I have a bowel movement once per day and am really self conscious about having one in public (public bathrooms). Xeloda tablets daily and Avastin 2xmonth intervenous. How effective is this as a primary treatment for colon cancer that has matastized to the liver. Cancer is inoperable and also harsher chem/radiation regimens are not possible due to poor health and severe renal problems. Cancer was operated on some time back so it is not present in the colon. My brother-in-law has just been diagnosed with colon cancer. Apparently it's already spread to his liver and lungs. He also has some cysts formed on his kidneys and pancreas. They've told him it's terminal and he has about 3 years to live. The man is only 41! He has 4 young girls, the youngest being 3. He hasn't started any treatment yet, but they're going to do a colonscopy, and will remove the colon, then he'll start chemo. My question: Is there anything out there that could possibly fix the damage done? Any sort of herbal remedies he could try before the doctors start their treatment? What about life insurance? Does anyone know of a company that will cover him? Has anyone recovered from this illness personally? If so, how? We refuse to let him die without first trying every available resource possible. I know this sounds weird but for some reason I have been having rectal pain and constant gas. It has only been going on for about 8 hours now but it just came out of nowhere. It hurts to sit down but once I do I'm fine. Same when I stand up…the first 10 seconds are very incomfortable but then Im fine. Just want to get an idea of what this might be to prevent a trip to the doctor.
