gas. I have recently gone on a detox diet that consists of some food restrictions and colon detox herbs each day. Since I have started this program, I have had a lot of gas. Not many BMs yet, but A LOT of gas…

I have been on the diet for four days.

My father has been diagnosed with non-small carcinoma in the right lung. The doctors also found a lesion in the back bone L4 which is reported as neoplastic. A biopsy on the lung tumor was performed and confirme malignancy. On that basis they are presuming that the bone lesion is also a malignant cancer tumor. However, what seems to be strange is that the CT scan results for the rest of the right lung, the left lung, abdomin, intestines, bladder, prostate, pancreas are totally clear. His oncology blood markers are also clear. The bone scan apart from the suspected lesion at L4 is totally clean, and his blood test results are acceptable. His general health conditions are good. He was on a diet, stopped it and gained 3KGS within a span of 10 days. He simply does not show any of the symptoms of a stage IV cancer patient. The doctors said they cannot operate because of the bone lesion. Had it been only in the lungs they would. We are concerned that they might be making the wrong connection

I have been having major problems with my bowel movements. I thought it might be something with my colon so I used a colon cleanse and it hasn’t helped. I have been having pains in my stomach. I’m only 25 years old.

until then however.. I wanted to see if anyone has ever heard of having no symptoms, normal bowel movements then suddenly having heavy bleeding from the rectum. I took a laxative about 2 months ago to clear up my first case of constipation since I was a kid (I’m coming up on 30). Ever since then I’ve felt like there is something lodged in my descending colon. I went to see the doctor about it out of fear that I had colorectal cancer. They performed a colonoscopy and nothing showed up, no polyps or even hemrroids. I don’t have diahrrea or excessive gas, so it isn’t IBS. The doctor seems to think that it’s my diet. But I eat healthy and have never had this problem before. Now I have a constant feeling of pressure/discomfort in my descending colon and never goes away. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
