I m havin a colon reconnection in a few weeks, and i just wanted to know if death is a high risk. I ve been having a colostomy for just a year now and is time to getit off. my first surgery was terrible thats because my colon perforated and created absase infection. I had diverticulitis so is been exact year but I am concern.
It all started a year ago when i couldnt go to the toilet and had severe pain in my rectum that i couldnt sit down. i was too embarresed to go to the doctor and tried some over the counter suppositories which initially helped but quickly the constipaion and pain came back. the pain wasnt as severe and ever since it comes and goes normally on a weekly the basis. I only ever get the pain when sitting/driving, and as i work from a desk im almost always sitting down. The pain is never normally there in the morning but as the day goes on i feel it coming on and by the evening i normally need a bath to soothe it. Its more like a burning pain and is bearable but uncomfortable. i’m still having constipation but seeing my doctor for this and am on laxatives and high fibre diet at the moment. The pain is really wierd. its only on one side of my bum! After a while it makes that side of my bum cheek sore too! The other side is fine. i had a "look" in the mirror and cant really see much but it does sometimes look quite red and inflammed. Im 23 years old and female and this is starting to really worry me. When i am really constipated i sometimes pass a little bit of mucus and the otherday there was some blood stained mucus (my doctor is aware of this). The only way i can describe the pain/burning sensation is like a papercut! When i go to the toilet it doesnt hurt when i go but im often left with a more deeper burning sensation afterwards…im confused what this could be….please help!
What kinds of things are they looking for in a colonoscopy? I am going for one tomorrow and I am scared and I want to know what their looking for. They must have some idea. I am young (31) and am being sent beause I have been diagnosed with Colitis (through a cat scan) but they don’t know any more they say. What exactly are they looking for and do they believe it may be cancer?
I have stomach pain, and pain on the left and sometimes right side of my bellybutton but the pain isnt constant just sometimes all of a sudden it comes and it isnt excruciating. Also I dont have big bowel movements I guess I could be constipated and dont poop for 4 days sometimes but I never have any blood in my stool. I workout so could the abdominal pain be from straining and little muscles being pulled. I have gas, and sometimes bloating. What disease could
I have, a life-threatening one? Or something that is nothing to worry about?
Update. I just had a bowel movement . The stools are narrow. Could that mean colon polyp?
I’m currently using Symmetry Botanacleanse. I’m on day two of the 11 day program, and for the last 2 days, I’ve had a mild, but ongoing headache. I haven’t taken any pain killers, as I’m afraid it may cause the Botanacleanse to become ineffective…thanks in advance for your help!!!
Do they really work? And which products do you recommend?
The brain could somehow transmit neural signals to the small intestine causing it to crap and loose it’s fighting mass, or the small intestine could wrap itself around the brain and tie it up. There’s a lot of possibilities what’s your opinion?
I have heard so much about how affective the Acai berry diet is. However, I have also heard that you should do the Acai berry diet along with a colon cleansing supplement. I am nervous and unsure about the colon cleansing supplement and I am wondering if I can not take it and still lose weight with the Acai berry diet alone.

Can Irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colon cause loss of appetite and nausea? I have both and my colon is very sensitive any physiological trauma can trigger any symptoms…
What can i do bout this? Please anyone??
I often read the Google Ads for some good laughs, but rarely actually click on them unless something seems really interesting. Today I saw this one for combining an Akai Berry Supplement and Colon Cleanse Supplement.
To me, this sounds very unsafe because it’s a massive change to your metabolism, but that’s just me. I figured I’d toss the idea out here from some others’ input.
Here’s the link that the Google Ad took me to:
http://nichollesweightloss.com/story
It’s obviously an ad, but I can’t figure out the validity (there are no other stories to the "blog").
I thought it’s probably hemorroids, but I bought some Preparation-H the kind with the suppositories and cream, but it didn’t help at all. There’s also foul smelling discharge seeping from the area. It will go away for a couple of days but then just comes right back. It’s so painful and uncomfortable. This started about 2 years ago, wasn’t so bad at first, there was no bleeding at first, but now recently, there’s been quite a bit of blood when I do bleed. I’ve already made an appointment to see a specialist at a colon and rectal clinic, but soonest day they have is almost a month away. What can I do in the meantime to help alleviate these symptoms? I haven’t gone out at all since I started having the rectal bleeding and foul smelling discharge because it’s too embarrasing and uncomfortable. Thankfully I have a job where I work from home, but even that’s getting very very difficult to do because I work on the computer and am sitting for hours a day. Can anyone please recommend anything that may help in the meantime?
Please help me with this.
Thank you
I am a 28 year old male, and for the last year I have had ALL of the symptoms of colon cancer except for weight loss and anemia. Also, I am not sure that I have had rectal bleeding, and I am inclined to think that the red in my stool was undigested tomatoe skins. That said, I have had loose stools, that are narrower and softer than usual, and mucus in my stools, and occasional constipation. I told my doctor about this, and he said it is probably IBS, but he said if it doesn’t clear up maybe I should talk with a Gastroenterologist and get a colonoscopy. I plan to do so soon—after my final exams. I am just wondering, though, can my symptoms really be caused by something else besideds colon cancer , like IBS. I look on the web, and it seems that my symptoms really point to colon cancer.
The fact is that using every single metric, the US has the best health care on the planet.
1. Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers. Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Prostate cancer mortality is 604 percent higher in the United Kingdom and 457 percent higher in Norway. The mortality rate for colorectal cancer among British men and women is about 40 percent higher.
2. Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians. Breast cancer mortality in Canada is 9 percent higher than in the United States, prostate cancer is 184 percent higher, and colon cancer among men is about 10 percent higher.
3. Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries. Some 56 percent of Americans who could benefit from statin drugs, which reduce cholesterol and protect against heart disease, are taking them. By comparison, of those patients who could benefit from these drugs, only 36 percent of the Dutch, 29 percent of the Swiss, 26 percent of Germans, 23 percent of Britons, and 17 percent of Italians receive them.
4. Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians. Take the proportion of the appropriate-age population groups who have received recommended tests for breast, cervical, prostate, and colon cancer:
* Nine out of ten middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to fewer than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent).
* Nearly all American women (96 percent) have had a Pap smear, compared to fewer than 90 percent of Canadians.
* More than half of American men (54 percent) have had a prostatespecific antigen (PSA) test, compared to fewer than one in six Canadians (16 percent).
* Nearly one-third of Americans (30 percent) have had a colonoscopy, compared with fewer than one in twenty Canadians (5 percent).
5. Lower-income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians. Twice as many American seniors with below-median incomes self-report “excellent” health (11.7 percent) compared to Canadian seniors (5.8 percent). Conversely, white, young Canadian adults with below-median incomes are 20 percent more likely than lower-income Americans to describe their health as “fair or poor.”
6. Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the United Kingdom. Canadian and British patients wait about twice as long—sometimes more than a year—to see a specialist, have elective surgery such as hip replacements, or get radiation treatment for cancer. All told, 827,429 people are waiting for some type of procedure in Canada. In Britain, nearly 1.8 million people are waiting for a hospital admission or outpatient treatment.
7. People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed. More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and British adults say their health system needs either “fundamental change” or “complete rebuilding.”
8. Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians. When asked about their own health care instead of the “health care system,” more than half of Americans (51.3 percent) are very satisfied with their health care services, compared with only 41.5 percent of Canadians; a lower proportion of Americans are dissatisfied (6.8 percent) than Canadians (8.5 percent).
9. Americans have better access to important new technologies such as medical imaging than do patients in Canada or Britain. An overwhelming majority of leading American physicians identify computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the most important medical innovations for improving patient care during the previous decade—even as economists and policy makers unfamiliar with actual medical practice decry these techniques as wasteful. The United States has thirty-four CT scanners per million Americans, compared to twelve in Canada and eight in Britain. The United States has almost twenty-seven MRI machines per million people compared to about six per million in Canada and Britain.
10. Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations. The top five U.S. hospitals conduct more clinical trials than all the hospitals in any other developed country. Since the mid- 1970s, the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology has gone to U.S. residents more often than recipients from all other countries combined. In only five of the past thirty-four years did a scientist living in the United States not win or share in the prize. Most important recent medical innovations were developed in the United States.

See that link on the bottom of the article canadian? Most americans are smart enough to follow the link when they need to verify the info.
How dumb can you butt monkeys be? See the "additional details"? See the link under it? COULD you 2 clowns be any lamer?
And some people are so dumb they compare average life expectancy. You do realize that includes car accidents, murders, as well as premature deaths that occur naturally dont you? I mean you cant be that stupid can you? Ok so that includes 40 million illegals that may have never seen a doctor in their lives as well as the 12000 mostly teenagers that shoot themselves fighting for drug turf. I mean you do realize that dont you? Ok so add in the number 12000 18 – 25 year olds (mostly) and lets see, do you think that might skew the numbers? Are you people really all that stupid?
and endo, only a dumb butt monkey would disagree with such a well written article that went into such detail and cited with…. um…. nothing. GOod job.
nice question tada. "ranked 37th in the world" Despite your lack of citing WHO ranked it (a common mistake amongst those that want to use discredited numbers) I do realize it is the UN or the WHO that did it. Having worked for the WHO I know how they do their rankings. They compare the health care that the richest person gets to the care the poorest person gets. The closer they are to identical, the higher you rank. So if you wanted to hand out bandaids and peroxide for compound fractures, and did that for everyone, you would rank #1. See why people laugh at these organizations run by 3rd worlders? The fact is that anyone with a dime on the planet, when they get seriously ill, flees to the US for medical care.
ok mewto lets compare the SARS outbreak of a few years back. both the US and canada had about 1000 cases of SARS. IN canada 49 people died. In the US ONE 70+ year old died. Id say that makes US health care better for infectious diseases too!
Tada you want to hear horror stories? IF your insurance company turns you down you can sue the crap out of them. If you are turned down by obama care, you cant do a thing. ITs written right in the obama care law.
I desperately need to drop the 50 lbs I have packed on in the past few years of nursing school. Graduation is in one week, and then my wedding is on 9/9/09. I need a good jumpstart to motivate my weight loss attempt and get my energy level up. Heard these were good, but you never can believe the reviews about diet products. Anyone have any personal experience they can share? Good or bad idea? Any tips? THANKS!

It hangs well below my belly button. The course of my colon going up the ascending colon to the hepatic flexure then coming down in a "U" shape is my transverse colon, then completing the "U" at the splenic flexure and then coming down the descending colon.
